Press Secretary Psaki: Biden Administration Sending Emergency Diesel Generators to Texas

Guest essay by Eric Worrall

h/t ResourceGuy; If you were expecting President Biden to ship emergency solar panels to Texas, you were wrong. Looks like when renewable energy fails, as it did in Texas, even the Biden administration turns to more reliable forms of energy.

Biden administration sending generators to Texas amid power outages

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said at a briefing on Wednesday that the Biden administration is sending emergency generators to Texas amid ongoing power outages and freezing weather.

Why it matters: Huge swaths of Texas have been without electricity for days due to critical failures in the state’s power grid. The outages come while a winter storm continues to pummel the state, causing unsafe conditions and a desperate need for heat.

Read more: https://news.yahoo.com/biden-administration-sending-generators-texas-192232560.html

Click here to see a video of Jen Psaki explaining the plan to send diesel generators to Texas and other states likely to be affected by winter storms.

Even if a storm like this only happens ever 20 years, going 100% renewable is clearly now unacceptable. People who rely on electricity for heating are in deadly danger, if the only source of power is renewable energy, and the renewable energy systems freeze solid during severe ice storms.

If the plan is to maintain enough diesel backup to keep the lights on when renewables fail, renewables will never be affordable. Consumers will be saddled with the expense of maintaining the renewable infrastructure, and the additional expense of maintaining a complete second set of power infrastructure at operational readiness, ready to switch on when the renewables fail.

The media is trying to gas-light the public about Raggedy Ann’s reputation for lying and then trying to cover it up.
see this:
https://clarion.causeaction.com/2021/01/20/nbc-fake-news-lies-about-psakis-great-reputation-omit-manipulated-presser-video/

Quick recap:
In 2013 Foxnews reporter James Rosen caught then State Dept spokesperson Psaki lying about Iran negotiations and questioned her on it at an official State press briefing. The official State Dept video was later edited and that 8 minute segment was deleted from official video transcript. FOIA inquiries showed the order to delete the 8 minutes came from Psaki’s office to the State Dept IT media operations. Very Orwellian, sending unfavorable stuff to the memory hole and gas lighting the public about it.

She’s a proven liar and tried to cover it up. Like Susan Rice, the willingness to lie is considered an asset in the Biden-Harris-Obama Admin. No doubt she’ll try it again if the “need” arises.

But renewables didn’t fail: gas plant did. Uninspected gas plant. Gas plant that Texas was warned needed winterisation.

Once again, the facts contradict what griff wants to believe.

Wind did not provide expected 20 GW. Nor did the backup power source. Clearly, it is the backup’s fault.

Since I can’t paste in the chart, I will list the data points.

Source: U.S. EIA

Change in Power Output February 8-16, 12 AM (% chg, MWH)

Wind -93%
Coal +47%
Gas +450%
Nuclear -26%

The values from the chart in MWH are approx. as follows.

Wind -19,800 MWH
Coal +2,500 MWH
Gas +24,700 MWH
Nuclear -1,000 MWH

Griff,

Tell me where I’m wrong or where EIA data is wrong. I really want to know your data and source for similar multi-day period information. The press is taking your side on this story so tell me what I’m missing.

Griff?? CNN? NPR?? troll-land??

griff is lying again. Unreliable renewables DID fail. What obviously happened is Texas spent too much money on unreliable renewables and not enough on reliable, dispatchable backup. Obvious to anyone with half a brain.

And it was the Board of Directors, Democrat Greenies all, in charge of the ERCOT that decided to spend the money on wind/solar rather then winterization. Just one more unintended consequence of wind/solar caused by Democrat Greenies that are politicians and not engineers.

Poor griff, FACTS AND DATA mean NOTHING to you do they

Just make up your own little NON-REALITY as you go.

Wind and solar collapsed nearly COMPLETELY

THANK GOODNESS FOR ALL THAT GAS POWERED ELECTRICITY

Well, I think you could power a suburban block with one, if you kept usage to a minimum, how many thousand are they sending?

I should also say, I was thinking of semi-trailer sized generators. If they decide on home usage sized units, it will take about 1 per four households.

Who is winning the race to the bottom?

The dirty secret of Britain’s power madness: Polluting diesel generators built in secret by foreign companies to kick in when there’s no wind for turbines – and other insane but true eco-scandals

Thousands of dirty diesel generators are being secretly prepared all over Britain to provide emergency back-up to prevent the National Grid collapsing when wind power fails.

And under the hugely costly scheme, the National Grid is set to pay up to 12 times the normal wholesale market rate for the electricity they generate.

The Democrats own this one. Policies pushed by Dems for years are the root cause. And Biden hasn’t a clue how to fix it, either short term or long term. Maybe this can be the defining event of his presidency.

For the first time in my life, I bought a portable gas generator and now store 20 gallons of gasoline in my garage for just such an occasion. This is not because of climate change, but due to climate change mitigation, which has turned our state into a third world electrical grid of unstable and intermittent power distribution. Be prepared yourself, because the government isn’t as has been clearly demonstrated recently time and time again.

I’m sure those generators will get there by the weekend – just as the grid is restored. Thanks President Biden. /sarc

If they were serious about helping, they would send some of those little nuclear power plants from the strategic submarine reserve. A dozen or so for the bigger cities should be about right.

If any Republican President had moved at the snails pace Biden has on sending Federal relief in this situation the press would have started to crucify him/her long ago.

You don’t think sending it on the 14th as soon as the governor asked was quick enough?
“I thank President Biden for quickly issuing a Federal Emergency Declaration for Texas as we continue to respond to severe winter weather conditions throughout the state,” said Governor Abbott. “This disaster declaration provides Texas with additional resources and assistance that will help our communities respond to this winter weather.”

What did he send? Portable diesel generators that won’t be needed by the time they arrive? It’s just one more perfect example of how idiotic government can be. He should have been dispatching copper pipe and drywall to repair all the damage from frozen pipes. It would be a *LOT* more useful than portable generators sitting on pallets somewhere.

When the renewables were installed reliable coal was reduced. Had coal still been running there would have been plenty of backup. NG output actually increased. It just was insufficient increase. One reason is that wind powers the compressors to move gas from the permian basin.

There are usually floating power plants moored around the globe to supply power to third world countries. Maybe Texas can get a few of the idle ones to dock in Texas to get the lights back on.
