Not just for energy, but for every aspect of our lives, living standards, culture and freedoms
David Wojick and Paul Driessen

Kamala Harris co-sponsored the Senate resolution to support the Green New Deal. Now Joe Biden has endorsed the plan. Naturally, people want to know what the GND will cost – usually meaning in state and federal government spending. But that is the wrong question.
The real question is, how much do Green New Dealers expect to get out of it, at what total cost? Mr. Biden says he wants the feds to spend nearly $7 trillion over the next decade on healthcare, energy and housing transformation, climate change and other GND agenda items. But that is only part of the picture.
Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (who has a degree in some socialist version of economics) and the folks who helped her write Biden’s so-called Climate Plan have a clear idea of how much money they want, and pretty much know where they expect the money to come from. Here it is in its clearest form, as stated by Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s then chief of staff, Saikat Chakrabarti:
“The resolution describes the 10-year plan to transform every sector of our economy to remove GHG [greenhouse gases] and pollution. It says it does this through huge investments in renewables, at WW2 scales (which was 40-60% of America’s GDP).” [emphasis added]
World War II was a time of great sacrifice and hardship, as part of a dramatic and historic mobilization to win a horrific global war. However, that hard reality doesn’t matter to these folks. They say we are now waging a war to stop catastrophic climate change. So money, sacrifice and disruption are irrelevant.
Our nation’s GDP is around $20 trillion a year, or $200 trillion in ten years. 40-60% of that is $80-120 trillion. For simplicity, let’s call it an even $100 trillion to finance the Green New Deal utopian dream.
$100 trillion! The ways and means of raising this stupendous sum are also clear in their minds. It will be done the same way WW2 was financed, however that was. To them, it’s obvious that we can simply do this, because we did it before. The specifics don’t matter. Government elites will figure them out.
But even this arrogant, cavalier attitude is only part of the picture.
If you read what Green New Dealers say, confusion arises because people think the GND is an ordinary policy proposal: “Here’s what we want done, and this what it should cost.” It is nothing like that. The Green New Deal is more along the lines of, “Here’s the level of effort we require to transform our entire economy, and this is what we should be able to do with that much money.”
People tend to interpret Green New Dealer talk of a WW2-like mobilization as a simple metaphor. But these folks mean it as an actual measure of what they are determined to do. So far they have glossed over and ignored the extreme hardships of mobilization. Here’s just one example – not from front lines mayhem, but from the United States home front during World War II.
Gasoline, meat and clothing were tightly rationed. Most families were allocated three US gallons of gasoline a week, which sharply curtailed driving for any purpose. Production of most durable goods, like cars, new housing, vacuum cleaners and kitchen appliances, was banned until the war ended. In industrial areas housing was in short supply as people doubled up and lived in cramped quarters. Prices and wages were controlled. [Harold Vatter, The US Economy in World War II]
No doubt the Green New Deal mobilization would impose different hardships. But all mobilizations are oppressive. You can’t commandeer half of the GDP without inflicting severe disruption on people’s lives.
The argument is sound in its way, provided there is a need for all-out war – which there is not. The minor to modest temperature, climate and extreme weather changes we’ve been seeing (in the real world outside computer models) explain why most Americans see no need for a painful war. So does the fact that China, India and other emerging economies are not about to give up fossil fuels anytime soon.
In fact, polls show that roughly half of Americans do not even believe in the idea of human caused global warming, much less that it is an “existential threat,” as Senator Harris claims it is. The latest Gallup poll found that only 1% of US adults consider “climate change/environment/pollution” to be “the most important problem facing this country today.” That’s down from a meager 2% in the May 28-June 4 poll.
Even more revealing, a 2019 AP-NORC poll found that 68% of adult Americans were unwilling to pay even an extra $10 on their monthly electricity bill to combat global warming. Indeed, 57% of them would not be willing to pay more than $1.00 in added electricity charges to fight climate change!
Just wait until they see what the Biden-Harris-AOC-Democrat Green New Deal would cost them.
And it’s not just that their costs would likely skyrocket from an average US 13.2¢ per kilowatt hour (11.4¢ or less in ten states) to well beyond the nearly 20¢ per kWh that families are already paying in California and New York, or the 30¢ that families are now paying in ultra-green Germany. Or that factories, businesses, hospitals, schools and everyone else would also see their costs escalate – with blue collar families, the sick and elderly, poor and minority communities hammered hardest.
It’s that the GND would force every American to replace their gasoline and diesel cars and trucks with expensive short-haul electric vehicles; their gas furnaces and stoves with electric systems; their home, local and state electrical and transmission systems with expensive upgrades that can handle a totally electric economy. They’ll see their landscapes, coastlines and wildlife habitats blanketed with wind turbines, solar panels, transmission lines and warehouses filled with thousands of half-ton batteries. Virtually every component of this GND nation would be manufactured in China and other faraway places.
The cost of this massive, total transformation of our energy and economic system would easily reach $10 trillion: $30,000 per person or $120,000 per family – on top of those skyrocketing electricity prices. And that’s just the intermittent, unreliable energy component of this all-encompassing Green New Deal.
These are stupendous, outrageous costs and personal sacrifices. Every American, at every campaign event and town meeting, should ask Green New Deal supporters if they think America needs to – or can afford to – cough up $10 trillion or $100 trillion over the next ten years. And not let them get away with glib, evasive answers, or attempts to laugh these questions off as meritless or irrelevant.
The American people are not about to be mobilized into an all-out war against dubious climate change, with price tags like these coupled with repeated blackouts, huge personal sacrifices, and massive joblessness in every sector of the economy – except among enlightened government ruling classes.
They’ve already seen news stories about the latest rolling blackouts in California (here, here, here and here) – resulting from one-third of that state’s electricity coming from “renewable” sources, and with another third of the state’s electricity imported from other states that also get heat waves. They should ponder what their lives, livelihoods and living standards would be under 100% wind and solar power.
And yet, once again, even all this insanity is only a small part of the picture.
Remember, the Green New Deal is also about government run healthcare – and an economy and nation where “progressive” “woke” legislators, regulators, judges and activists tell companies what they can manufacture and sell … and tell us what we can buy, eat and drink; how and how much we can heat and cool our homes; and what we can read, hear, think and say, as they “transform” our culture and traditions.
The GND is being promoted by politicians, news and social media, “educators” and “reformers” who also want to eliminate free enterprise capitalism; have totally open borders, even for criminals and people who might have Covid and other diseases; and want to defund the police, put anarchists, looters and arsonists back on our streets, and take away our right and ability to defend ourselves, our homes and our families.
The time to think long and hard about all of this is NOW. Not sometime after the November 3 elections.

Green, not green, perhaps gray, founded on false premises. Leftists are infamous for ostensibly well-intentioned, forward-looking wicked solutions.
“The Green New Deal means monumental disruption.”

which is the actual goal of proposal.
Don’t worry, the Woke-brigade will tear down the monument – when they learn.
I haven’t seen anything about GND plans for farm machinery. Electric tractors? Combines? Has anyone seen something relating to this?
The international rep for a major farm equipment manufacturer
tells me that there is NO such thing as a an electric combine , and he knows of
no plan by anyone to even produce a prototype .
Not going to happen …..

The common characteristic of all varieties of authoritarianism is the intention of compelling the opinion of others. The Democrats are in league with major tech companies, universities and media organisations to compel the opinion of Americans. We may hope that Americans will defeat their would be oppressors.
The “New Green Deal” is never supposed to work .
Environmentally it is dangerous and useless.
But politically it is glorious,Gang Green loves Big Green in the form of taxpayers money.
This CAGW scam is a true winner for stealing millions of taxpayers dollars, while mouthing empty platitudes.
Graft pure and simple.
Todays Snake Oil is “Save the Planet”.
The unifying mark of Gang Green is that their “problem” is nonexistent.
Their solution is always Other Peoples Money.
And their actions always drive toward,More Power (For them).
Gang Green is the conglomerate of parasites.
The GND means the Demotards have lost the plot. They are in cuckoo land, and want to bring everyone else there. No thanks. Chumps. I can’t stand Trump, and don’t believe he can string two intelligent words together, but I’m voting for him. Thanks, Demotards. You did this.
I’m not a US citizen, so I can’t vote, but I’d vote Trump too. And concerning “can’t string two intelligent words together”, I’ve watched a few of his speeches on u-tube, and especially the one he gave in Scotland before Brexit impressed me very much. I think he’s a better speaker than most of my ex-bosses.

The late Dr. John Kenneth Galbraith was employed in the Office of Price Administration (OPA) in World War II and spent part of his time there assessing the effectiveness of the government’s wartime rationing program.
Dr. Galbraith once remarked that the wartime rationing program was generally effective and that most people supported it and willingly complied with it in most respects — except for one rationed product, gasoline.
People would trade their first born child for a full tank of gasoline.
Here in 2020, the president has full authority under current environmental and national security law to declare a carbon pollution emergency and to then use that declaration as a justification for imposing a strictly-enforced system of carbon fuel rationing on the US economy.
If human-driven climate change is in fact the urgent crisis the Biden-Harris team says that it is, they have no other choice morally or ethically but to immediately impose a program of strict carbon fuel rationing on the American people, doing so on the same day they enter the White House.
If the Biden-Harris team will not commit to imposing that kind of strict rationing program as soon as it takes office, then they do not honestly believe that human-driven climate change is in fact an urgent crisis.
Couldn’t resist

The Russian revolution never ended, Marxists just went stealth and now it’s coming out time. I have faith that the American people aren’t gullible enough to allow Marxism/Socialism to take over their country no matter how many rioters/protestors Organize For Action can muster. I also see a possible sedition indictment in the future for Obama.
Joe Biden’s Green New Deal/Climate Change argument at the presidential debate: It’s the Science, Man! It’s the Science! I follow the Science!
Trump: Go tell it to William Happer.
The GND has nothing to do with climate. Its part of the Great Reset thats being rolled out next year globally. Called the 4th Industrial Revolution it will use AI, 5G, robotics, genetics to transform society into an authoritarian Technocracy with digital currency, digital ID and 24/7 surveillance/tracking, health mandates (testing, vaccination, modification) and control over consumption (fake meat for most of us, reduced travel). All to meet Agenda 2030 and Sustainable Development Goals. Larry Fink Black Rock is now reallocating wealth to corporations on board with the program using the assets 28 trillion in assets under his direct/indirect control plus investing the trillions the Fed his creating for him to invest and loan out.
Its happening. Trump was the set up guy. Their Trojan Horse
I vaguely recall from my reading of history that the USA peaked at around 30% of GDP for war production… not 30% during the war but rose to that peak then tapered off somewhat to the end of the war…/ so these idiots want to massively exceed the WW2 economic focus. Words cannot describe adequately what I think.
This recollection is in reference to a news article published about same specifically so that it would be copied to Germany in 1943? by foreign embassys to cause a loss of confidence there.
Unlike the current crop of Democrats, Genghis Khan knew enough to preserve those with knowledge.
AOC has no intention of taxing people to pay for the program. She thinks that because the government can print money, it can’t run out of it. That is a true statement up to a point, That approach causes inflation and at the rate the want to do it, hello Veimar Republic. Any savings you have will become worthless and will go toward paying for this green monster.
For a while I couldn’t figure out why the prime rate was near zero until I found that the Federal reserve board was buying government paper at very low interest rates. The system is already being used and is paying for the massive deficit the government is currently running. The government is claiming very low inflation rates however because they are making the call, their numbers will disagree with your budget. For numbers that are much closer to reality, follow the link.

My line is that “the only warrant for government power is existential peril.”
People that go into politics are interested in power. But they can only get power during an emergency.
It has to be “the Russians are coming,” or “the white nationalists are coming.” Or “the end of the world.”
Unless we act now. The only question for the politicos is “can I sell it to the rubes?”
I’ve heard the Paris Climate Accord was simply the front end of the Green New Deal! I’m glad President Trump got us out of that sorry mess like he got us out of the TPP, which can be argued was another part of our transition into inescapable destruction!
“So does the fact that China, India and other emerging economies are not about to give up fossil fuels anytime soon.”
I’ve commented on this before here and IMO this is the crux of the entire climate change policy agenda run by the UN. The UN always knew it was not possible to grow an economy using RE, because RE can only exist alongside traditional sources of generation, being limited by the existing thermal sources that need to take over when RE is not available on calm nights or calm cloudy days. This is why they gave a dispensation to developing countries to allow them to increase emissions by as much as they wanted, which has resulted in a doubling of emissions since 1980, all from developing countries and continuing.
What is important here is that all future emissions growth will come from the developing world, because the developed world reached its emissions potential back in 1980. When you consider the emissions potential remaining in the developing world, it is enormous. To determine the emissions potential of the planet is actually quite easy and it can be determined by looking at the collective developed world emissions per billion of population, which comes out at around 30GT per annum and then multiplying that number by 8, which is the population expected by the end of 2020. This means that in 2020 we have a total global emissions of ~105GT but a potential of ~240GT, with the potential 140GT all residing in the developing world. By the end of the century this number will increase as the world population grows to 11B and almost all of this increase will be in the developing world. My breakdown of emissions as follows.
2020 – Total emissions ~105GT
– Developed world = 1.2B people = ~35 GT CO2, Emissions potential remaining = 0 GT.
– Developing world = 6.6B people = ~70 GT CO2, Emissions potential remaining = ~140 GT
Therefore, when considering a GND you need to ask what will it achieve from a climate perspective, because this is the main benefit being advocated for the entire deal. If CC didn’t exist then there would be no GND. What we do know is that the developing world has around 140 GT of remaining emissions potential and you would expect them to realise 30% of this by 2050 and add a further 50GT to the global emissions budget over the next 30 years. The USA emits only about 15GT, meaning the level of emissions will be going up substantially even if a GND did reduce emissions. Noting that RE has not been proven to reduce emissions anywhere to date by any significant amount the GDN would probably reduce only 5GT of CO2 at best, whilst the global emissions climbed up by ~10x this amount over the next 30 years.
However, more importantly what we do know is that climate reductions schemes run in western countries cause global emissions to increase faster. For example, when carbon pricing was introduced in 2005 due to the enforcement of Kyoto penalties, emissions increased faster in the subsequent decade than at any time in human history, due to a combination of industry relocation to developing countries, combined with a rapid ramp up in solar panel and wind turbine production in China, made by fossil fuel energy and then shipped back to developed countries at great profits for China. A GND will do exactly same same and result in a huge exodus of industry from the USA into Asia, speeding up their development and increasing emissions faster than would be the case otherwise. We also know that the UN has no intentions of introducing mandated emissions targets on the developing countries and therefore a GND is purely an exercise in climate futility as well as economic suicide as it will act to drive up global emissions faster and destroy the US economy by making energy scarce and unaffordable.
It is Orwells 1984, imaginary enemy, the country kept on a constant war footing.
“They’ll disarm you, empty the prisons, lock you in your home, and invite [street gang] MS-13 to live next door,” said congressman Matt Gaetz of Florida about the Democrats.
And that is exactly what they are doing.
“The American people are not about to be mobilized into an all-out war against dubious climate change, with price tags like these coupled with repeated blackouts, huge personal sacrifices, and massive joblessness in every sector of the economy” Really? We’ve been mobilized into a dubious all-out war against a survivable, largely manageable and periodically occurring respiratory virus with similar results. Call it a dry run.
The global population is increasing, predominantly in regions where poverty exists, becuase those getting older depend upon offspring to support them, one way or the other. That is achieve only if the supporters can “earn” from jobs/ theft/ state aid etc). Poverty/ filth/ unsanitary conditions, in such states is the continued means of ‘population control’ through famine and disease spread, due to overcrowdung and the continuos ‘lack facilities’, which ‘never seems to be ‘addressesd’, in any meaningful manner, by those who are capable, but in fact not willing, (determined not to) to make chnge happen! No electricity, No clean water, —- No life, for who ever and where ever you are in the world! Some of the world most populous nations on earth encourage increased growth, whilst already being ‘overcowded’, creating ‘increased unnecessay consumption”(energy/ food/ space/jobs/ travel/fuel use/ competition/ waste)all of which must be centerally controlled. More pollution (and illness- deaths) due to all above. More ‘useless jobs’ for the little controllers, more tax, more abuse of abserd ‘power’ by the otherwse ‘powerless’ and underqualified.
Migrants result, resulting in ‘political unrest’ due to ‘racism’, religious ‘divesrity’ and ‘inclusivilty” (all being given priority over ‘normalism’ ) diluting the political, religious persuasion and other ‘rights’ of the indigenous.
Violence results. Calls for more ‘order’ but ‘human rights’ prevents effective order being restores, in favour of the disruptie inclusives.
Fear of more violence and national disruption becomes a new mass ‘controlling influence’.
The age of ‘dare not tell the truth, about virually anything, so let’s emphasis the untrue’ has arrived.
Governments decide how to project ‘life as they think it should be, and not as it really nees to be’!
History has to be altered to reflect failure, not success.
Failure is made to be everyone’s fault, exept those who actually failed!
This becomes the mindset, because no one dares to challenge it!
If we are, as thinking human beings’ internationally incapable of realising these transitions deliberately being politically encouraged, for the worst of reasons, are well underway, then all the ‘charts and predictions’ are utterly irrelevent.
The Green Deal pushers are those who simply do not understand the reasons for our heading for the end of life, as we know it today! Mankind itself is the reason for todays’s problems, not carbon dioxide.
Self sustaining power (nucler and otherwise)is the only enery solution.
Desalination is the clean water answer.
Localised Sustainability will meet the need for the basic foods production, to satisfy people who can ‘move around the world’ by means of ‘virtual travel’ from thier homes, eating global dishes each ‘home delivered meals, prepard by ‘dedicated Spanish / Chinese / Indian /Japanese/ French robot functioning ‘kitchens’ cuting the need for air travel, cruises, long haul “business meetings”, large gatherings (virus risk) etc.
It is not climate change that is ‘driving the need to change’ to save the world. One world power, mass control of life in all it’s forms. is the cause of today’s mad world scenario, and we have opted to accept what we know is ‘not normal’ as a ‘new, and aceptable normal’,which it isn’t. but soon will be!
We are living a lie, we all know it, but dare not admit that!
Politicians, world wide, of what ever persuasion, know it, but the especially dare not admit to the facts, so they very feabily try to give us “thier picture of how they will, with “your wonderful help and collaboraion,my friends” bring about change. They too know that the time to do this has since passed, but they dont want to and dare not tell you the truth, because rhey cant handle either!
Until the world faces the true causes of its fundamental problems, all of which are based on overpopulation, and the false idea that we all want exactly the same things in life (which we dont) there’s no possibility of addressing the causes and then bringing abour a sustaianable world order for our mutual enrichment and eventual survival.
