John Kerry Devastated at House hearing on Climate by Scott Perry

Rep. Scott Perry (R-Penn.) flattens Biden climate envoy John Kerry at today’s House Foreign Affairs’ Subcommittee on Oversight and Accountability hearing. You haven’t heard anyone confront Kerry or any other climate clown like Perry does, calling him a “grifter” and asking why he wants to spend $1.6 quadrillion on something that is not a problem.

Let’s give a shout out to to Lord Monckton and ourselves for this gem appearing in the hearing.

The temperature is a stochastic process, so it is to be expected that records are broken even without any change of averages. A good example is the Brownian motion. The mean is zero at all times, but the variance is proportional to time. It keeps braking records without any change in the average that stays at the value zero.

Well.. it is “possible” that various points both men said are correct!

  • there was more CO2 in the atmosphere for 200 mil years
  • there is a minimum CO2 partial pressure under which life is not sustained
  • the temperature over the last 10+ years is declining
  • CO2 reduction measures are ridiculously expensive
  • and wont work if other countries choose not to participate
  • there are grifters in the current situation and Kerry is one of them

and so on, but

(while personally I am a luke warmer and do not see sufficient evidence for it including incomplete modeling of the real planet)
Kerry said that

  • we do live under very different conditions as that high CO2 period 200mil years ago

(the Earth´s orbit parameters are different, ocean sediments buffering the sea CO2
level did not exist and so on)

  • it is possible (while I said I do not believe there is any good evidence for it) that the current atmospheric conditions hinge on anthropogenic CO2 and reacts to the additional CO2 with great sensitivity
  • 97% of all.. okay that was clearly wrong 🙂

In that regards I am sorry I do not think Perry added to the debate other than pointing out how unachievable expensive and actually weakens the US (and Europe) dangerously!

Scientifically, Kerry pointed out (rightfully) that many cliat scientists know about the higher levels in the past and have some idea how to explain it away.. (however likely you may find that yourself this is the well published current situation of climate science and Perry did NOT change that..)
Personally, I would love to see McKitrick´s attribution critique enter the political debate!
All of the suden the scientific base for people like Kerry gets a lot shakier!

Out of curiosity, did Kerry really state ‘under no circumstances’ will US pay climate reparationshttps://thehill.com/policy/energy-environment/4097414-kerry-testifies-no-circumstances-us-pay-climate-reparations/
In case of a paywall, yahoo carried the story as well. Per Piece story might make sense sometimes.

Whoa! As I watched Kerry testify just now he slowly morphed into Colin Powell swearing there were weapons of mass destruction and we must invade.

There were weapons of mass destruction, as well as laboratories ready to make more as soon as the sanctions were lifted.

John Kerry’s family private jet emitted over 300 metric tons of carbon since Biden took office

‘They Are Working Harder’: John Kerry Defends Climate Activists Who Fly Private to Davos

“So, how do we get there? Well, the lesson I’ve learned in the last years and I learned it as secretary and I’ve learned it since, reinforced in spades, is: money, money, money, money, money, money, money. And I’m sorry to say that,” he added.

Senator Perry asked the only question that is relevant: what is the right content of atmospheric CO2. Unless you know that you can’t say whether we need to decrease or increase the emissions. Kerry must realise this because he simply ignored the question since nobody on the planet, however ‘expert’ knows the answer. That makes him profoundly dishonest in my eyes.

It is also the first question that should be asked of Mickey Mann the next time he pontificates in front of Congress.

Many comments already, but I feel an urge to say that I enormously enjoy watching hearings on this level. More Congress members than ever are having the “courage” (is it courage indeed?) to openly reproach Secretaries of State dishonest management.

John Kerry Tilts at Chinese Coal Plants – WSJ

..
The Climate Action Tracker says China’s “coal production reached record levels in 2022 for the second year running,” and “coal is set to remain the backbone” of China’s energy system. No kidding: Between 2020 and 2022, China added some 113 gigawatts of new coal-fired power plants, according to S&P Global Commodity Insights. The entire world managed to retire some 187 gigawatts of coal plants between 2017 and 2022.
As of January China had some 306 coal-fired power stations proposed, permitted or under construction, according to Global Energy Monitor, a nonprofit that tracks worldwide coal-fired power projects of 30 megawatts or more. When finished those plants would generate some 366 gigawatts, or about 68% of the world’s total coal capacity under development.
As of April China also had 180 new coal mines or mine expansions proposed, permitted or under construction, the nonprofit reported. These would produce some 657 million metric tonnes per year upon completion and could release as much as eight million tonnes of methane emissions a year.
Some of China’s coal plants serve as back-up capacity for renewable energy. But the energy think tank Embernoted in May that coal still accounted for 61% of China’s electricity generation last year. That’s down from 78% in 2000—but China’s “total power sector emissions were five times higher than in 2000 . . . due to rising coal generation to meet soaring power demand,” Ember reported.
All of this suggests the Communist Party won’t make climate concessions at the expense of economic growth, and you don’t have to take our word for it. In a January 2022 speech, President Xi Jinping said carbon goals shouldn’t come at the expense of the “normal life” of Chinese people or energy or food security, according to a Reuters article citing the state-run Xinhua news service.

Called Kerry a grifter! Awesome, and totally and irrefutably correct.
