US health officials have given a hugely controversial research organization another $650,000 (£580k) grant to experiment on Covid-like viruses – despite fears similar risky work may have actually sparked the pandemic.
EcoHealth Alliance, run by British zoologist Peter Daszak, funded studies in Wuhan – the Chinese city where the pandemic began – on manipulated coronaviruses.
Such research, known as ‘gain of function’, can see viruses deliberately engineered to become more dangerous to humans.
EcoHealth Alliance’s five-year experiment will investigate ‘the potential for future bat coronavirus emergence’ in Asia, with scientists set to trawl caves in Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam in the hunt to prevent another viral crisis.
The grant was awarded last month by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), which is still ran by Dr Anthony Fauci.

Daszak’s group, which bizarrely evolved from a save-the-manatees non-profit to a top champion of viral gain-of-function research as it chased federal funding, has long been at the center of questions about the origins of Covid.

A word of caution, as far as I know nobody has explicitly said the money is for “gain of function” research But this seems a reasonable inference, given the history of EcoHealth Alliance’s apparent association with gain of function research, and the previous use of gain of function research to conduct such assessments.
Note I am not in any sense accusing Peter Daszak of lax biosecurity. My position is no level of biosecurity is good enough. The potential downside of an accidental release of a genetically enhanced virus, as may have happened in Wuhan, in my opinion makes such experiments completely unacceptable, no matter how tight the biosecurity.

What’s so perverse about this grant is that it comes a few days before Congress started debating a ban on funding EcoHealth Alliance at all.
In fact, Senator Ernst (R-IA) just introduced the bill and told the Daily Caller: “Giving taxpayer money to EcoHealth to study pandemic prevention is like paying a suspected arsonist to conduct fire safety inspections. NIH got it right when it canceled the funding for the experiments EcoHealth Alliance was conducting with China’s state-run Wuhan Institute. In addition to violating multiple federal laws, EcoHealth has still not turned over documents about these dangerous studies that NIH has requested on multiple occasions that could offer vital clues to the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Researching Crispr Cas 9 technology in 2018 and 2019 out of sheer curiosity, I found the papers on SARS-CoV using Crispr Cas 9, which I cannot find now. I was aware of the earlier short lived SARS coronavirus outbreaks in 2006 and MERS in 2013 (not sure of the dates) but completely unaware that Crispr Cas 9 was being applied to viral research It seemed like a good thing. Research toward vaccine development for potential deadly pandemics is a good thing right?! My concern in 2018, was how cheap an easy it would be to use Crispr Cas 9 technology to design and/or redesign any living organism gnomically especially if a lab is already established… especially viruses. As a social worker, at that time, ethics was my chief concern, not bio-safety.
My point here is how relatively cheap and easy Crispr Cas 9 tech is and how it can be done in any lab or basement. A grant of less than a million bucks doesn’t seem like much but it is…it keeps salaries paid and the lights on cause the tech is not expensive.
In the right, (wrong) hands, gain of functioning work can be done anywhere. This is the reason the world needs to be alarmed and new laws and enforcement carefully considered.

If this is what they did, the only explanation would be either total brain dead stupidity, or a deliberate intent to cause significant harm to human society. If the latter, then who are these leaders really working for?
The new Crispr CAS 9 Tech enabled the development of vaccines for SARS CoV…. both the vaccine itself and a stable SARS CoV to test it. So this is an entirely new industry since 2016. As we have seen, one SARS outbreak resulted an instant global market for the vaccines and giant profits.
We are talking 50 billion in pre-tax profit in 18 months. This doesn’t include all the associated distribution and healthcare economies nor the profit from boosters and new vaccines.
Since the 2006 short lived SARs epidemic, there have been 6 major pandemic films from 2009-2019, four of them since 2016. We are talking New Industry and Big money!! So that’s Entertainment!
