COP29 Host Nation President: “Having oil and gas … It’s a gift from God.”

COP29 Host Azerbaijan Says Its Fossil Fuel Is ‘Gift From God’

  • President Aliyev commits to boosting investments in gas
  • Country also touts its rollout of green energies this decade

Azerbaijan, host of this year’s COP29 climate summit, will continue to invest in increasing gas production in order to feed demand from Europe as its president said that its abundant fossil fuels were a “gift from God.”

President Ilham Aliyev said at the Petersberg Climate Dialogue in Berlin that oil and gas would be needed for “many more years” as the country prepares to host the 29th United Nations’ Conference of the Parties, or COP29, in Baku later this year. He highlighted an agreement reached with the European Union to scale up supplies of natural gas to help make up for Russian shortfalls after its invasion of Ukraine.

Are COP hosts chosen on the basis of how much the choice will upset greens?

Can you imagine what it must be like to be a green climate true believer? To believe that concerted global action is the only hope to save the world, to build up hope every year, only to see those hopes dashed, as each COP conference attempts to outdo the last in farcical mockery of climate tropes?

How can COP30 possibly top this comedy moment? Ask General Aladeen of Wadiya to host a COP conference? Obviously there is a minor problem that General Aladeen is a fictional character, but what better person to host a fictional climate conference?

We simply need to convince the greens to take The Great Climate Leap Forward on their own, to set the pace, lead the way, show us how! Give up FF and all that goes with it! BWAH-ha-ha-ha!!

Maybe we can convince them all to move to an Island nation (that is sinking, if there is really one) so that they can show the world how it is done. No oil or gas derived products. Only unreliables. And since they do not make any false claims, only projects that are financially sound. 5 years of FF power and then shut down all FF power!

Well, El Hiero in the Spanish Canaries made an attempt at relying on “renewables”. It failed.

Also King Island test bed, between Tasmania & Australian mainland.
Has not been able to run even a week without diesel.
Link to real-time display of electricity source, diesel just now at 24%.

I’ve just been censured by the BBC for suggesting the person who said “There’s too many people, we need to reduce numbers” should lead the way.

The greens are covered in oil. That they need discard clothing to be truly green creates the horrifying prospect of all those thousands in attendance wearing skin only.

It matters not where/who is hosting a COP the results will be the same …. as it ever was. Lots of virtue signaling. Some shaming. Big party.

We have to realize that the Greens really don’t care if everyone abandons fossil fuels because if it did happen, they’d have no way to reach these conferences or have anything to talk about. Not that they accomplish anything anyway, but how else would they get a frequently taxpayer-funded free ride to one exotic place or another without having to show any results for it? At least Pres. Aliyev is up front about his country’s continued commitment to oil and gas, and if it doesn’t make the switch to renewables during the next decade no one will hold it accountable or even notice.

The COPs are under the sponsorship of the UNFCCC. The UNFCCC has been ‘captured’ by all the ‘second world’ countries still hoping to use climate change to wring $100 billion per year in ‘climate reparations’ from ‘carbon polluting’ first world countries—with the convention of small island nations (led by Tuvalu and its underwater cabinet meeting stunt) leading the hopeful way. So the ‘green’ farces of COP27 (Scotland, dependent on North Sea oil and gas), COP28 (Dubai in UAE dependent on Persian Gulf gas), and now COP29 will continue to happen in the future. ’Reparations’ will also continue to not happen.

COP30 will be held in Brazil, whose offshore subsalt discoveries have made it another major global oil and gas producer in the past decade. May the farce be with them.

COP-OUT29.
They all fly there and pontificate about how the masses CO2 emissions need to be controlled and how to do it.
Yet, no one walks to one of the parties.
(BTW What does “COP” stand for anyway? I forget.)

The whole thing, Net Zero, is doomed as soon as the general populace realizes that without FF-based fertilizers, half the people in the world would starve in a year or two. Seems to me that when this becomes widely known, the Greens will just stop.

It’s not just fertilizer. Without fossil fuels there is no agriculture (diesel tractors), forestry (gas chain saws and diesel log haulers), construction (Cat diesel stuff), international trade (diesel ocean shipping and jet fuel air freight)…
But the Greens won’t stop— because these things are obvious, yet the Greens are oblivious.

One of two things will happen. Greens eventually prevail, then won’t end well. Or, Greens don’t prevail because common sense eventually will. My bet is on the latter, and sooner rather than later.

I don’t think the CAGW crowd believes all this nonsense. CAGW is merely a vehicle to gain power and control. As soon as CAGW stops producing they will move on to another vehicle. They don’t give a damn about the climate only power and control.

Think true for the same subset that did COVID19 masks and lockdowns. Think not true for Greens like Mann and AOC. Mann is in it for the money. Bartender AOC is too stupid to be in it for anything other than re-election.

It’s always been that way – religion, war, etc

Next will be AI, water, O2 shortage, hobgoblins

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

Small probem here, Eric.
You have shown this analysis based on relationships and influences that are accepted by the public as “Everyone knows that.”
The problem is that the main players, links, structures, money flows are not the ones the public knows. Most of this climate change economic damage is done by stealth. How many times have you seen an unexpected, ludicrous outcome suddeny appear as a fait accompli with little useful faper trail to follow the money?
Why are greens not screaming about this choice of COP 29 President? Is it because a quiet deal has been done already?

I believe that COP30 will be hosted by the Kingdom of Wakanda.

It is thought that green energy warrior and Australian billionaire, Andrew “Twiggy” Forrest, will be attending (again) to discuss the possible use of a form of Vibranium in establishing a new renewable energy source.

Chris “Blackout” Bowen, Australia’s Energy Poverty Minister, in a recent statement has indicated his government’s support of the research and possible use of the Vibranium isotope in numerous green energy initiatives. With no shortage of taxpayer’s money in more subsidies, grants and discounts to the private sector, the addition of Vibranium to help super turbocharge Australia into a green energy supernova superpower, is an exciting time for the nation, said Mr. Bowen.

COP1 was at Berlin in 1995. The Keeling curve has steepened a bit since about 1950 so that could be human caused. The COVID deindustrialisation showed not a whit. So it’s natural. Anyway 29 COPs have not made the slightest difference to the c. 2ppm year
