Democrat Congressional Committee Demands Google Bury “Climate Misinformation”

Guest essay by Eric Worrall

The U.S. House of Representatives Select Committee on the Climate Crisis has demanded Google demonetize climate skeptics, and provide education to millions of people who have been exposed to “dangerous misinformation”.

Letter from Congress

If the letter is not readable on your device, the original link is available here.

The key actions demanded:

  • Stop promoting climate denial and climate disinformation videos by removing them immediately from the platform’s recommendation algorithm.
  • Add ‘climate misinformation’ to the platform’s list of borderline content
  • Stop monetising videos that promote harmful misinformation and falsehoods about the causes and effects of the climate crisis.
  • Take steps to correct the record for millions of users who have been exposed to the climate misinformation on YouTube.

The people who wrote that letter seem to believe ordinary people are too stupid to figure things out for themselves; they think voters have to be guided into making acceptable choices, by experts like the Democrat majority members of The U.S. House of Representatives Select Committee on the Climate Crisis.

Update(EW): Elizabeth Warren has just announced criminal penalties for tech companies which spread “disinformation”, if the purpose of that alleged disinformation is judged to voter suppression.

Yes, what Elizabeth Warren brazenly calls “disinformation” is really just different opinions. Immanuel Kant described the Enlightenment as “humankind’s emergence from its self-incurred immaturity”, and its submission to “dogmas and formulae” of religion or political authority.

We must defend Enlightenment – that amazing wave of rational, intellectual and humanistic understanding of our human condition which swept over Europe from the mid-18th century – and is the basis for our whole present modern civilisation, such as schools, hospitals, free press – and even the US constitution. Enlightenment is under attack these days – e.g. from ignoramuses like Warren.

Spot on, AGW is Not Science. That is indeed ironic. But that is just how the human psyche works, I am afraid. We get convinced by rumour or by consensus that danger lurks – and, like a flock of grey sparrows all taking flight together, we all (or almost all!) think that we are doing the right, sensible and justifiable thing in reacting like we do.

My comfort is that we, like grey sparrows, eventually come to our senses and realise we were mistaken. And when will that happen? Well, the process is already beginning, I believe – mainly through Donald Trump’s rational actions over the last 3 years.

The way I look at it, the “man caused global warming true believers” may have presented their case, but, they have not proven it. If they really know what is going on, they can tell us exactly how much human activity is effecting climate to 1%, +or- 1%., and their “model” should be better than the national weather bureau forecast for one week.

Looking back, I called it in 2012 (below) and maybe earlier. The phony climate scare was always a smokescreen for the extreme left’s true intention – total control.

Excerpt from my 2012 post below:

50 million people died in Hitler’s WW2. Josef Stalin killed another 50 million of his own people in internal purges. Leftist hero Mao gets the prize, killing as many as 80 million Chinese during his Great Leap Backward.

The radical environmental movement has done equally well, rivaling Mao for fatalities caused by the banning of DDT and the misallocation of scarce global resources on the fraud of catastrophic humanmade global warming.

Since many of these enviro radicals are latter-day Malthusians, Club of Rome types, etc., it is reasonable to assume that THIS WAS THEIR INTENTION.

Regards, Allan

Instead of arguing about the science of global warming, we should just listen to what these enviro radicals are actually SAYING and DOING.

Maybe they know their global warming science is bogus, but it suits their purpose to use global warming hysteria as a smokescreen to mask their true intentions.

The radical warmists have done everything in their power to starve the world of fossil fuel energy that is required for continued global prosperity.

They have squandered a trillion dollars of scarce global resources on catastrophic humanmade global warming (CAGW) nonsense.

Investing these squandered resources in clean drinking water and sanitation alone would have saved the ~50 million kids who died from drinking contaminated water in the past 25+ years of CAGW hysteria.

Intelligent use of these scarce global resources could have easily saved as many people as were killed in the atrocities of Hitler, Stalin, or Mao.

Is this too radical a proposal? Well, NO it is not: In addition to what the radical enviros DO, let’s EXAMINE what they SAY (h/t to Wayne):

Google is already evil, in ways most people have no way of understanding. Google already have way, way too much power and are already leveraging that power to force the progressive narrative by deplatforming those with alternative views and promoting “acceptable” positions. Things will only get worse and it is unlikely to ever get better. There is a revolving door that connects Google and the US Government and it is unlikely to get closed any time soon – Google is just too rich!

This sort of push from legislators is the direct result of DC being piled high with Google alumni bending the ears and lining the pockets of DC lawmakers.

If you’re at all observant, you’ll come away from it with a greater understanding of the Democrats in particular and many other powerful political movements in the western world. Everything points inevitably to 30 years of this propaganda approaching its climax: it’s never been about science or the planet, but complete one-party control. Trump painted a target on his back the moment the words “drain the swamp” left his mouth. When Democrats herald censorship then WE must censor them, only in that way will the whole censorship issue collapse in on itself, when all see it for what it is. As I understand it, if you post a video, you can ask for a range of advertising options (how many, how frequently they appear, can they be skipped in part or totally, etc.).

They have other options like making videos harder to find, not being recommended when you view similar themes, etc. They can also cancel your channel (but I have to confess I have no understanding of what a youtube channel actually is)

Their lust for absolute one-party control is all that matters. There’s no longer any question that the Democrats have based their entire platform and agenda on Marxism-Leninism, and treating them the old, honourable Marquess of Queensberry way is only going to result in failure.

As an FYI to those not familiar with Congressional procedures, which ever party holds the majority in the House gets to appoint committee chairs. That same party holds the majority on those committees.
So it is not surprising that the Democrat controlled committee would vote to put out this kind of letter.
The current crop of Democrats in Washington are of like mind in that they require everyone to see things their way because the rest of us are all too stupid to know better. They will use whatever means to get what they want.

So far they’re not doing anything beyond “urging”. The First Amendment says “Congress shall make no law… abridging the freedom of speech.” “Urging” is not “making law,” so obviously they’re hoping that Google and YouTube will “cooperate.”

It’ll be tricky, though: Google and YouTube, being private entities, can ban or block or demonetize anything they want, for any reason. (I have a hard time believe that anyone is monetizing climate science videos, but maybe they are.) However, as soon at it appears that Congress is considering making law to tall G and YT what to publish, then anyone has standing to file a lawsuit on First Amendment grounds.

Using a position of power to subvert science should be considered a treasonous abuse of power given the unnecessary economic harm to America that green virtue signaling causes, especially to the extent that it’s the primary reason driving incredibly unsound policy. The fact that Castor wants to suppress the truth in favor of her green fantasy supporting these policies shows consciousness of guilt that her facts are wrong. Perhaps a team of skeptic climate scientists (Judith Curry and friends?) could write a responding letter to them , copied to our esteemed committee, demanding that if such censorship is implemented, they also demonetize and demote the other kind of climate disinformation. The alarmist kind. Isn’t that equally as damaging? Doesn’t that also stifle climate action?
It would be easy to make a list of such information, starting with Ms Thunberg’s statements, and quotes from the Guardian, LA Times, WaPo, NYT, that make alarmist statements that clearly are not supported by the science. References to IPCC literature as proof would make it clear that such information is false.
How could they demand the promotion of alarmist falsehood over factual information that is supported by science?

I guess this puts Anthony and Co (and all of us) in the top ten list of bad guys by these delusion ridden arsonists shouting fire in a crowded theatre. Hopefully mankind learns something from this, since history should never be kind to liars, thieves or people who advocate the word(s) that put us on moderation here.

I would rather be labeled a denier and be on the side of factual truth when reviewed historically about the concept that CO2 is pollution and responsible for global roasting. Except I don’t want my house burnt down by these arsonists, so I think in the end there is going to have to be some type of civil war over these matters of misusing science to achieve some sick political goal of converting the Western powers into a some type of the Venezuelan nightmare version of socialism based upon some vague notion of catastrophic climate change. We are already in a civil war of sorts, (verbal) but no shots have been fired yet.

Now is the time for the serious scientists, academics, politicians and senior media personalities that to date have remained silent to come forward and remind everybody that science is never settled, and that there is no ‘climate emergency’ and that we need to adapt to weather, which has always had anomalous extremes and always will. Blaming some imaginary cause for weather extremes such as what has been done with CO2 is not much different than the pagan rituals of human sacrifice to appease the gods for the failure of the harvest.

THE REAL CLIMATE CRISIS IS NOT GLOBAL WARMING, IT IS COOLING, AND IT MAY HAVE ALREADY STARTED

It is notable that crop planting has occurred one month later-than-usual in the North-central growing areas of North America in both 2018 and 2019. While warm summer weather saved the 2018 crop, in 2019 the Northern corn and soybean harvests were devastated by a cold summer and early cold weather. In 2019, there were many more record U.S. all-time daily low temperatures than record highs. These events may just be weather, not climate, or they could be the early indicators of global cooling.

I note that the link to real climate has a scare report from 4 years ago about sending people by boat to the north pole as it was largely ice free to the 86th degree north.

I wrote this article a scary 10 years ago showing that in 1817 it was completely ice free to the 84 th degree and it was only logistics and supplies that stopped the British whalers and expedition from exploring any further north and reaching the pole

Contemporary reports from the time include the following 1817 book;

http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=EpwSAAAAYAAJ&dq=illustrations+of+greenland+1817&printsec=frontcover&source=bl&ots=3cjiizphFa&sig=nFNcBtJE-Bv3DDAf9U4lK2Y-JYg&hl=en&ei=1eEySpGRB4iZjAeItuyBCg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1

“We learn that a vessel is to be fitted out by Government for the purpose of attempting again the north-west passage, the season being considered as peculiarly favourable to such an expedition. Our readers need not be informed that larger masses of ice than ever were before known have this year been seen floating in the Atlantic, and that from their magnitude and solidity, they reached even the fortieth latitude before they were melted into a fluid state. From an examination of the Greenland captains, it has been found that owing to some convulsions of nature , the sea was more open and more free from compact ice than in any former voyage they ever made: that several ships actually reached the eighty-fourth degree of latitude, in which no ice whatever was found; that for the first time for 400 years, vessels penetrated to the west coast of Greenland, and that they apprehended no obstacle to their even reaching the pole, if it had consisted with their duty to their employers to make the attempt. This curious and important information has, we learn, induced the Royal Society to apply to ministers to renew the attempt of exploring a north-west passage as well as to give encouragement to fishing vessels to try how far northward they can reach , by dividing the bounty to be given, on the actual discovery, into portions, as a reward for every degree beyond eighty-four that they shall penetrate For the same reason we think it would be advisable for the merchants engaged in the Greenland whale fishery not to postpone the sailing of their ships to the usual season but expedite them at once so as to take advantage”

The captain of the resultant royal society sponsored expedition lived in my home town. His name was scoresby and there is a plaque to him as the first arctic scientist on the wall of the local church. Poignantly it is next to a plaque of someone lost with the titanic when the ice melted once again, creating the icebergs that sunk that ship in an arctic melt episode that lasted from 1908 to around 1940

Makes you think doesn’t it?

Google is obviously already politicized. Type in “Greta Thunberg doesn’t know what she’s talking about,” which is a simple enough concept, and you get a lot of searches deploring the phenomenon that elderly white males are pathetic and powerless in the face of Greta’s clarity and passion. Type in “how tall is Greta Thunberg?” and Google gives you an automatic answer: five foot four. Which, if she is, then Barack Obama is six foot seven.

If the Democrats/CAGW promoters had a good argument, they wouldn’t need to censor others. The truth of the argument would silence most skeptics and turn them into believers.

But they don’t have a good argument so they want to shut the other side up when it is pointed out.

The possible Saving Grace seems to be that this tactic is backfiring on the Democrats. They have shown their true ugly, selfish, power-hungry face to the world, and are alienating people as a result.

Every cult, every sect, every totalitarian regime, and enlightened grouping first reduces access to information for their members. That’s as true for Soviet Communists, Chinese corporatists, and the Nazis as it is to religious cults and extremist sects. People who have access to all information will read, think and make decisions and some of that won’t be fooled by the carefully crafted messages that we are all supposed to absorb without question. A healthy society thrives on a diversity of opinions. When opinions get filtered, societies become brittle and start to fail.

It is probably (literally) the oldest story in the book, starting with the great Flood that ‘wiped’ out humanity (the 400+ foot increase in sea level over 7000 years at the end of the ice age that flooded a lot of habitat and ancestral homelands to a multitude of tribes which then became oral myth). And then the mythical Garden of Eden idea when things were warmer in the Holocene Optimum, and agriculture was invented, hence the idea of the Garden. I know the two are mixed up in chronological order in the good Book, but then so are a few other small items. But there is certainly some truth to these old myths that have worked their way into myth and religions.

Anyways, every good Brit loves to talk about the weather and the climate, as does most everyone else. I think a lot of this is wrapped up in our genetic collective memory, as well as historical circumstances when some major externality let loose (think Santorini and the collapse of the bronze age) and climate changed either by direct short term external forcing enough to collapse a civilization, or by other more long term natural variation. Which is also probably subject to Murphy’s Law, in that these natural disasters probably happen at an extremely vulnerable time in their civilization timeline, otherwise they probably would not have collapsed.

The only thing we know for absolute 100% certainty is that the climate has always been changing, and always will be changing in the future. We either adapt, or we get out of the way. IMHO, for the foreseeable future, humans won’t be able to affect the global climate by much, except for things like local UHI and land use change. Which is also probably just what we have been measuring for the small amount of beneficial warming that is still less than 1 degree C in 150 years since the end of the Little Ice Age. We should be very thankful and grateful for this warming, since it is our only insurance policy on a sudden cooling event, for whatever reason.

AI,
Precisely my thought when I read this. Google and Wikipedia among others already have a stranglehold on what citizens read as sources of information.
WUWT would be a prime target of the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis.
In this week’s “Climate Notes” in Spectator Australia, John Ruddick has a fascinating column on ‘The Great Global Warming Symposium’.
It should be pursued by WUWT.
He reminds us that the last time the Western world was so divided over science was in the mid 19th century when Darwin published ‘The Origin of the Species’.
The public uproar was enormous.
Seven months after publication in 1859 a historic debate was held at Oxford University. More than1000 packed the Hall with hundreds turned away.
It is remembered as the 1860 Oxford Evolution debate or the ‘Huxley Wilberforce debate.’
Thomas Huxley,32, was a confidante of Darwin who was ill and was self educated with little formal education and a poor public speaker.
Samuel Wilberforce,55, was the third son of the revered liberator and a polished debater and orator.
The Chair was anti-Darwin and not impartial.
Wilberforce’s principal argument was appeal to authority.Huxley spoke plainly and appealed to the curiosity of the audience.
He won.
2020 is the 160th Anniversary of that great debate which shifted scientific and public opinion.
The columnist argues for a similar historic debate on the most contentious scientific question of today – Climate Change.
A ten day event on five broad topics- temperature, CO2, the Sun, geological record, extreme weather events etc. A dozen or so of the world’s leading scientists (half orthodox, half sceptic).
The Chair : an Oxford Graduate, Boris Johnson!
An idea whose time has come.

Just what the F is “climate denial”?

Is her thimble brain thinking of:
Climate Change denial – natural causes?
Climate Change – anthropogenic causes?
That “climate changes”?

Furthermore, they keeping on yapping like little poodles about a “climate crisis”.
Just where is the climate crisis in the world today? Please anyone?
Is it a crisis in historically average rainfalls? Decreasing length of heatwaves? Historically average floods? Decreasing world-wide death tolls since the 19th Century from floods and storms? Is it the average amount of sea ice in the Arctic this year?
How about continuing bountiful grains and vegetables and increasing crop yields around the world leading to depressed agricultural products prices? Is that a crisis?

The Australian bushfires are not unprecedented going back over 100+ years. They are indeed severe and devastating for modern times (last 40 years) yes, but not in the entirety of the historical record, so is that “climate change?” One year of severe drought in Australia, which is now likely to be followed by several years on above average rainfall?
What has changed is the human development encroachment into fire prone areas both in Australia and California, along with modern fire suppression leading to fuels build-up.

Congresswoman Castor is not just any moron. She went Full Moron.

Being a corporate entity, YT has to consider how much revenue it will lose, if it knuckles under to this demand. The bottom line is always the cash in the cash drawer, you know, so before you all go howling “1984”!!!! and “book burnings!’, remember that a huge number of people don’t buy paper print books these days and revenue lost to a specious demand can’t be recouped.

I list 350+ skeptical videos at http://ccdedu.blogspot.com, including a Lindzen collection at
http://ccdedu.blogspot.com/2019/05/videos-by-richard-lindzen.html
Sorted by length.

Their recommendation percentages sound like YouTube is discriminating against skeptics already. There are well over 1000 skeptical videos on global warming and climate change. I doubt there are that many more by alarmists.

Avaaz.org is funded 100% by globalist George Soros.
Soros failed to stop Brexit. He is terrified his globalist vision is being destroyed. The global warming fraud has nothing to do with the climate. It is globalism and world government writ large. Soros is panicking because his great ruse to use Thunberg to bounce the world’s leaders into his globalist vision has failed and this is an act of desperation – to gag the growing number of people that can see through his machinations. This effort will have no effect. Google already censors, demonetizes and memory holes thousands of websites and YouTube channels and millions of comments and contributions of content makers who speak the truth about the climate.

My defence diary quote for today comes from the late, great Martin Luther King: “Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity”. Seems to be particularly appropriate for the entire climate change alarmist industry.

Control the thought process and you control the people…

They have a huge start already through the propaganda and intolerance for independent thought at schools. The problem is some people are just too smart and “discover” reasons to begin doubting the liberal story line. So you need to attack the distribution channels of information so that also is controlled – hence shut down the Internet as a vehicle to learn for one’s self and use it instead to reinforce the liberal agenda. What better way to start then to control information distribution centers like Google.

China is already further along this path. These are Socialist ideals/ The government needs control over its governed.

I keep thinking the liberals only have 10 more years and Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) falls apart, but I keep underestimating how easy it is to deceive most people. I though by 2010 people would figure it out, and then by 2020. Nope, most people seem to still believe the story line despite the repeated failures to get any predictions correct. (Well, except for “it will be warmer in some places, and colder in others; wetter some places and dryer in others” which is about the quality of prediction you get from a fortune cookie)

The story line that CO2 controls climate is DEAD. People are just too lazy to figure it out on their own.

Um what climate crisis? I have been an operational meteorologist for going on 35yrs. This sick sick politically driven idiocy has ZERO basis in science. Is the climate fluxing a bit here and there over the past 30yrs? Sure, but it’s pretty difficult to notice and well within any flux that has occurred before. Some warming. CO2 is rising to ideal levels? Big deal! Climate never has and never will be static. Ugh…I am just so frustrated with this sickness I’m ready to tune out and go live at my lake cabin until the day I die. Leftist-marxist pigs are driving this whole charade. Eff em!!

There has been hundreds of reports of scaremongering by the MSM,false predictions, climate models wrong ect ect, the article I reproduce acknowledges this ,particularly at the high end of global warming temperatures ,although it’s still our fault, I’ve no doubt the climate lobby have been backed into a corner with there scaremongering ,now doing there damage limitation exercise.

For those who are keeping track, the on-point phrase has evolved in a very telling way:

1. Global Warming -> 2. Climate Change -> 3. Climate Crisis

Over a few years, all of the above have been used to describe the same weather events and transform them into some kind of cringe worthy information. Most people could care less, but daily bombardment of this climate propaganda has had an effect on the young and under educated through there equally under educated teachers.

As the the debate devolves into ideology the basic appeal for true scientific integrity is slowly slipping away.
The elected see new revenue sources and eagerly support idiotic policies such as the carbon tax.

We are rapidly approaching a new Dark Age, where critical thinking is suppressed and use of the scientific method censored.

This will become a very painful time. The Fourth Turning has been very prescient.

Some extreme left in Australia have been admiring the Chinese social credit system, if a citizen strays from the official line they are ostracised have no social credits and effectively become non persons, with no rights and no permission to leave the country. I guess this is what your US politician wants, to take away hard won rights and remove these troublesome people from any contact with each other to achieve the “Greater Good”.

They really need to think about what they are asking as at some time as one day the same totalitarian Social Credit – non person thing will be applied against them. History study tends to confirm such awful things do happen when the pendulum of power swings.

It sometimes takes a while for a post to appear. Some claim the website only updates at the top of the hour, but I have seen some exceptions to that, so I can’t say exactly what is happening, but delays in the appearance of a comment are common.

I attribute the deafening level of climate change hysteria to one of two things: The alarmists either are so desperate to effect dramatic societal change at any cost, or they are so arrogant in their successes that they have decided to push forward.

The “perfection” of a materialist future made in the image of the hard American Left is clearly in action here. Others have pointed out that this is largely centered on recreating the economy and decimating population to the “correct number.” This mindset truly does view humanity as a disease.

I am most confident that a combination of colder than average temperatures in North America and Europe over the next several years and naked actions to deny people gas stoves, meat burgers, and nice cars will dampen “climate action”. I finally personally experienced climate insanity when a Starbucks barista told me that French Roast coffee was no longer available due to “climate change”.

Did you know that “An inconventient Truth” contains several lies?
https://www.friendsofscience.org/assets/documents/FOS%20Essay/British_High_Court_Ruling_on_An_Inconvenient_Truth.html

Just yesterday, I have listened to a translated Russian news report about Davos and the Russian media openly stated that the IPCC has lied to us with the fake hockey stick diagram which somehow forgot the Medieval warming period and the ice age after 1600. The science is not settled. Russians agree that the climate changes (nearly everyone does), but they don’t believe in this CO2 hoax. Pragmatic people!

Moreover, biology teacher Markus Fiedler has had a closer look at the infamous Cook study and found out that only 0,54% of the scientists think that the global warming is manmade. The abstract claiming 97% support manmade global warming theory lies openly!

Ask yourself this question.

Why is the a committee on “The Climate Crisis”.

The name is a presumption that a crisis exists, so it is unlikely that they are interested in anything like a balanced view. Rather like the IPCC which is a wholly lopsided organ purely dedicated to prove the necessity of its own existence.

There is a pattern and the solution is not in the science, though some sort of smoking gun like an ice-age might have an effect. The problem is political and the ctrl-left have taken over education, media, academia and policy.

I am not seeing any effective way to fight the anti-enlightened views of the ctrl-left and their cohort. This is a truly depressing state of affairs.

Why is the a committee on “The Climate Crisis”? Because Democrats had control of House and created it. If Republicans had any spine when they take control of House they will eliminate it, and a whole lot of other useless, make work stupidity in Congress. Shear it back down to what it was meant to be.

This is only going to get worse. The government doesn’t have to remove the First Amendment when they can do it by proxy, as in private companies like Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, etc. Doing it by proxy gives them plausible deniability, as in, look, they are private companies and can allow what they want on platforms. Somewhere along the way, the Democrat party took a hard left turn toward authoritarianism. It’s frightening. What’s just as frightening is that the mainstream news media is in lockstep with these leftists. It starts like this and before you know it, there will be rewards for turning in family, friends, or coworkers, to be taken away for re-education. Every American needs to read The Gulag Archipelago. If they don’t think these things can happen here, reading this book might open their eyes. I’m sure I come across as a whacked out conspiracy nut, but I don’t care at this point. We used to grumble when they called us science deniers and we would complain about our voices not being heard regarding the science because they were shutting us down, refusing to debate, and a host of other things. That was the tip of the spear. When someone like Warren can stand and brazenly lie and then say she has a plan to combat disinformation, and the media doesn’t call her on her own plethora of past lies, there’s a real problem. We’ve been comfortably numb for a long time and it’s time for us to wake up. Geeze, I can’t believe I sound like THAT guy. The wacko. Strange times!

The Marxist, violence-endorsing Bernie Sanders campaign workers being exposed by Project Veritas have this ecological crisis as a burning reason why they are advocating for such radical change. They think humanity will be killed off by environmental catastrophe in the next ten years. These young adults have totally bought the story and believe they are going to save the world.

I can only assume that the Democrats are against free speech, science, and reality Instead of the usual global warming propaganda, what they need to know is the following:

The reality is that, based on the paleoclimate record and the work done with models, the climate change we are experiencing today is caused by the sun and the oceans over which mankind has no control. Despite the hype, there is no real evidence that CO2 has any effect on climate and there is plenty of scientific rationale to support the conclusion that the climate sensitivity of CO2 is zero. It is all a matter of science. The AGW conjecture sounds plausible at first but a more in depth analysis reveals that the AGW conjecture is based on only partial science and is full of holes. For example, the AGW conjecture depends upon the existence of a radiant greenhouse effect caused by trace gases in the Earth’s atmosphere with LWIR absorption bands. Such a radiant greenhouse effect has not been observed in a real greenhouse, in the Earth’s atmosphere, or any where else in the solar system. The radiant greenhouse effect is science fiction so hence the AGW conjecture is nothing but science fiction as well. This is all a matter of science. So trashing the economy in the name of climate change is not going to stop the Earth’s climate from changing but even if we could somehow stop the Earth;s climate from changing, extreme weather events and sea level rise would continue because they are part of the current climate. The optimum global climate has not even been defined and even it were defined we do not know how to achieve it.
