Scientists are playing Fortnite to talk to kids about climate change

Stephen StockwellAfter hearing an 11 year-old’s Fortnite video got more views than a climate change lecture, Henri Drake had an idea.
A red haired cowgirl grabs a submachine gun from a building and as she runs away from the oncoming storm, the player in control starts talking about the impact CFC emissions have on global warming.
“We basically have since banned those materials… but we found out last year that the concentration of these gases in the atmosphere is increasing again.”
The cowgirl is Henri Drake, a casual gamer and climate scientist from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and the game is Fortnite, a crazy popular multiplayer shooter game.
It’s a strange mix, but by creating the ClimateFortnite Twitch channel Henri is hoping to use the games popularity to explain global warming and climate policy to a wider audience.
He’s not going it alone, there’s other scientists either playing with him or just hanging around to answer the questions thrown out by viewers. Scientists like Chris, a masters student at Boston University, who is on hand to field a question about the Paris climate agreement thrown out at the start of one game.

Right place, right time.
This climate Q&A stream almost started by accident. A few months ago, when playing Fortnite in his PhD downtime, Henri Drake saw a tweet from climate scientist Katharine Heyhoe about how her son’s gaming vids were getting heaps more views than her lectures.
“I put two and two together and figured I could stream it on twitch,” Herni tells Hack.
Even though ClimateFortnite is still fresh it feels pretty well received.
“Part of the gaming community really likes it,” Henri said.

Fornite is a massive first person shooter multiplayer game, where kids get to create 3D characters and interact with large numbers of other kids online.
What do you guys think? Personally I have a big problem with random adults deliberately seeking unsupervised access to the children of strangers so they can proselytise their climate faith without the permission of parents. I don’t think Henri Drake and his friends are intentionally doing anything wrong, but this violates my sense of boundaries, of appropriate behaviour in a big way.

I have a problem with unsupervised children.
Especially with access to the internet across multiple devices. I have two step-children whom I try to apply sensible parental controls of the access to the internet via WiFi namely apply restrictions during school terms for the 15 year old after 10pm, and 9:30pm for the 11 year old.
This causes issues with their mother as she used listen to the radio when she was their age. Me thinks she doesn’t quite understand the difference between a laptop, a smart phone with internet access and a radio.
I love Carbon Dioxide…..with the coming “Little Ice Age” I wonder what board game they will use when they are ip to their necks in snow weeks on end.
And they can’t afford the electricity to run the computer games even if the lines were undamaged, in the event the Climate Nazis get their way and implement their “green” (read: NO) energy “policies.”
I also wonder how they’ll keep themselves warm, since they won’t be able to afford heat, either.

No matter what you think of this use of the game this quote is, in my opinion, a confession of child abuse being perpetrated widely. These ever present stories of climate doom brought to this fragile earth by the greedy and clueless adults with no care for the children is abuse plain and simple. Unfortunately I have no answer to this other than telling kids the truth about our world and climate as often as I can.

Did the climate bedwetters just admit that they are incredibly desperate and pathetic enough to bother kids playing a game, which features somekind of maybe biological disaster that wipes out most of mankind? Scientists who made-up climate Armageddon with their computers bothering kids playing made-up Armageddon on their computers.
Supposedly an “immense freak storm” that kills off 95% of the population. (One can see why the Greens are attracted to the game, it’s their wet dream come to life.)
Most of the remainder are zombies (or some such), spawned by a disease after the initial disaster.
Second-hand information, though – I hear about every big MMORPG from the son, and sometimes mix them all up.
There’s worse.
Unwanted “emergency, emergency, save the earth” trolling on the aviation guard distress frequency.
We must keep monitoring it, it’s an emergency (best) practice. However.
Previously we got idiots barking and making noises, mindless kids playing stupid games.
Now, we are insulted as polluters and similar propaganda slogans. We never reply or it gets worse, junk talk ensues, expletives a gogo.
Germany takes the cake, almost daily occurrence in vicinity of big hubs.
Problem, EU authorities seem not concerned. Until despite common sense, all start muting their receivers and someone bingo fuel or other situations gets hurt.

Precisely. Those flying to climate conferences should be aware that, on occasion, crews have to deal with potentially dangerous trolling of the distress guard frequency.
And idiots shouting “emergency, emergency, save the earth” and alike just add to the workload of the drivers.
From what we suppose, those are fanatics/idiots with handheld transceivers and often, strong German accents.
Be careful online kids. There are all sorts of unsavoury people there — paedophiles … climate believers …
A way for grant hungry climate extremists to get paid for playing games.
I wonder what othervnew ways the climate parasites can find to suck money from their hosts.
Climate parasites, like tapeworms, weaken the entire host by siphoning away more and more available nutrition.

A popular kids’ comic in Britain is The Dandy. I grew up with it. I was shocked to see a few years back that the climate propagandists have polluted it.
Black Bob the sheepdog – in his modern incarnation – sniffs out some dodgy-looking characters with five o’clock shadows and runs off with their rolled up documents between his teeth. His master reads them and twigs that these villains are intending to build a – grr! – power station in the Pristine Green Valley. In the final picture, long after the power station plot has been kiboshed, we see the Lovely Green Valley at a later time: it is now dressed with gorgeous white wind turbines, peacefully making clean energy.
These bastards are poisoning the minds of our children.
Pity Black Bob couldn’t sniff out the dodgy characters that despoiled the Lovely Green Valley with all those bird choppers!

*There* is the fail that’s ongoing, she has dumped her own child(ren) to the care of a computer. It is there that they learn how to obtain fake Dopamine, from the computer but especially also fake Dopamine from myriad sources, refined sugar, cooked starch, and then fermented barley, cannabis etc etc
All= Fake. All= things that make you feel good (that’s intrinsically fine & OK) BUT they all come with horrible side effects. Typically a long-term depression & slowing of thought processes and physical ability.

Meanwhile, she gets her Dopamine from her career =’being successful’, from making money, from the ‘power buzz’ you get from telling everyone else how to live their lives, what tax to pay, what energy to use, what house to live in and most galling of all, how many kids to have.

But look what’s happened.
A generation of kids who are addicted to depressant chemicals and hence =slow learners, low intelligence, occasionally hyper-active and, worst of all because of that, quite devoid of self-confidence.

Totally describes a dysfunctional family situation.
Why?
Because girls have intuition – a genetically inbuilt social skill.
But for it to work properly, they need to practise it while growing up and THE best place to practice is on their own father. Typically they won’t even be allowed to practice on other boys at that age anyway.
As far as fathers are concerned and by the time a daughter gets to age 16+, her father should be as transparent as glass. She should know *everything* about how he thinks, what he thinks and why he does what he does.
She should ‘know’ his stance on Global Anything and NOT even need to ask a patently insulting and dumb-ass question like, Dad, why are you a……?
So, what was The Father doing while she was growing up – at the office in front of a computer, making things ‘better than they have ever been’ by any chance?

Hence we see the Censorious Society described by (The Rational Optimist) Matt Ridley = a generation of kids who are scared of Almost Everything. Because they haven’t been taught about the Real World and their parents haven’t been there to guide them and help them explore
The very worst thing though is what Ridley describes, everybody is frightened of everybody else. Everybody is concerned that everybody else is out to pollute them, to terrorize them, to murder them in their beds, to mug & rape them.
Proof = the burgeoning number of lawyers
Soooo beautifully exemplified by Tony & Cheri Blair here in the UK while he was Prime Minister.
Over the course of 10 years he tripled the size of the UK Statute Book (the number & sorts of crimes you could commit and started from the Doomsday Book of 1215)
Meanwhile his butt-ugly wife wrote articles and gave lectures aimed at young women telling them how lovely it was to be soooooo sucessful & happy as she was (a top flight lawyer) and *every* girl could and should aspire to be like her.

Have never considered that Masters or PhD students as experts – just academics who have specialised but have yet to test their knowledge in the real World. (Mature age PhDs may be something different)
These efforts to brainwash young kids while they’re playing e-games is nothing more than the same brainwashing or agitprop that is now rampant in our education systems – from pre-school to university.
Watch the “Educational” children’s shows on any channel, PBS, NICK, etc. they all contain a recurring theme on Global Sustainability, recycling, etc. Even for those shows aimed it children still wearing disposable diapers. Disposable diapers – has to be one of the greatest impacts on waste disposal.

In 1992 the “science was settled” on the influence of media violence on real violence by the APA , exactly like the IPCC science is settled baloney. The APA (Am. Psych. Assoc) baloney will be used against anyone who rightly sees the danger of such “games”.
Left wing ideas are and have been being introduced to children for years. As a substitute teacher I have seen and complained about it to school authorities. Guns, homosexuality, abortion, climate change and others are all part of the attack. They have just found a new venue is all.
Most likely, these “scientists” get sniffed out as frauds rather quickly. This little passtime of theirs will die pretty quickly, IMO.
Gamers aren’t interested in much outside the game they’re playing.
I wonder if the kids can respond back to what the ‘scientists’ have told them. If so, might be fun for skeptics to play this game and lay some skeptic-education back at them.
In the UK we call this Grooming children. I would be passing this information on to the police if it were happening here.

Here in the United States:
My Opinion: Man Made Climate Change hysteria is an idea only and was created so that global humanity all had a Common Enemy to fight. Like, Acid Rain, Y2K, Over Population, Global Cooling and The COLD War…..all myths and all created to create a Common Threat than mankind can fight. Mean while….
I believe the concept of Man Made Climate Change is a lot more than about climate……as a matter of fact it may be nothing about climate other than using climate as an vehicle to transform how children learn. It is a systematic method of instilling and indoctrination of children to be “Like Minded” in all areas of life….political, sexual behavior, careers, gender beliefs, etc.
Pearson is an international educationa book publishing company HOME Based in England — operates there, The United States and Canada who control Common Core State Standards in the United States Public School Systems nationwide. They make billions of dollars in the US with Common Core. Pearson also created National Board Certification in the United States and run it in the United States. Both programs are massive and both are devoted to A COMMON CORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For example, man made climate change, social justice, gender issues, etc creep into our pre-K to 12 grades through Common Core…..Our Children get brainwashed through Common Core — LIKE MINDED…..COMMON CORE….COMMON BELIEFS, LIBERAL MINDED, PROGRESSIVES, GLOBAL COMMUNITY, SOCIAL JUSTICE……
I think there is an army of like minded people in the United States who are organized and dedicated to a gigantic propaganda machine.effort to “mentally vaccinate” every child and human in our country who does not already agree with them and what they are doing on all age levels. It is the most sinister organizational belief system ever to attack the country….these people have PhD degrees in Psychology and complete their doctoral research focused on negative influences and misinformation and how to neutralize those influences. Propaganda Machines in action, on all levels…including Internet Children’s Games and more; much much more.
I am not able to prove the last paragraph…..but I firmly believe it 100%…our children are trapped in education and have no means to change that! Parents are helpless and mostly unknowing.
Think about this…..why is the United States ranked 28th in Western Counties in Education? Do you really believe we as a nation do not have the capacity to be # 1 if we really wanted to? OR is our Educational System in this country simply a propaganda machine? Our Universities are just that!
