“They’ve ceased to be a party for anything or anybody other than themselves”: Mr Carbon Tax, former Aussie PM Kevin Rudd, has slammed Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s zero cost net zero COP26 climate pledge as “duplicitous”.
Kevin Rudd criticises Scott Morrison’s plan to achieve net zero emissions by 2050
Kevin Rudd has warned world leaders will see through Scott Morrison’s plan to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.

October 27, 2021 – 12:00AMFormer Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has described Scott Morrison as a “C-grade Boris Johnson” and warned world leaders at the COP26 conference will see through his plan to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
Under Mr Morrison’s plan announced on Tuesday, more than $20bn will be invested in “low emissions technologies”, but the modelling will not be released until later.
Mr Morrison will soon travel to Glasgow for the United Nations Climate Change Conference, but Mr Rudd warned the Prime Minister would likely face some criticism from other leaders.
“I think, for example, you could rely upon the European Union and probably the United States to finger Morrison for, frankly, this duplicitous,” he told the Democracy Sausage podcast.
…
“The illusion being created … is somehow there’s been a Damascus Road conversion and there’ll be garlands of flowers thrown out on the path as Morrison makes his way to the conference centre in Glasgow — nothing could be further from the truth.”
Mr Rudd also hit out at the Nationals, describing the party as “quite corrupt”.
“They’ve ceased to be a party for anything or anybody other than themselves,” he said.

Other greens have been equally scathing;
How the world reacted to Australia’s net zero plan
By Mark Saunokonoko • Senior Journalist
9:19am Oct 27, 2021Australian billionaire Mike Cannon-Brookes has ripped into the government’s key climate document which plans to lead Australia to net zero carbon emissions by 2050, calling it “ridiculously embarrassing” and “just more bulls—“.
Using less colourful language, the world’s media were more restrained than the Atlassian founder in running the rule over Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s plan – but not by much.
Headlines and stories from many of the world’s most prestigious mastheads were critical of Australia’s net zero 2050 plan, particularly the detail – or lack of it – on the pages.
…
As Mr Cannon-Brookes and Australia slept, reporters and headline writers were busy in the northern hemisphere analysing Mr Morrison’s announcement, just days ahead of the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow, Scotland.
CNN said that “Australia will be the rich world’s weakest link at COP26 with hollow net-zero and emissions pledges”.
The New York Times said Australia’s ambition to hit net zero by 2050 was based on a plan that “makes that hard to believe”.

As I predicted, Prime Minister Scott “Wrecking Ball” Morrison’s attempt to find a middle road Net Zero pledge for COP26 has made Australia a global laughing stock.
Greens are slamming a “duplicitous” Net Zero pledge which retains a place for coal.
Climate skeptics are slamming ScoMo’s implausible claim that Net Zero will be zero cost.
In the process of stitching together this insult to everyone’s intelligence, ScoMo has also managed to trash the reputation of his junior coalition partners, the National Party, making the Nationals look like Net Zero high fuel cost sellouts.
Maybe the embarrassment of this disastrous Net Zero policy announcement will be lost in the chaos of the upcoming COP26 blamestorm. But I’m guessing thanks to this gutless effort, “that fella down under” has likely just confirmed himself to be the COP26 chief villain, almost certainly pulling Australia ahead of the hilarious Saudi Arabian plan to hit net zero by pumping more oil.
This is a fiasco for Australia’s 2 main conservative parties. They are no longer conservatives, just arse protectors. Morrison will be wiped out at the next election, just as Gough Whitlam was in 1975, for trying to destroy the economy.
No, I think it’s mandarin.
Great news! KRudd doesn’t like the way Scomo set the 2050 net zero target so it must be a good plan.
Scomo’s only commitment is to not sacrifice our industries and jobs by chasing it and he now has 28 years before he needs to actually achieve anything. That’s nine elections away. I think we can safely say it’s a Clayton Target. At the rate the unreliables are stuffing up every country and state that tries to use them, I reckon the public will have had more than enough of them well before then.

*************
World leaders like Morrison keep trying to find a middle ground between pandering to the climate alarmist narrative and continued fossil fuel usage to keep their economies from collapsing. They are just making enemies for themselves on both sides.
This is like a war with fossil fuels on one side and the environmental movement on the other. The war will not end with leaders pandering to both sides. One side or the other has to eventually lose. Fossil fuels will only go away with advances in energy generation technologies that can replace fossil fuels. Fourth generation nuclear might be one example — maybe.
From what I’ve learned here at WUWT in the past, the 1.5 and 2.0 degree celcius temperature thresholds that are embedded of the Paris Agreement and are being sold to the world don’t really have any science behind them. This makes them probably more political than anything else. I’m not surprised if indeed they are.
I will be singing and dancing in the streets of my neighborhood (and probably making my neighbors wonder if I’ve lost my marbles) the day a world leader comes along (preferably here in the U.S.) who understands what I’m saying here and goes to war against the seriously faulty “science” of “globull warming/the climate crisis.” Choose the side of sound science and bring this thing to an end — please.
Politicians with both brains and intestinal fortitude seem to unfortunately be very few and far between.
Dammit! The Aussies ‘conservatives’ continue their gutless march, refusing to read the science, realize how weak it is, and reject CAGW and STOP so-called green energy, as the only sensible path for living, breathing human beings. Dare to do nothing! Dare to say NO, before it’s too late.
The near surface temperature record shows almost NO sensitivity to increasing CO2. But to have their cake and eat it, too, some of you pols continue to pander to the lefty scaredy-cats and climate babies. You so-called conservative politicians refuse to recognize the clear benefits of more CO2 for agriculture, ranching, forests, and the entire ocean food web. I don’t see how, if we look honestly, any of that can be rationally disputed. Many of you are not willing to risk your seats for the magnificent benefits of a slightly warmer world, and especially a world that might not descend quite as quickly into the horrific depths of the next glaciation, if that sensitivity to CO2 turns out to be a bit higher that I suspect. But don’t worry. Even then, humans with great machines can help defend Toronto, London, Olso, New York, Moscow, and Boston from glaciers. We’ll drop black cinder dust on the ice in summer to melt it faster, or we could quarry those giant slabs of ice and carry the ice to the sea in great diesel powered trucks, or electrically melt it and supply tons of fresh water to the Northern Hemisphere. Okay, maybe I’m getting a bit carried away with my futurist imagination here, but the point is this: NONE of us are wise enough to create that discount rate for the far future. So trying to think our puny little public policy decisions will control that future world’s climate realities. That is really quite stupid.
All politicians who oppose leftist collectivism, please have the guts to say it’s the SUN, WATER, CLOUDS, ALBEDO, and SEASONAL CHANGE due to orbital mechanics that drive the EARTH’S CLIMATE! IT is NOT CO2! Have some guts and shout it loud and often. Then LEAD your nations and stop them from falling victim to the folly of their mass self-hypnosis and delusion. Billions of registered voters will thank you.
Well, that is a lovely article.
By the way, do you have an alternative plan that you think ScoMo might be able to put forward?
I’d love to hear it.
Sure – tell them to get lost and keep selling coal. Meet any trade war with nation specific tariffs on Australia’s exports. They need Australian commodities more than we need their climate BS.
If they looked up the Oxford Dictionary the Greens would find that the word is “duplicitas”
I am wondering when the Aussie MSM will stop giving this prat airtime.
Scomo, looking forward to you pulling the rabbit out of the hat.
NUCLEAR Power – Tadaaa!!!!!!!!!!!
With covid restrictions COP26 is the only circus in town.
