Obama Ties the Covid-19 Pandemic to Trump’s Rollback of His Climate Change Initiatives

Guest essay by Eric Worrall

Shameless attempt by former President Obama to score political points from the misery of ordinary Americans.

The article referenced by President Obama’s tweet was about President Trump rolling back Obama’s economy killing regulations – at a time when the economy needs all the help it can get.

Trump weakens fuel economy standards, rolling back key U.S. effort against climate change

By ANNA M. PHILLIPSRUSS MITCHELLMARCH 31, 20202:12 PMWASHINGTON —

The Trump administration on Tuesday weakened one of the nation’s most aggressive efforts to combat climate change, releasing new fuel efficiency standards for cars and trucks that handed a victory to the oil and gas industry.

The new rule, from the Environmental Protection Agency and Transportation Department, will almost immediately be plunged into litigation as environmental groups and states with stricter standards, led by California, plan to challenge it.

“We intend to make sure the backsliding doesn’t reach California’s doorstep,” California Atty. Gen. Xavier Becerra said Tuesday in announcing the state’s plan to go to court to defend its tougher standards.

If the administration’s policy survives those fights, it would spare automakers from having to meet ambitious gas mileage and emissions requirements put in place in 2012 under President Obama. It is among the biggest steps the administration has taken to reverse an existing environmental policy.

The final rule is a dialed-down version of the one the administration originally planned. Instead of proposing zero improvements in fuel efficiency in coming years, it would require automakers to increase fuel economy across their fleets by 1.5% a year, with a goal of achieving an average of about 40 miles per gallon by 2026. That’s still a major departure from current rules, which mandate annual increases of 5%, reaching an average of 54 mpg by 2025.

Karl Brauer, an analyst for the research firm Cox Automotive, said that Trump’s rule had put automakers in an impossible position. If they opposed the rollback, their investors would be unhappy. If they endorsed it, they would be branded as anti-environment.

Can you imagine what it would have been like if the Chinese Coronavirus had struck during the Obama Presidency? President Obama would probably have responded to the threat of Coronavirus with an executive order to increase wind turbine funding, like Nancy Pelosi tried to stick in her version of the Coronavirus bill.

I have reached a stage in life where I can look at an issue and if I find no logic or rational explanation for it, it tells me there probably isn’t any.
This latest Sars Cov 2 outbreak is being treated as though it is so life threatening, we have to destroy life ourselves first, before the Covid 19 gets a chance to deal with you.
There is no logic, to what is happening in the world at the moment. It looks like people in authority have decided to take advice from the nutty professor, without any checks or balances.
Only in our current instantly connected world, could such a situation develop allowing herd instincts to take control of world governments.
Sweden are not falling into line with this destroy the economy herd inspired strategy. It will be interesting to watch the numbers unfold, we will compare those governments who chose to destroy their economy and see how they compare with Sweden, who chose to be more sensible.

Balking at these government restrictions has some problems.

If you go against the flow, it has little benefit overall since most everyone is already making restrictions. Second, it gives everyone else an easy excuse in the aftermath. (Sure the economy crumbled, but it was because those rural areas prolonged the outbreak, etc)

Trump seems to be doing about the best thing in the situation, which is to back “the experts”, while saying we need to remember not to make the cure worse than the disease.

The Saul Alinsky & Noam Chomsky Marxist/Socialist methodology adopted by Obama..

RULE 1: “Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have.” Power is derived from 2 main sources – money and people. “Have-Nots” must build power from flesh and blood.

RULE 2: “Never go outside the expertise of your people.” It results in confusion, fear and retreat. Feeling secure adds to the backbone of anyone.

RULE 3: “Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy.” Look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety and uncertainty.

RULE 4: “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules.

RULE 5: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions.

RULE 6: “A good tactic is one your people enjoy.” They’ll keep doing it without urging and come back to do more. They’re doing their thing, and will even suggest better ones.

RULE 7: “A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.” Don’t become old news.

RULE 8: “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.” Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new.

RULE 9: “The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.” Imagination and ego can dream up many more consequences than any activist.

RULE 10: “If you push a negative hard enough, it will push through and become a positive.” Violence from the other side can win the public to your side because the public sympathizes with the underdog.

RULE 11: “The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.” Never let the enemy score points because you’re caught without a solution to the problem.

RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions.

Not only adopted by Obama, but the meme that he was a “Chicago Law Professor” is based on the fact that as a visiting lecturer, he gave courses on Alinsky’s organizing methods.
(In the “famous” photo of him teaching at U of Chicago, the drawing on the blackboard is Alinsky’s organizing model!)
BHO was recruited by the Alinsky organization to “organize” in Chicago.
The link with Bill Ayers and Bernadette Dohrn was not an accident.

President Trump statements
Feb. 7 (tweet): ”… as the weather starts to warm & the virus hopefully becomes weaker, and then gone.”

Feb. 10: “I think the virus is going to be — it’s going to be fine.”

Feb. 14: “We have a very small number of people in the country, right now, with it. It’s like around 12. Many of them are getting better. Some are fully recovered already. So we’re in very good shape.”

Feb. 19: “I think it’s going to work out fine. I think when we get into April, in the warmer weather, that has a very negative effect on that and that type of a virus. So let’s see what happens, but I think it’s going to work out fine.”

Feb. 24 (tweet): “The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA. … Stock Market starting to look very good to me!”

Feb. 25: “You may ask about the coronavirus, which is very well under control in our country. We have very few people with it, and the people that have it are … getting better. They’re all getting better. … As far as what we’re doing with the new virus, I think that we’re doing a great job.”

Feb. 25: “Now they have it, they have studied it, they know very much, in fact, we’re very close to a vaccine,”

Feb. 26: “Because of all we’ve done, the risk to the American people remains very low. … When you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero. That’s a pretty good job we’ve done.”

Feb. 28: “I think it’s really going well. … We’re prepared for the worst, but we think we’re going to be very fortunate.”

Feb. 28: “It’s going to disappear. One day, it’s like a miracle, it will disappear.”

Feb. 28: “This is their new hoax.”

March 4: “Some people will have this at a very light level and won’t even go to a doctor or hospital, and they’ll get better. There are many people like that.”

March 4: Now, this is just my hunch, but based on a lot of conversations with a lot of people that do this, because a lot of people will have this and it is very mild… So if, you know, we have thousands or hundreds of thousands of people that get better, just by, you know, sitting around and even going to work, some of them go to work, but they get better and then, when you do have a death like you had in the state of Washington, like you had one in California, I believe you had one in New York, you know, all of a sudden it seems like 3 or 4 percent, which is a very high number, as opposed to a fraction of 1 percent.

March 9 (tweet): “So last year 37,000 Americans died from the common Flu. It averages between 27,000 and 70,000 per year. Nothing is shut down, life & the economy go on. At this moment there are 546 confirmed cases of CoronaVirus, with 22 deaths. Think about that!”

March 10: “And it hit the world. And we’re prepared, and we’re doing a great job with it. And it will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away.”

March 11: “I think we’re going to get through it very well.”

March 12: “It’s going to go away. … The United States, because of what I did and what the administration did with China, we have 32 deaths at this point … when you look at the kind of numbers that you’re seeing coming out of other countries, it’s pretty amazing when you think of it.”

March 15: “This is a very contagious virus. It’s incredible. But it’s something that we have tremendous control over.”

march 17: “I felt it was a pandemic long before it was called a pandemic”

march 24: “We’re going to be opening relatively soon… I would love to have the country opened up and just raring to go by Easter.” He added in a subsequent interview: “Easter is a very special day for me… and you’ll have packed churches all over our country.”

“Those statements were true at the time he said them.”

That’s right. Trump was just going by the best evidence available at the time. Trump said yesterday he is America’s cheerleader and his aim in all that rhetoric was to keep everyone calm and focused.

If things had been left up to Democrats, the whole nation would look like New York right now, because they would not have put a travel ban into effect and it wouldn’t have taken long for the infection to spread all over the U.S. Even with the travel ban, the infection is all over the place, but luckily, so far there are only a few problem areas.

I wore my N95 mask to go shopping this morning for the first time. There were a lot of people doing the same. I imagine it will become very common, especially when the supply of masks catches up with the demand. They say it is illegal to go outside in public in China without wearing a mask. Before the virus, I used the mask when I mowed the lawn.

With possibly 25 percent of infected people being without any symptoms, but still able to infect others, it might be a good idea for all of us to put on masks in public for the duration.

So, Trump can change his tune when beaten over the head with facts. Good! Proves he’s smart.
Obama dealt with being wrong by going even further the wrong way. A billion and a half of cash for the Ayatollah, cheap at half the price for an Iranian deal. Reduce trade sanctions to induce a regime doing it’s best to produce nuclear weapons. Fat chance of anything going wrong there! O proved he was smart by covering up his hypocrisy.

He’s dishonest like the Democrats I just heard soundbites of, that were encouraging people to go visit Chinatown and go out and eat at restrurants, in an effort to throw cold water on Trump’s travel ban and warnings about the Wuhan virus. The Democrats were downplaying everything and now they claim Trump was downplaying everything. Dishonest Hypocrites.

You stand in the car lot, and there are 2 identical vehicles, for the same price. Identical in every respect – apart from one. One has a higher fuel economy. Once again, a liberal demonstrates that:
1) She despises anyone who isn’t like her.
2) She thinks in stereotypes, she isn’t bright enough to realize that the only ones who believe the stereotypes that she lives by, is herself and her fellow libtards.
3) She actually believes that the overly simplified analogies that she comes up with accurately reflect the real world. (Not that she has ever bothered visiting the real world.)

If the trucks were identical in every way, then by definition they would have the exact same gas mileage. The only way to get a higher gas mileage is to reduce the power, the weight or some combination of the above.

Can you imagine if the time and money spent on climate change had been applied towards better protocols, equipment or anti-viral medicines. Even worse, the Obama administration actually transferred hundreds of millions from the State Department’s global pandemic fund to the UN’s climate change fund.
