Trudeau’s Nitrogen Policy will Decimate Canadian Farming

Keean Bexte writes in The Counter Signal

Much like in the Netherlands, Justin Trudeau is bringing in a nitrogen emissions cap that will absolutely decimate Canadian farming.

In December 2020, the Trudeau government unveiled their new climate plan, with a focus on reducing nitrous oxide emissions from fertilizer by 30% below 2020 levels by 2030.

“Fertilizers play a major role in the agriculture sector’s success and have contributed to record harvests in the last decade. They have helped drive increases in Canadian crop yields, grain sales, and exports,” a news release from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada reads.

“However, nitrous oxide emissions, particularly those associated with synthetic nitrogen fertilizer use have also grown significantly. That is why the Government of Canada has set the national fertilizer emissions reduction target, which is part of the commitment to reduce total GHG emissions in Canada by 40-45% by 2030….”

https://thecountersignal.com/trudeau-nitrogen-policy-will-decimate-canadian-farming/

Bexte quotes a report from Fertilizer Canada

It is estimated that a 30% absolute emission reduction for a farmer with 1000 acres of canola and 1000 acres of wheat, stands to have their profit reduced by approximately $38,000 – $40,500/ annually.

In 2020, Western Canadian farmers planted approximately 20.8 million acres of canola. Using these values, cumulatively farm revenues from canola could be reduced by $396M – $441M on an annual basis. Wheat famers could experience a reduction of $400M.

More from Bexte

Of course, reducing nitrogen emissions released by fertilizer crucial to the survivability of the agriculture sector isn’t the only target of Trudeau’s government. Every part of the economy has been negatively impacted by Trudeau’s climate agenda.

On April 1 — the same day he gave himself a raise — Trudeau decided to go ahead and jack up the carbon tax by an additional 25%, consequently increasing the price of practically everything.

With a son who teaches college level English, have to bring up this point. To ‘decimate’ something is to reduce it by one tenth. Think a better word choice would be ‘devastate’, or maybe ‘destroy’. Otherwise, good article and hope the Canadian Parliament will give Justin a no-confidence vote and boot his backside out of Ottawa.

Yup, TonyG. Language isn’t static.

I’d bet 95% of the people here who were educated before about 1975 or thereabouts know that decimated means to reduce by a tenth and was a harsh disciplinary action used by the Roman military.

But the word now is in common usage by people who have been indoctrinated, not educated, and to them it means “Like almost totally like wiped out, d-u-u-u-u-d-e!!”

No nation will survive by voting alone. The Great Reset/Liberal World Order Plan is in full progress. The WEF/Globalists now have a firm grip on every government in the West and will continue to strangle the economies until they reach their maximum 500 million population of “vaccinated” genetically engineered humanoids.

As Larry Bell at CFACT wrote: Following up on Joe’s “as long as it takes,” response to a press reporter’s question at the June 28 NATO summit in Madrid regarding how long American drivers should be prepared to endure premium gasoline penalties, his top economic advisor highlighted the key reason this pump pain patience is so important.

When asked for comments later that day by CNN‘s Victor Blackwell “What do you say to the families that say ‘we can’t afford to pay $4.85 a gallon for months, if not years,’ this is not sustainable,” White House National Economic Council director Brian Deese affirmed:

“What you heard from the president today was a clear articulation of the stakes.”

Deese then clarified that “This is about the future of the liberal world order, and we have to stand firm.”

The only question remaining is, how much longer will the masses allow themselves to be annihilated slowly?

Dutch Farmers Are Rebelling Against Great Reset, Says Leading Politician
Believes government wants land to house migrants
By Nathan Worcester July 11, 2022 Updated: July 11, 2022

Dutch farmers are fighting the globalist Great Reset through their protests against aggressive new government climate policies, according to Dutch politician Thierry Baudet.

“The real point here is the Great Reset, mass migration, [and] transnational governance. And that’s why the people have to become atomized—they have to lose their connection with the land. And that’s why they’re hitting the farmers,” he said.

Baudet, a member of the Dutch House of Representatives and leader of the political party Forum for Democracy, made the remark during a July 8 interview with Roman Balmakov, host of EpochTV’s “Facts Matter.”

The interview can be viewed on EpochTV as part of a new video, “Farmer Rebels.” More footage from the Netherlands will be released over the next few days.

On a July 5 episode of EpochTV’s “Crossroads with Joshua Philipp,” Philipp also covered the Dutch farmer protests.

“This is not just a Netherlands thing—this is an all of Europe thing as well,” he said, noting that protests have spread across the continent, partly in connection with similar policies from the European Commission.

Baudet also spoke to The Epoch Times on July 5.

Also keep in mind that Dutch farmers have reduced their NH3 emissions from 330kton in the early 90’s to 110kton in recent years.

While the WEF/Globalists are destroying supply chains and our food supply, don’t overlook this flanking movement to immobilize us.

The End Of Private Car Ownership

The reality is that car ownership offers mobility and independence. That is exactly what the leftist radicals making social policy want to eliminate. Gas prices are not Putin’s price hike, they’re the Green Dream. And that dream isn’t to put you in a Nissan Leaf. It’s the Pol Pot dream of dismantling civilization and rolling back the industrial revolution.

Once the dark age norms of their dark enlightenment are restored, peasants will go back to being pedestrians and only the progressive philosopher kings will ride.

You will drive nothing and you will be happy.

The term “pedestrian” originally had a derogatory meaning because peasants walked while nobles were “equestrians” and rode horses. The industrial revolution eliminated this class difference, as it did so many others, by making car ownership available to the masses until eventually Herbert Hoover was able to boast that “Republican prosperity has reduced and increased earning capacity” to “put the proverbial ‘chicken in every pot’ and a car in every backyard to boot.”

Democrats have spent two generations trying to get those cars out of every backyard. Biden is trying to bring back Obama’s mileage standards that were estimated to raise car prices by 20%.The goal is to “nudge 40% of U.S. drivers into electric vehicles by decade’s end.”

Will 40% of Americans be able to afford electric cars that cost an average of $54,000 by 2030? Not likely. Nor are they meant to. Biden’s radical ‘green’ government, which includes Tracy Stone-Manning, the former spokeswoman for an ecoterrorist group as the head of the Bureau of Land Management, isn’t looking to nudge drivers into another type of cars, but out of cars.

Gas prices are a way to price Americans out of car ownership under the guise of pushing EVs.

Biden’s Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm responded to American concerns about high gas prices by urging them to buy electric cars. Granholm, who had promoted a green energy tycoon who spent years in prison for fraud, who had served on the board of directors of an electric battery company, and made millions divesting stock in an electric vehicle manufacturer, is a fan.

“Most electric vehicles are now cheaper to own than gas-powered cars from the day you drive them off the lot,” Granholm tweeted.

That isn’t actually true, but actual cars have become more expensive to own, largely because of efforts by the Biden Administration, and by various states, including California. That hasn’t however made electric cars any more affordable for ordinary Americans.

Since we want to regulate carbon because of carbon dioxide, then it also must follow that we also want to regulate nitrogen because of oxides of nitrogen.

The atmosphere is 80% nitrogen, so there is lots to tax and regulate.

The EPA is threatening to shut down the Permian Basin over ozone rules. If so, 40% of the US oil/gas will be shut down. In parallel, Russia is threatening to shut down gas to Germany. Along with rules designed to limit nitrogen fertilizers, we are facing economic devastation and starvation that will plummet the world into chaos. Perhaps this will awaken democratic nations to the risks embodied in the green hysteria.

Perhaps nuclear energy and rolling back proposed green regulations will happen, but we are in for a rocky ride!

Since CBC and other major news networks, which Canadians trusted, did not cover information about the WEF agenda, voters had no idea that Justin Trudeau and his cabinet members had been “penetrated” by the WEF.
CBC and other major networks flooded the airwaves with climate change alarmism for more than a decade.
Also, indoctrination of alarmism occurred at all levels of academic institutions.
Was there any mention of Klaus Schwab and the WEF agenda before it came out recently through independent media?

The attack on farming in both Canada and Netherlands is anti-human. In both cases reducing exports will hurt someone else somewhere else with real food shortages, aside from driving up prices in the home countries.

These people are either perfectly ignorant or mentally deranged.

‘Nitrogen’ as is referred to, or Gaseous Nitrogen Compounds escaping from agriculture are all, with one exception of N2O laughing gas, are all immensely soluble in water. They will be washed out of the sky in no time flat.

N2O is not water soluble but is a (Quote the wiki) “powerful oxidiser similar to molecular oxygen”

iow Nitrous Oxide is effectively, chemically = Oxygen

But it’s also a ‘powerful scavenger of Ozone’

Ozone in the lower atmosphere is perfectly hideous stuff, for plants and critters and everybody – anything that ‘takes it down‘ is surely to be welcomed.

But no. It’s demonised in exactly the same way carbon dioxide is: CO2 and water being joint equal in their importance to all life on Earth.
And if you wanted to make that a triumvirate, you’d add (water soluble) Nitrogen compounds.
I’m badly tempting fate here but they’re not planning on taxing lightning bolts next? ## Lightning, as I understood was an essential in the creation Life On Earth – way back when when Primordial Soup was the only thing on the menu.

….what has gone wrong in this world..

## I love to visit here now and again if anything appears on the news & weather ‘radar’
Have a play with it and you’ll find it will zoom right in to where and when every individual bolt landed, down to ‘field level’ if not street and house level AND, every single one of them is (already) catalogued.
There’ll be no escape.

They have done everything in their power to disrupt US fertilizer use this spring including “accidents” at fertilizer plants and the Union Pacific Railroad limiting fertilizer shipments to our grain and corn producers during the Spring planting season. This is all part of the plan to create major food shortages in the Western Nations. The Russian/ Ukrainian war could very well be part of the plan to destroy the West.

All that is required at this point for Canada to succumb to totalitarianism is for the public to abandon their principles & responsibilities and to repeat Trudeau’s lies when asked. Democracy there is hanging by a thread; what will the people do about it?

How far is the US from a similar situation? I used to think quite far. But now I’m not so sure, given how many people unquestioningly rolled over to the unconstitutional and ineffective Covid-19 shutdowns. Was that just a test to see how far they could push their authority and to determine how sheep-like the people were? If so, I’m terrified at what they concluded.

Maybe it is time to stock up on canned goods, rice, and ammo. I hope it doesn’t come to that, but I’ve never been more concerned about our Republic, and I’m 60 years old, so I’ve lived through a lot of “crises” before.

To suppress the population they intend to do it with poverty. The old USSR is an example of food shortage and waiting lines to enter the grocery store with many empty shelves. In other words occupy the people’s time with survival. It won’t work of course but then there is nothing original about them.

Washington would do whatever it takes to prevent that, and Ontario and Quebec would do whatever they could to legitimize the obstruction.
