Which of These is 2020’s Greatest “Crime against Humanity”

From The Savvy Street.com

By Vinay Kolhatkar

Article 7 of the Rome Statute states:

For the purpose of this Statute, ‘crime against humanity’ means any of the following acts when committed as part of a widespread or systematic attack directed against any civilian population, with knowledge of the attack [emphasis mine].

The acts in themselves include many crimes including murder, enslavement, enforced disappearance, etc. and also “other inhumane acts of a similar character intentionally causing great suffering, or serious injury to body or to mental or physical health.”

The U.N. adds:

In contrast with genocide, crimes against humanity do not need to target a specific group. Instead, the victim of the attack can be any civilian population, regardless of its affiliation or identity.

Systemic crimes by communist regimes, such as the Holodomor (the famine manufactured by the Soviets in Ukraine) and the Great Leap Forward (Chairman Mao’s “reconstruction” that killed 45 million) have been described as “crimes against humanity.”

The Quintessential Nature of Humanity

Human beings are organisms capable of directing themselves, governing and even manufacturing, their emotions. They can also modify, physiologically, the very source of directedness and emotion (i.e., the brain) with purpose and practice (neuroplasticity).

This self-directedness (autonomy), is a primal source of joy, creativity, and productivity. It does not follow that we must each secure knowledge in every field from cooking to medicine to virology. In a world full of specialization, we can decide to follow experts we choose to trust. In a free-speech world, we may make errors in seeking and following experts that turn out to be wrong, but reality promptly corrects wrongheaded science. Science, when unhindered by willful mind-criminals, never goes backward.

It’s thus a “crime against humanity” to force humans to act against their better judgment, to coerce them into accepting the rule of “wise men.” It’s even worse to hoodwink them into thinking that the unbiased counsel of experts is freely available to citizens via governments, and by those who have assumed the responsibility of holding governments to account (the media). So deceived, humanity, willingly but unknowingly, acts against its own interest.

I submit to you, the reader, that there is no greater moral crime than this deception.

The Year 2020’s Most Egregious Crimes against Humanity

Our foundation laid, we are now in a position to call out the worst abuses of this calendar year.

A caveat, here. Much of this foundation was laid across several essays that were published on Savvy Street through 2020, and like the paragraph on autonomy above, are summaries of longer arguments. Hyperlinks are provided for those who wish to dig deeper.
1. Green Ideology Murdered People, Destroyed Property, and Burned Livestock

The year 2020 erupted with monstrous bushfires in Australia. The bulk of these, it was determined, did not have a natural cause such as lightning strikes (for which advanced meteorology keeps an accurate tab on locations and timing), but arson.

By the end of the northern summer, the western United States, too, was engulfed by record-breaking but preventable mega fires that claimed or destroyed human lives and other species. As children and their grandmothers were burned alive, mass media peddled the false narrative of the primary cause being “climate change.”

2. Was It Criminal Negligence or Design? China and the Virus

Dr. Li-Meng Yan, a Chinese virologist, was involved in investigating the first reported outbreak of COVID-19 in the world in Wuhan. In April 2020, she fled China and came to the U.S., where she sought refuge.

She later claimed, on several U.S. channels including Fox News that the COVID-19 virus was engineered in a lab—that the genome fingerprint reveals a manufacture—“a cow with a deer’s head, a rabbit’s ears, and a monkey’s hands cannot arise in nature [minute 2.30 to 2.40];” that the wet market origination story was a smokescreen. Dr. Lan also asserted that the World Health Organisation (WHO) was complicit, courtesy China’s intrusive domination of many developing countries via strategic lending (the Belt and Road Initiative) and its subversive machinations.

Dr. Lan’s claims may be false. But they are being suppressed by mass media despite other virologists making similar claims. Google raises only the dismissals to the top of its search engine; its algorithms, it appears, are designed to promulgate the establishment narrative.

Even if the virus was lab engineered, its escape into the world may have resulted from negligence rather than intent. But, at the very least, in the initial phase of the pandemic, China actively suppressed information that could have saved countless lives—this is not disputed. That suppression of vital information alone marks it as a morally heinous crime.

3. WHO, CDC, and Public Health Agencies’ Crime against Humanity

What if the virus arose in nature and escaped China inadvertently? The public health agencies are not exonerated by that hypothesis.

Early in 2020, there were plenty of signs of asymptomatic carry and a cure as the immune system overcame the virus, and also evidence that certain treatments, if given in the initial stages of the disease, were extremely effective.

But health agencies actively pooh-poohed studies of antibody testing and refused to engage on the cardinal numbers that really mattered. Hospitals inflated deaths by COVID to get access to more funds and the agencies turned a blind eye. Fraudulent studies that demonized HCQ were published in the world’s most prestigious medical journals.

4. The Enablers: Mass Media and Academe’s Capitulation Is a Crime

The neo-Marxists long march through our institutions began nearly a century ago. The critical capture was of academe, and then, media.

Economics was an easy prey once Keynes published his outlandish departure from logic. The humanities were re-erected with “grievance studies,” a scientific hoax. Mass media’s shift away from objectivity toward leftist advocacy masquerading as journalism was predicated on the falsification provided by “peer-reviewed” journals, which, in the humanities, had become subtle advocates for unreason.

Restrained by the First Amendment in the U.S., mass media used European regulation to strangle the multinational tech giants like Facebook, Twitter, and Google (owner of YouTube). Inventing pseudo-objective paradigms like “fake news” and “hate speech,” they succeeded in flooding the social media public square with neo-Marxist bias.

Let’s recall the Rome Statute’s key criteria for labeling a wrong a “crime against humanity”:

Intentionally causing great suffering, an attack that is widespread or systematic, and directed against any civilian population at large.

Which of these four, do you, the reader, believe to be the most egregiously heinous criminals against humanity of the year 2020?

This, upon first reading, seems to be a loosely argued collection of allegations that paints the author as a bit of a crank, and which does not serve the genuinely scientific sceptical cause well.

Richard, the author is quite specific in identifying the harms caused by statism applied to disparate situations. It is your criticism that is both over broad, and vague to the point of irrelevancy.

This unjustified comment raised the red flag to me: “Economics was an easy prey once Keynes published his outlandish departure from logic.“

This comment needs to be justified. Keynes was part of an academic movement deriving from the enlightenment which latterly included such figures as Karl Popper. What is striking is that in the last 40 years the post modernists have gained a stranglehold on many aspects of academic life. The neo Marxists have been present since Marx, but only managed to gain a real foothold on the conduct of academic enquiry with the post modernist movement.

I would like to understand more about the authors comment about Keynes – is it to do with the abolition of the gold standard? The economic theory he espoused is behind the prosperity we enjoy today; however abuses of the freedoms he proposed are, unfortunately, common.

Keynes changed tack when it suited him, and it’s ridiculous to suggest that his “theory” (which one?) is behind the prosperity we enjoy today; if it were up to him, the post-WWII monetary order would have been based on his Bancor than Harry Dexter White’s lobotomised gold standard that lasted until 1971.

Keynes, like most mainstream economists, are Statists, and believe we need central planning of the monetary system.

The result is as we see it today; ZIRP and NIRP destroying what little remains of capitalism, and governments and central banks showering their cronies with money created out of thin air.

It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning.

So now it was the narrowness of one comment that caused you to dismiss the whole?
While the work of Keynes was meant to utilise deficit spending – stimulus in times of need, and not as a permanent feature, it was and is, IMV seriously lacking in comprehending what human nature would do with such monetary control.

However to say
“The economic theory he espoused is behind the prosperity we enjoy today”
is, IMV, simply absurd. Capitalism, combined with protection of semi free markets from domination, be that domination government derived or corporate derived, along with technology, hand in hand with fossil fuels, that is behind today’s prosperity.

I rank media the worst. There is very little serious reporting. Interviews are conducted by smarmy know-it-alls aiming to catch the interviewee out rather than trying to understand and helping convey their point of view or providing a fair platform to voice their view.

The disrespect displayed to POTUS Trump was appalling. The recent wide ranging censorship and highly biased reporting is a tragedy. US has overtaken China for censorship. Unless you speak woke you are cut off and ostracised. Freedom of speech is more highly prized in China. The gatekeepers simply do not allow conversations that convey an opinion different to theirs. (with the rare exceptions of forums like WUWT)

Media has abetted the disablement of an enlightened academia. Universities have become closed shops far worse than any union shop in past eras. Toe the line or leave.

China does not need to take over the world, the world is becoming China – take a knee or be ostracised. I endured 4 months of house arrest in 2020; could not travel more than 5km from the house, permitted off the premises for one hour a day providing it was before 9pm and after 5am.. All because Australian society has been importing people faster than the country can assimilate them into a cohesive, respectful and caring society – wokeness gone mad. The place has people who cannot take head of spoken or written instructions in the language of the country.

Me, too. The Media are the worst, and the most dangerous since they are the opinion formers for society. If they lie, they undermine Democracy. And our current batch of Media lie continuously to support a particular political agenda, the socialist agenda.

The modern media is definitely the biggest crime against humanity. All the other things listed would not happen if the media was honest. Here in the US, the vast majority of the media are card-carrying democrats. If “president-elect” Harris told them to cut off both their thumbs, they would without question and then blame Trump for their inability to grab things.

If the media told the truth about COVID-19, there would have never been a lock down, ever. If the media told the truth about the green religion, people would not be afraid of global warming.

The media, and that now includes Google and Facebook, is our enemy. They will lie to you and sleep well at night. And so the modern media is the biggest crime against humanity.

The rape of the educational system laid the groundwork for the montessori mindset that believes Truth is the product of majority concensus. Even the article above makes the mistake of telling us we cannot learn everything, and must choose whose opinion to trust. I think the stupid concept of “information overload” is the original modern sin. We cannot be experts at everything, but it is the submission to experts that started all this. If you know at least a little bit, it becomes easier to question the big lies.

Relating to vaccine, first every spokesperson of the WHO who are promoting the vaccine need to be vaccinated in front of public and media. Even in the UK some scientists and leaders are heavily promoting the vaccine. People are really aware of how much money the vaccine company will make and why so much media coverage and manipulation going on. Of course there will be a share of those to polical parties. Scientists and leaders are used; whereas common people are befooled. It should be the demand of normal people that those vaccines should be injected first to those particular scientists, leaders and WHO spokesperson who are very vocal in favour of the vaccine.

Why did not we see that big event yet?

Youtube was fun maybe 13 years ago seems like another world alltogether and google algorithms do not allow one to find info on the net…unless you want to wade through pages and pages of “fact checking” (hailed as the antidote to “fake news” but seldom providing any facts) “orange man bad” and what not all. The family of my young Autistic friend numbers 4 in total.
2 young girls age 8 and 11 plus their Mum & Dad

Their total monthly income is just a shade over £1,000

Last month, UK Government begged, borrowed or printed over £31 Billion, mostly to cover the Covid Crisis
Roughly about £500 for every living human soul presently extant in the UK, or, twice the total income of that family.

And seemingly, the Local Council has just announced, from some epic financial foul-up on their part, they owe said council £4,000

And How Many Times are we told, Think Of The Children Think Of The Grand- Children

Is that another ‘crime’
Make your own mind up 🙂

btw and not esp ‘by’
Anyone any idea how much is being paid per shot, we seemingly need two shots, of this wondrous vaccine?
I think Boris called it ‘miraculous’

If there ever was a cure worse than the disease, lockdown qualifies.
I may not be a typical 77-yr-old. However, I am not worried about CV19. Something is going to get me. Half my birth cohort is already dead.
I am worried about the abnormal behavior of people. Not hugging a child, not shaking hands, hiding behind a mask, not socializing is abnormal. People my age need socialization. So do the young. And, come to thing of it, the middle-aged.

85.6% of C-19 CASES are among those UNDER 65 years of age. (CDC)
80.7% of C-19 DEATHS are among those OVER 65 years of age. (16% of population)
24.8% of C-19 deaths occurred in nursing homes and hospice care.

Between 12/9/20 and 12/16/20 CDC logged 14,531 deaths attributed to C-19. There were 74,340 deaths due to all causes. The 65+ demographic was accountable for 85% of those C-19 deaths.
If you are 65+ w multiple health issues in a crowded nursing home and the staff brings in C-19 you are screwed, but then you were screwed anyway. In other words: If you are already seriously ill, C-19 will probably finish you off, i.e. no different from the seasonal flu or pneumonia

C-19 is not a problem for the young and healthy herd. Mother Nature and her buddy Grim Reaper are just doing their jobs, culling the herd of the too many, too old, too sick warehoused too close together as Medicare/Medicaid cash cows in poorly run contagious lethal elder care facilities.

Japan has the highest percentage of 65+, 27%, yet still fewer than 3,000 deaths. (WHO)
What do they know/do the rest of the world does not?

If C-19 is mostly killing off old sick people why are our elected morons suspending civil liberties, due process, bankrupting the country with lockdowns, distancing and masked clown shows? Guess they can’t impose the NWO Grand Reset with actual facts. And the lying, fact free, fake news MSM left-wing propaganda coup machine has betrayed its responsibility to democracy and an informed public.

******
The US, Brazil, India, Mexico and the UK together have more C-19 deaths than the ENTIRE rest of the world combined. (WHO)
The top ten countries account for more than 65% of the global deaths.
Covid-19 is NOT a wide-spread, contagious, lethal pandemic, it’s a local problem for a half dozen countries with crappy health care systems.

NYC, TX, CA, FL, NJ, NY, IL, PA together have more C-19 deaths than the ENTIRE rest of the country combined.
The top fourteen states plus NYC account for over 70% of the C-19 deaths.
Covid-19 is NOT a national problem.

Denver, Arapahoe, Jefferson and Adams counties together have more C-19 deaths than the ENTIRE rest of Colorado.
The top ten Colorado counties account for 87% of the C-19 deaths.
Covid-19 is NOT a state-wide problem.

There are about 2.8 MILLION deaths every year in the US yet their pictures and back stories don’t make the front page of the lying, fact free, fake news MSM
That’s about 233,000 PER MONTH

Nationwide Covid-19 deaths are about 9% of ALL deaths, but each state is a different story.
Leading the pack NYC Covid-19 represents almost 30% of ALL NYC deaths.

Good job, Cuomo!!

It may not be considered a “crime” in the legal and literary sense, but the practice of abandoning the calculation of “cost” first in public and now private policy will, IMHO, create greater atrocities.

Like, “Where Were You When JFK Was Assassinated”, the contemporary analog is “Where Were You When ‘Two Weeks To Flatten The Curve’ Was Implemented”, this was the stake planted when public policy categorically rejected the practice of considering costs in a policy. It ushered in the disastrous formula of seeing the world as a series of independent univarient equations with binary results.

Just like the demonic “Lockdown” policies ignored everything we know about the horrible costs of destroying an economy only to burn down wealth to mask the damage, the same plutocracy has ignored the costs of wholesale election theft and wide-spread fraud. Completely writing off the social costs as talk of insurrection and civil war build.

I think that it became fashionable to ignore costs when it has also been cemented into society that there exists a category of people for whom there are never consequences no matter how atrocious or venal the acts.

This carries over into policy where vaccine manufacturers have no legal responsibility for any damages, followed up by government and industry mandating vaccination. No one has any accountability, and the costs, if any, are born on those who had no input in any of this.

This can’t be fixed. Our culture is returning to the Norms of history, and that is brutality, tyranny and subsequent misery and poverty.

Happy New Year Y’all !

But if I had to choose, I’d go with the enablers. It’s not just the run-of-the-mill members of the mainstream media. Their nattering negativity is expected. But there are some broadcasters whom I trusted who have lost their perspective amid the WuFlu debacle. “People are dying in the streets!”, they say. “Look at California, the situation is outta control!”, they say. “Body bags! Freezer trucks! More young people are dying from COVID!” I cannot decide if they are following orders, or if the last few sane reporters are trapped in a feedback loop where fear feeds upon fear. All I can say is since I turned off the MSM my outlook on life has improved.

Even if the virus was lab engineered, its escape into the world may have resulted from negligence rather than intent.
—————————————-

Negligence, probable but not possible.
Intent very much possible.

Similarity but still not the same.

Killer bee pestilence probable due to negligence, but not possible at all within that premise… only weighted as probable for and within the clause of negligence…
but no any real merit in the possibility of what actually happened.

Properly fully intended, very much the act stands as a possibility of that “pestilence” happening… regardless of probability… fully clearly planed to happen.

I am sure many miss the beauty of Killer bee story.

This 2020 Pandemic story is far far much more mind blowing than the “killer” bee story.

I know and am sure that many will consider this as a hipper far fetched story as a ventilation of some sort of a weird claim.

But I will recommend and offer one simple line of advice…
try to simply understand the very basic story line of the “killer” bee,,,
it is so mesmerizing and an extraordinarily fascinating one… far easier to wrap the mind around it, than in the case of 2020 Pandemic…
in and within the proposition of a full and very well planed and executed intent there, been the main ingredient.

Oh well, another point of view.

cheers

Thanks for your reply.

No idea what you mean, but as far as my comment states there, the line given is simple,
no gross irresponsibility within the clause of “killer’ bee reality,
just a very clever intention by the “guys” involved with it… that is my point…
no negligence there.

No random clause there, or negligence, or accidental or other wise incidence there, or negligence of any kind there, in the case of SARS Cov-2 reality of 2020…
plainly clearly intended… with no care or regard, whatsoever, of/from China or whatever China stands for, within or without as for your’s or other’s nightmares about China, mate.
As per this clause China means nothing at all… in the main scheme of things

SARS Cov-2 was clearly intended and applied as intended, regardless of you or me disagreeing or not with it.

This kind of polemics is not very helpful. I agree that green pressure groups often set reason aside, that in hindsight the world did a bad job at dealing with the Covid-19 virus and that modern neo Marxism is a source of irrationality and anti humanistic choices but not as such intentionally causing suffering. And Keynes does not fit into Marxism. As for “the humanities” just close the sociology, political sciences and and anything ending in “*studies* faculties and rationality will likely return to the universities.

Could we add a new candidate: when HydroChloroquine (HCQ) was beginning to show promise, someone (big Pharma or its proxies?) somehow got “scientific articles” published in The Lancet and the New England Journal of Medicine (May 2020) using completely fake data based on completely fake drug trials by a fake company “Surgisphere” which claimed that HCQ was dangerous and thus successfully trashed all HCQ trials.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jun/03/covid-19-surgisphere-who-world-health-organization-hydroxychloroquine

The articles were pulled by the Lancet and NEJM within a week but the damage was already done. The media had published as “fact” that HCQ was dangerous, but forgot to publish the retractions.

Similar HCQ mischief continued for months — “trials” done using dangerous dosages of HCQ, “trials” done on patients whose bodies had already lost the battle against COVID, “trials” done without Zinc, etc.

Who stood to benefit from the scam? Not the authors’ careers (whose scientific reputations will never recover) and not the journals’ reputations (whose platinum scientific reputations are forever tarnished). The only benefactors I can think of are: a) Big Pharma who stood to make billions of dollars from vaccine sales and b) ( to a much lesser extent ) opponents of Trump and c) various corporations (e.g. Zoom, Amazon) who stood to make a shipload of money from an extended lockdown.

Would humans do that ? Would humans intentionally skewer a promising cure, just to make billions of dollars profit? I hope not, but if they did, that would be a bona fide crime against humanity.

“Would humans intentionally skewer a promising cure,”

Some humans would, I have no doubt.

Just like some people will deliberately spread an unknown virus to people all around the world, like the Chicom Chairman Xi did with the Wuhan virus.

All those who are suffering as a result of the Wuhan virus, can blame Mr. Xi for your problems. Ultimately, he is the one who has caused your misery. And he did it deliberately. He feels a sense of accomplishment. The Chicoms are now bragging about how well they are doing and disparaging the West for how badly they are doing in comparison.

Taiwan is currently carrying out another study of the HCQ treatment both for prevention and cure. It’s been ongoing for some time. Results probably are not far away.

The efficacy of the HCQ treatment was in question when the Trump haters started demonizing it, so they could tell themselves the demonizing was a good thing, not a bad thing.

Some of them might feel a little badly when it turns out that therapeutics could have saved thousands of lives if using them had been standard care after a positive test.

One reason the medical associations are now reluctant to promote early treatment with therapeutics may be that if they do, they will be admitting they made a mistake earlier, and that mistake has cost the lives of thousands of people. So they maintain a policy that will cost the lives of even more people.

Politics and science can be a deadly combination in the wrong hands. As in this case.

December 31, 2020 8:19 pm

I vote for:

in the initial phase of the pandemic, China actively suppressed information that could have saved countless lives—this is not disputed. That suppression of vital information alone marks it as a morally heinous crime.

There is a great irony in the fact that it was the USSR and Guinea that in 1971 introduced the text to the UN for declaring apartheid a crime against humanity. This led to The Apartheid Convention in 1973.

In Guinea the government was responsible for some 50 000 deaths of political enemies and opponents. The Soviet Union was responsible for millions of deaths. At this point in time the white South African government was ultimately responsible for only a few hundred political-related deaths (1948-1971). Why was there no commensurate response by the UN to the deaths under Russian Communism or the atrocities in Guinea?

The peak number of people dying each day because of the draconian lockdowns will exceed the total number of political-related deaths in South Africa during the 46 year rule of the apartheid government (1948-1994). How can apartheid be a crime against humanity while the reckless covid responses of politicians – causing hundreds of times more unnecessary deaths – is not a crime against humanity? At the very least every single politician that endorsed these lockdowns should be banned for life from any further political involvement.

This isn’t the crime of 2020, it is the Crime of the Century!

That’s how we got where we are today.

There has been a concerted effort by the Left, over the decades, to subvert the American/Western way of life.

They are being successful in this endeavor because there is no pushback from reasonable people. Reasonable people are just now starting to wake up to the danger the Left has put them in by threatening their personal freedoms. Let’s hope the wake-up call is not too late.

It’s time for reasonable people to pushback on the insanity coming from the Left. The Left wants to control you and everything you do. Don’t let them.

We are offered a range of political views: neo-Marxism, neo-Socialism, neo-Liberalism, neo-Progressivism. Some portray themselves are centrist or right of center simply because they are not as far left as others. However, they are simply fifty shades of left and are happy bedfellows. Whey they have destroyed their opponents, they will then start fighting among themselves and dump their nations in total anarchy. History does not make me optimistic about the outcome.

True. The full march is the crime of the 20th century and it has made possible the current pandemic and other ills of the 21st century. The above, by the way, is not the full article. The link to that is at the end of the summary posted in the excerpt on Watts Up.

Well, China lied and people died due to Oriental Despotism and the Wuhan woo hoo, but an estimated fifty million babies will die this year, world wide, the victims of “reproductive choice” rather than a crime against humanity. Business as usual.

Excessive use of “and also” throughout the article is also a crime against humanity.
