Australia Bidding to Host the COP31 Climate Conference in 2026

Essay by Eric Worrall

Kiss goodbye to the Aussie coal industry? Are Australia’s climate fanatic politicians planning to sell out Australia’s fossil fuel industry, to secure support for hosting the COP31 climate conference in 2026?

Australia to bid to host climate change conference COP 31

By Nick Pearson 12:23pm Nov 5, 2022

Australia will bid to host the world’s biggest conference on climate change in 2026, the government has announced.

Climate Change and Energy Minister Chris Bowen confirmed the country will bid to host COP 31 in partnership with Pacific nations.

COP 31 is the shortened name for the United Nations Climate Change Conference.

“This is an Olympic moment – a huge opportunity to host a nation-building global event,” O’Gorman said.

Last June, Aussie Federal Climate And Energy Minister Chris Bowen explained we don’t have to worry about renewable energy intermittency, because we can store electricity like water.

Aside from being technologically ignorant, in my opinion Bowen may be one of those insecure Aussie politicians, who is utterly desperate for international recognition.

We can only speculate what rash promises or taxpayer cash giveaways Aussie Federal Climate and Energy Minister Chris Bowen will offer, to make a favourable impression on international climate conference delegates. If Bowen is as weak as I fear, it won’t take long for climate conference delegates to figure him out.

After the gross failure of 26 and the impending failure of 27 – oh and the failures of 1to 25 including the Paris Agreement- I’m surprised any politician would wish to tarnish himself (sorry about the pronoun)

But we must continue giving billions per year to those developing countries (like China) to enable them to do precisely NOTHING. Gee – didn’t Oh Bummer orchestrate a magnificent Paris bullshit “agreement”.

The failure may be the failure of those attending actually paying for the COP31 “benefit”.

Bring it on. I already have some truly wicked stunts planned to humiliate them if Australia is not under CCP totalitarian control by then. They are absolute stinkers which will gain attention due to their colourful and provocative outfits.
As for having their climate luvvie fest in Australia, think about all those flying miles and the emissions-oh, the emissions.
When the time comes, WUWT will have to publish the details of booked rallies.4 years to plan some truly wicked stunts. I have just thought of the stinker of all stinkers, but it would be extremely difficult to pull off.

Just offset.

Works for everything. Fly overseas? Give money to tree planting. Burn down a house? Donate to builders. Murder some fools? Have some unprotected sex with some random women.

Offset. Solves everything.

Which is probably why PM Albanese isn’t going to COP 27. It is so that Albanese can dismiss anything Bowen says, does or, especially, signs after COP 27 is over.

We get the kudos for any harebrained scheme Bowen supports at CPP 27 but then don’t have to pay for it after.

With a bit of luck the American mid-term elections will get the Republicans in charge of both Congress and Senate on Monday. Here is hope that the COP annual stupidity will have finally died a natural death. Surely the world can’t continue with this mind-numbingly inane charade.

This will run and run… and run.

I don’t see why Australia, as host, shouldn’t require all delegates to come without using fossil fuel. It would be the best COP ever – well it would be if no Australian delegate could walk to it.

Those who know him, say he suffers from small d*** syndrome.
One thing is certain, you won’t be able to get to the COP in 2026 without a very long flight if you are from anywhere particularly so for those in the northern Hemisphere. With that in mind the demonization and banning of air travel will be postponed by a few years yet.
See, there is always a silver lining if you look hard enough….

This article in the Daily Telegraph makes interesting reading. It does however make the assumption that there is a climate change problem that needs addressing. I think that assumption is totally wrong.

Storing water, such as by building dams, is vastly cheaper than storing energy. And storing water has multiple benefits- you have the water, you have recreation, you have ecological benefits, you have flood protection- so it’s a great investment.

You’re 50 years out of date. Nowadays, Australia is as bad as America, with everybody wanting to sue somebody over the most trivial things. The chardonnay set has been replaced by the inner-city teals, all trying to force their own crazy beliefs onto everybody else.

I don’t see any way of curing the country. It’s hopeless.

Not too sure if many folk are aware of this, but OZ has already sold off its coal industry.
The sickening virtue signaling of BHP and RIO has resulted in Australian premier coal mines having been GIVEN AWAY (not sold) to Japanese and Chinese interests.
These Chinese and Japanese operators are making a killing at present with coal prices at record highs and every indication prices will go higher.
BHP and RIO used to be very good mining companies.
These days they are pathetic on any parameter you care to mention.
They are no longer mining companies; they exist on past reputations.
Their Boards of Directors are pathetic.
Now, do you want me to tell you what I really think?

Major conference re climate change in Australia? Sure. Why not? As long as the participants get down under in a carbon neutral fashion — perhaps by swimming or rowing.

Even if one isn’t conscious of the fragility of “climate science” it’s kind of hard to take folks seriously who can’t figure out that moving their conference to an on-line venue would save a lot of carbon powered energy.

November 5, 2022 12:02 pm

My generation of Australians, born before about 1950, would have mounted a large and effective campaign to stop the rot of the COP plus the destruction of our hydrocarbon energy industry.
Blind Freddie can see that we need fossil fuels for energy and hydrocarbons like natural gas for making products like plastics and fertilizers. (I was part of the startup team for the big urea plant on Gibson Island, Brisbane, about 1968).
These days, managers of resources projects have gone spineless and lost the plot. They take no notice of the actual experience of their elders. A common, ignorant tactic these days is to not acknowledge, and not answer, emails and letters from us. If there is no app to help them reply, they go into helpless mode.
Come on, you current resource managers. We oldies delivered you massive, world class resources for many commodities that society demands and all you can do is stuff them up in the face of the fairy tale called climate change.
You should get together for a series of intense, fact based seminars to work out and put in motion a proper response to this climate change fantasy. You must know how much of it is a beatup based on failed climate modelling programs mixed with zealotry from neo-Communists.
Get a life. Earn you pay by putting it right. Geoff S

Union membership is for the individual who is spineless, unable to think nor see the flaws in their idealogy, much like the AGW party crowd. All the same people, the true ‘useless eaters’ who demand we change our ways and beliefs.
