For the better part of a decade, the public has been told by a compliant news media that a sweeping economic transformation to adapt for “climate change” —marketed under various banners like “net zero,” “ESG,” and the ever-nebulous “Great Reset”—was both inevitable and urgent. Governments, banks, multinational corporations, and advocacy groups aligned themselves around aggressive emissions targets, climate finance pledges, and regulatory frameworks designed to reshape energy systems and, by exte...

Once again, thank you President Trump. All it took is someone with balls and common sense to make it happen.
He’s not an intellectual. Since when have great nations wanted to be led by intellectuals? I believe George Washington didn’t go to school at all. Abe Lincoln, I think, went just a few years. Today they wouldn’t have a chance of being elected. Trump knows how the world works and has the guts to make things happen. And he’s survived numerous attempts and bringing him down- with impeachments, law suits, and a gun shot. He’ll get good coverage in future history books.
Except history books are written by intellectuals. So maybe not. These folks regard the word populist as a bad name.
Yes George Washington, from a wealthy family did go to school until about 15. He got on the job training to get his surveyors qualification- which was maths mostly. he was an extensive reader through his life
An BSc in Economics that Trump has is totally an intellectual qualification
Teddy Roosevelt was the most intellectual of Presidents, wrote 18 books on history, politics, and natural history .
Abraham Lincoln was a self educated intellectual and is rated up there with Thomas Jefferson as an intellectual
Garfield was also rated as an intellectual, before public office was a university President.
Regarding Washington’s education. I asked ChatGPT. It agreed he went to school until about 15, but:
“An BSc in Economics that Trump has is totally an intellectual qualification”
You wouldn’t know listening to him much of the time- though of course that’s his act. In private it’s said he sounds different- even Bill Mahar says this, that when he had dinner with Trump at the White House, Trump was very polite and intelligent. Just saying though- that most highly educated people don’t lower their speaking level in public- if anything they try to raise it. I’m not being critical. If it works for Trump to be popular with the less educated, then it’s a good plan. Few people could pull it off.

Two days in a row (?) with posts for subscribers only. Me thinks the entire site will be subscribers only soon. If it goes that route it’ll lose its influence. What is the cost by the way? My only income is a trivial social insecurity check every month. I don’t think I’ll be interested in paying. If I had real pension I would.
We are in a fight for survival. So there’s more. But we will NEVER go full subscription. Right now it is $14.95/month See https://wattsupwiththat.com/plans-support-climate-realism-choose-the-membership-that-fits-you-best/
Its $15 pm for the premium, thats $3.50 pw . thats affordable if you read all of the content.
You can also go ad free for $6 per month or choose not to block adverts. Both help to keep this website running for those of us on paltry pensions.
Of course, it surprises me that WUWT needs financial support, Anthony’s 32 bedroomed, 12 pool mansion is swimming in FF money 😉
But of course, I flew a drone over his mansion as you can see. 🙂
Yes, the world is in a ‘Great Retreat’ from the fantasy world of civilization running on renewable energy sources. Reality has a way of intruding on hopes & dreams… Lol.
But we should not expect the alarmists to abandon their climate crisis mindset. “Climate change” has become part of their identity and too great of an emotional investment to relinquish; most are just biding their time till Trump is gone.
Here in the US, if the Democrats regain power in the November elections, much of Trump’s policies will be reversed. Of course, reality will still be in charge.
“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn’t go away.”

We are not in the 70s anymore. Fossil fuel demand destruction is here to stay.
Meanwhile, back in the real world…
Electric vehicle sales are plummeting. Will they soon become too niche? – ABC News
Why do some people SAY the world should live without all the massive benefits of fossil fuels…. but would never do it themselves.
Every facet of western civilisation is there because of fossil fuels.
Physics and economics is not on your side. The coming Green Wall is in sight.
Within the next decade+ (IMO), we will see so-called renewables decreasing in world energy %, due to old solar and wind farms not being replaced as they age out since noone wants to spend the money to rebuild them. EVs are reduced to a niche market among the wealthy and virtue-signaling.
And you will simply leave this site. We’ll never hear from you and have the chance to rub your nose in it. Of that I am certain.
Sadly I suspect that latest by 2030 most here will see that my predictions about renewable adoption were right and leave this site.
A lot of people here already have PV on their roof and still can’t see the systematic change we are currently in.
But here’s hoping that even after 2030 this site defies reality and waits for the “anyday now people will wake up and shun renewables” messiah 😀
There’s a page on this site for all the predictions made by your team that have failed to come true.
The only reason why anyone has PV on their rooftops is because PV systems are massively subsidized. Every time the subsidies are cut back, PV systems are quickly abandoned.
PV systems are great in summer in Australia if you are at home most of the day…
On hot days, I can run two air conditioners, and use mostly electricity from the panels.
But, with feed-in tariffs basically disappearing, they are not worth it for working people because they don’t work when needed in the evening.. That means they have to get a battery storage with all the issues and cost involved or pay premium electricity price.
In winter, I need heating in the morning and evening.. Solar cannot provide electricity for either, so all I get is a large electricity bill with a feeble feed-in refund. 🙁
Add your predictions here , so we can have a laugh alongside the next manufactured crisis.
H.L. Mencken, In Defense of Women
In NSW Australia, there was a massive slump in renewable investments in 2025.
Solar farm investment doesn’t make sense, because they only produce when all the rooftop solar is also producing. That means that grid prices are often negative.
Same with wind.. when they are producing large amounts of electricity, the price is near zero or negative.
It is wind and solar that threaten energy security..
Energy security CAN ONLY be provided by high quality dispatchable supplies.. In Australia, that means COAL and GAS
The transition to ‘green’ energy is, simply put, impossible. There are not enough known reserves of the required materials to complete even the initial application, let alone any subsequent replacements as the machinery wears out. Dr Simon Michaux explains:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBVmnKuBocc
We cannot build sufficient ‘renewables’ to power the world. We cannot replace every vehicle on the planet with a battery powered equivalent, and in fact the end game is that none of us will be able to own a car. It is inconceivable that governments around the world are unaware of these issues, so why the continued push for the unachievable? None of this ‘net zero’ project is about the environment, it is about removing your freedom of movement and freedom of choice, to be replaced with small, brutal and short lives for the majority of us, whilst the politicians and elites continue with their excesses and we pay for it. The pursuit of a completely unachievable goal is harming the planet more than a miniscule increase in plant food in the atmosphere, with all the mining, refining and processing of the materials needed for the moronic belief that we can power the world with windmills, a blight on the landscape and responsible for the wholesale massacre of not only thousands of birds and bats, but insects by the trillion. Bees are not dying out because of “climate change”, you’ll find their remains in the sticky mess that coats wind turbine blades. It’s time to stop the daily bombardment of lies and propaganda we have been subjected to.
This is nice to hear; yet fossil fuels still account for 82% of all global energy generated. And if renewables are coming on so strong, where are all the electric-powered aircraft, long-haul trucks, and heavy duty farm machines? Why isn’t renewable power providing heating and cooling for all the homes, buildings, factories, etc. We’ve been waiting for decades for renewables to take over global energy supplies and they’re still just the climate alarmist’s pipe dream.
Your only mental skill is seeing only what your handlers tell you to see.
MUR:
Silly! The Iran war proves how little benefit your beloved wind/solar/batteries can provide to a modern economy!
Speaking of reality, it appears you have done no research. Here is Copilot’s response to a simple query: “How have clean energy ETFs done over the past 5 years compared to the S&P 500, and fossil fuel based ETFs? Do not include after Trump’s bombing of Iran”
. Clean Energy ETFs Underperformed Dramatically:
ICLN’s negative [ -19.75% ] 5‑year return reflects:
2. Fossil‑Fuel‑Related Market Exposure Strongly Outperformed
SPYX—despite excluding reserve‑owning fossil‑fuel companies—tracks the broader market and benefited from:
3. S&P 500 Outperformed Clean Energy but Slightly Trailed SPYX
The S&P 500’s 5‑year return (~87%) is robust but still below SPYX’s ~95%.
This is what happens when the mainstream media, who are supposed to be presenting balanced accounts of issues, allow themselves to be bought off and bribed by a variety of pressure groups. Among the worst of these are governments who saw the climate issue as an opportunity to benefit from the revenue from what were unnecessary eco-taxes to supposedly combat a non-crisis. Those same governments also allowed themselves to be coerced by green product peddlers looking for subsidies for items that couldn’t sell on their own. This led to mandates for manufactures for which there was little demand from the outset. Now that resistance has been growing toward what has been essentially pocket-picking to pursue unattainable goals like Net Zero and similar pie-in-the-sky endeavors, the culprits mentioned above have been backing off as they realize that they are losing not only public support but also large investments by supporting products that just don’t work.
