Time: UK PM Liz Truss has Shown “Strikingly Little Interest” in Climate Change

Climate Change Could Strain Relations Between King Charles III and U.K. Prime Minister Liz Truss

BY CIARA NUGENT

SEPTEMBER 12, 2022 4:38 PM EDT

Many expect Charles, an unusually outspoken royal as Prince, to have a tougher time keeping silent—especially when it comes to the climate. …

Some activists, however, say there are major holes in the King’s environmental philosophy. He continues to use highly polluting private jets, for example. And in a 2010 speech at Oxford University, he cast population growth in Africa and other developing regions as a “monumental” challenge for the planet—an idea repeated by his son Prince William last year. Given that people living in Africa make a tiny contribution to greenhouse gas emissions compared to residents of countries like the U.K., these kinds of “overpopulation” arguments arguably carry racist undertones.

If King Charles III is a “climate King,” as some environmental news outlets have optimistically labeled him, Liz Truss is definitely not a “climate Prime Minister.” Commentators say she has shown strikingly little interest in the issue during her 12 years in parliament, despite serving as environment secretary from 2014 to 2016. Truss has promised to “double down” on the U.K.’s existing 2050 net-zero emissions goal. But campaigners have serious doubts about her commitment to the drastic actions needed to reach it. The U.K.’s green party dubbed her a “disaster” for the climate.

Obviously it is reassuring to read UK Prime Minister Liz Truss does not regard climate action as a serious priority. Let us hope she acts on her apparent beliefs, and ditches the lunatic net zero policies which are sending household energy bills skyrocketing, and are strangling the life out of the British economy.

Correction (EW): “Strikingly little interest”, not “Surprisingly little interest”.

I love Liz Truss. An actual conservative running the Conservative party.

I wouldn’t go that far, but I am hopeful.

Well she isn’t running the conservative party, she is team leader to the national government though which is perhaps even better.

Reading this one in the US cannot help but wonder how the Brits ever conceptualized and set up our constitutional republic which has lasted so long?

Well, try not to forget that every single one of the signees to the original declaration of independance, every one of the founding fathers of the United States was British. We have an eccentric sense of humour.

Big deal. Charles has no power over policy, IIRC.

The King is going to have a hard time keeping out of politics and if he cannot do that, he destroys the monarchy. So interesting times ahead for him.

British Prime Minister Liz Truss’s Cabinet Has No White Men…seems pretty racist and stupid.
https://noqreport.com/2022/09/12/british-prime-minister-liz-trusss-cabinet-has-no-white-men/?utm_source=econ

Newly elected British Prime Minister Liz Truss has built a cabinet where there are no white men holding the United Kingdom’s four most critical ministerial positions.

According to a report by Reuters , “Truss appointed Kwasi Kwarteng – whose parents came from Ghana in the 1960s – as Britain’s first Black finance minister while James Cleverly is the first Black foreign minister.” Suella Braverman, whose parents hail from Kenya and Mauritius, is replacing Priti Patel as the second non-white home secretary (interior minister), where she will be tasked with dealing with immigration and police matters.

The Conservative Party has a history of leading the way in electing non-whites to prestigious positions in the government. For example, Benjamin Disraeli (1868, 1874-1880) became the United Kingdom’s first Jewish Prime Minister in 1868.

The most notable barrier broken in British politics that many in the contemporary West are familiar with is Margaret Thatcher becoming prime minister in 1979, making her the first female prime minister in British history. Theresa May, and now, Liz Truss, are the only female leaders to have assumed the position of prime minister since Thatcher.

In Kwarteng’s case, he is succeeding Rishi Sunak as finance minister. Sunak’s parents are from India and […]

The most important post in today’s cabinet goes to Jacob Rees Mogg.

And the likes if Chris Heaton Harris, and Ben Wallace are also in arguably far more important jobs

This whole narrative has been dreamed up to alienate Truss from her assumed racist xenophobic party members.

The truth is that its the Labour party who are the racists and have never had a female leader.

Honestly I have no interest in their or their parents countries of origin nor in the colour of their skin. My only criteria is; “Can they do the job without buggering up the country?” and if they can, nothing else matters.

Time Magazine is ‘stirring’

As King, chuckles is now more trapped than a really trapped thing and more hemmed in than a hemmed in thing.

It will have been made abundantly clear to him that he risks derailing The Entire Monarchy if he carries on as he has been while Prince Chuckles, behaving like a loudmouth spoilt brat.

That it is now = (ha-ha) Time To Grow Up

And he will else there’ll be no more monarchy. end of story

Time will tell, or will they, Time has patently fallen into the same gutter as all the rest of the MSM

Be interesting to see what the merry Monck makes of the new monarch. Royalists tend to bend over backwards to out-sycophant one another. Now the so-called God-apointed King is a greenie. Should be fun.

Good thing the monarchy is only for show. Zero relevance in politics.

All she needs to do if he starts up on it is to quote some inconvenient facts that disprove the narrative.
His use of private jets is bad because he’s not using them to go off to whichever G meeting is going on. They also don’t seem to understand for security for him as he travels.

Perhaps she is showing “strikingly little interest in climate change” because there is strikingly little evidence to support the hypothesis of climate change??

September 14, 2022 1:23 pm

Thank goodness for PM Truss and her support for fracking and the increased availability of cost effective and reliable energy resources of natural gas and oil. The last thing the UK needs now in its on going self inflicted energy and economic debacle driven by climate and renewable energy idiocy is to listen to climate alarmist and energy destructive propaganda from their clueless twit King Charles.

There is only one consideration for both of these people. Do my proposed policies make the British better off or worse off? Every policy must make them better off, there is no policy worth making them worse off. That goes for the US as well.

I had the great joy of living in Scotland for a few years as the “despondent” husband of my active duty military wife. I loved the time that we lived there. But even back then, just pre-Desert Storm, the cost of electricity was mind boggling. Living, working, and sleeping in such cold as most peoples of the world would consider torture. And it’s gotten worse.

My heart goes out to those who have to endure through this. Especially those in Caithness, the Orkney’s, and the Hebrides. Do what you can, and must, to survive. And know that it doesn’t have to be this way. The UK is sitting on top of a pocket of natural gas that would make Vladimir jealous, would you just make use of it.

They wish. Charles III will be apolitical just as his mother was so whatever he thinks will not be said. Liz Truss has to be a pragmatist since her people are suffering. Green dreams do not keep people warm or the lights on.

September 14, 2022 7:47 pm

There won’t be any conflict as chuck would have to show some serious proof of a climate emergency to avoid a constitutional crisis if he starts yapping as king.
Would be the end of the monarchy

Send PM Truss a copy of the speech made by UN Official Christiana Figurers in October 2015 admitting that climate change is a political agenda with the primary objective to get rid of “capitalism” as the world has known it, free enterprise and free markets.

Anyone who thinks the Monarchy writes government policy in the UK has no understanding of our system of government.

Charles has to keep himself constitutionally neutral or resign his position.

the potential climate policy conflict between King Charles and Britain’s new Prime Minister

There is no “conflict”, the monarch is bound to be politically neutral. He’d better keep his trunk ( and those mastodon ears ) out of national politics at all levels.

If he gets too hot he can flat his ears to cool off, like the other Dumbo does.

Truss is big on sanctionning Russia which, far from having any effect on Russia is destroying Europe. Under the guise of decoupling from Russian energy they are making all fossil fuel exorbitantly expensive and basically accelerating the “net-zero” agenda NOT ignoring it.

Sanctions have not had the intended effect and it is patently clear that they never will. However, Ukrainian nazis are this year’s endangered species and we are implored to destroy our own economies and livelihoods to save them.
