From the “that ain’t gonna fly” department:
by Fred Palmer – Washington Examiner
Al Gore wants to reverse modernity and save the world from itself through an elimination of its fossil-fuel-based energy system. During the final week of April, his newly created Energy Transitions Commission released a document setting forth a fool’s-errand pathway to “decarbonize” the world’s energy system.
If this sounds familiar, it is. Gore’s plan features a new, sophisticated, and expensive public-relations campaign, but it’s all based on his views on carbon dioxide first broached in his 1992 book Earth in the Balance, which he reissued in 2000 for his failed presidential campaign. The subsequent efforts made by Gore during the past 25 years have transformed little from their genesis, and he remains as tragically wrong today as he was when he first surfaced as an opponent of everything linked to carbon-dioxide.
If you scroll through the verbiage surrounding the document, you will find the core policy recommendation is a massive, punishing carbon tax. Gore would start the tax at $50 per ton, which would increase to $100 per ton over time, essentially destroying the market for continued robust development of the world’s fossil-fuel base. Our economic growth and personal well-being depends on robust fossil-fuel use, so Gore’s plan would destroy these as well.
But, don’t worry! The all-in estimated cost to re-engineer humanity is only a mere $15 trillion—enough money to give every man, woman, and child in the United States more than $46,000.
Al Gore has been demonizing fossil fuels and attempting to marginalize all those involved in the traditional energy sector since 1988, the year the climate-change movement was rolled out in Washington, D.C., which happened to correspond with a nationwide heatwave and with Yellowstone in flames. Ever since, Gore’s pathway to political power and personal riches has been a successful one, to be sure, but his multi-trillion-dollar effort today is his most sophisticated effort to date. Unfortunately for him, it will also fail, because what he’s selling in his “new” proposal is bad for the people being asked to embrace it.

You mean Al Gore’s US$14.5 trillion carbon tax – the other half trillion will go towards “administrative” expences.

How does NASA get away with putting this kind of garbage on their webpages?
“Global sea level rose about 8 inches in the last century. The rate in the last two decades, however, is nearly double that of the last century.4”
https://climate.nasa.gov/evidence/
Who’s in charge over there of publishing this nonsense and continuing to alarm the uneducated masses?
Can’t something be done?
The Tidal Gauge network shows no such increase and they damn well know it.
Maybe whoever it is can be fired on the spot, like James Comey was just fired – head of the FBI…
From what I’ve read on WUWT and other papers, the sea level rise has been at the rate of 6-7 inches per century, and it hasn’t been accelerating at all. Not 8 inches per year…
One ref:
https://wattsupwiththat.com/2017/01/21/new-website-gives-you-the-real-deal-on-sea-level-rise-and-rates/
“From the slope we can see that over the 110 year history of that tide gauge, sea-level has risen at an average rate of 1.434 ±0.211 mm per year, i.e., 4.8 to 6.5 inches per century. (That’s very typical, by the way.)”
Are they doubling down? I taught upper level university oceanography and had no idea that the precision of measurements have increased that much, among other things.
“Since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, the acidity of surface ocean waters has increased by about 30 percent”
“The oceans have absorbed much of this increased heat, with the top 700 meters (about 2,300 feet) of ocean showing warming of 0.302 degrees Fahrenheit since 1969” Three decimal places???
“Ninety-seven percent of climate scientists agree that climate-warming trends over the past century are very likely due to human activities, and most of the leading scientific organizations worldwide have issued public statements endorsing this position.”
Guess I better go back to school!
97% of climate statistics are made up and reported to two more decimal places than can be justified by the quality of the underlying data.
If all these rich, socialist elite “EcoLoons” donated all the extra billions they have expropriated from the poor of the world, they wouldn’t need to beg for money……Hypocrisy at it’s worst !
Interested sceening reminds me of Berkeley .
Gore has a lot of big ideas that always seem to unwind . Chicago Climate
Exchange , ice free Arctic come to mind .
He and the rest of the clan keep getting richer while you’re making fun of them, in the end none of them will be getting held accountable for leeching off all that wealth. Al gore is smarter.
I like how South Park portrays Algore. and he’s so “super serious”
Yea – he had some serious ‘splaining to do to Tipper (who obviously didn’t believe him) about the massage parlor thing(s).
Well, since it wasn’t “peer-reviewed”, let alone “pal-reviewed”, I’d say it is safe (and safer for the rest of the world) to ignore Al’s latest attempt to accumulate more per$onal Green.
PS Great picture of Al.
Did someone just “pull his finger’?
Nah
He is just getting rid of a large amount of excess methane.
Here’s MY future tax solution:
After the falsehood of the human-caused-CO2-climate-change position becomes widely recognized as a rare moment of world stupidity from which humanity successfully recovered, a “sanity recuperation tax” should be levied upon all those who publicly proclaimed climate disaster (as documented by written proof of their proclamations in blogs or newspapers or professional journals). In the USA, for example, the IRS would require “any and all persons who produced publicly displayed writings proclaiming adverse human-caused climate change shall submit a written copy of at least one such writing, along with their W-2s and various tax schedules, in order to be properly and fully assessed for their full tax obligations”. A rate schedule would be applied based on income level and other considerations, and the accumulated fund of extra tax revenue would be used to fund REAL climate research.
My econometric model shows that if we eliminated the use of fossil fuels tomorrow, the world’s population would go from 7+ billion today to 2 billion within 2 years. In other words, the greatest genocide in the history of humanity. With no planes, no ships and trucks to distribute food, the US would have to move from the current 1% of people who are farmers to 80% subsistence farming. The cities would become deserted since the food distribution system would go back to the 1800’s. Not to mention that you could only use elevators when the sun is out or the wind blowing.
My buddies peer reviewed the paper and it got published, but the computer is now kaput. So you will have to take my word for the fact usage of fossil fuels is the control knob for human population.
+10
I guess you have a fondness for baloney. Before you publish that kindof thing, you might do a little historical research. In the 1800s, city populations were increasing. There was plenty of ‘food distribution’, or have you never heard of the Teamsters? Those guys who drove teams of draft horses into cities from outlying areas to bring produce into cities? Never heard of them? Occasionally, you should take into account things like the city of London, which was beginning to pipe gas for lighting into people’s houses by 1815, when the Thames froze over.
Your econometric model is completely incorrect.
Hum, so how many teams of draft horses does it take to replace 100s of thousands of semi trucks delivering in every citi and town?
The current cities were designed with plentiful electricity in mind. In order to return to the cities of the 1800’s, most of the buildings would have to be torn down and rebuilt.
Not to mention the fact that current population densities are unsupportable. The streets aren’t big enough to get enough horse drawn wagons through them to support the current population. Not to mention the problem with all the horse poop.
I think you have overlooked some details in your reply. What was the population of London in 1815 compared to today? How many draft horses are currently available for teamsters to use today, not riding (pet) horses, compared to 1815? What kind of gas was being piped (look up producer gas- remember the subject is eliminating fossil fuel use entirely)? How long would the current estimated reserves of food in Britain last if all imports stopped (cargo ships and aircraft ((not to mention trucks)) run on fossil fuels)? How would we preserve what food would be available without a reliable source of electricity for refrigeration? Ditto Vaccines? The list of activities and support services that civilization depends on goes on and on… I think the estimate of a population of 2 billion may be wildly optimistic.
For further reference you might want to watch the first episode of James Burke’s original “Connections” series, available free on youtube.
Apparently, Sara, you have a fondness for blubber, as you yearn for the revival of the whaling industry.
Sara, I have heard of the teamsters (was one once) and have also driven historic horse and mule teams. Among the largest teams ever used was the famous “20 mule team” of California borax mine fame. They carried about half of a tractor-trailer load (20,000 pounds) at less than 10% of the speed and a had a max range of less than 50 miles. Ask any cowboy how perky his horse is after a 40 mile circle during roundup and ask any modern teamster trucker how long it would take to deliver a load at 5-6mph and 40-50 miles/day. And that was in the warm, dry California high desert. Good luck driving any kind of team in Fargo or Buffalo, NY in winter without a diesel snow plow in the lead. And calculate how many teams it would take to keep NYC fed during an average winter and how much hay & grain would be required. World population in 1815 was barely 1 billion and famines and starvation happened constantly. Leon’s 2 billion is optimistic and your econometric model is based on a romantic notion of a past that never was, not reality.
Frat boy gone wild
Fat boy or Frat boy, or both?
Frat
So, Algore:The Goreacle has $15 trillion to piss away on a fake tax? Cool, brah, break it out and pass it around, ya won’t have so much!
With a face like that… how could he NOT be POTUS?
This buffoon of delusional anti-science self aggrandizing kleptocracy is a misanthropic monster at heart.
Al Gore is awesome you guys. C’mon.
Who else makes it snow wherever they go?
Santa Claus is the closest. That simply makes Al Gore simply awesome. Simple as that.

But, don’t worry! The all-in estimated cost to re-engineer humanity is only a mere $15 trillion—enough money to give every intelligent climate science skeptic 7.5 trillion.
Your alarmist economic concerns about destroying the economy are nothing but a hoax. I see no falsifiable science that proves a carbon tax will cause the disaster you imagine.
We have had taxes in the past and survived..we are as resilient as corals.
Lol, Mosher claims there are only two intelligent climate skeptics… LOL… and then claims we could actuall impose a 15 trillion dollar tax on CO2 and not have immense economic collapse.
Mosher lives in his own reality and believes whatever he is paid to believe.
I’m guessing you believe that you have insulted me?
In other words, you are posting to entertain yourself.
Nothing new there.
I love the way socialists actually believe that high taxes on other people aren’t a problem.
No falsifiable science that AGW even exist !!
A bowler hat and a wee moustache – he could easily pass for Stan Laurel
We appear to be fated to suffer Al Gore and his ilk including those in Europe until he dies and they die as well. It is natural.
And unfortunate.
It’s such a joy watching the slow-motion CAGW train wreck unfold:

Leftists don’t have a clue about the massive blowback they’re facing once taxpayers finally realize the lost money, jobs and living standards they needlessly endured for absolutely no reason whatsoever.
I want to know, what alternative freaking universe do these idiots live in? If you find out, would you enlighten me? I’d hate to have them show up on my doorstep in winter, starving and cold, and expect me to feed, clothe and house them when they contribute nothing but air pollution to the world.
Speaking of such trillions, back when Canada’s population was 20million, an economist friend of mine proposed an idea that I thought had merit. Put Canada up for sale for a million dollars per person and give each person the cash to do with as they pleased. They could live where they wanted, even staying where they were.
Great Thread! Thanks, folks.
And to think, this illiterate politician was within a stones throw of becoming president of the USA .
A few large meteors have whizzed by earth since then also. Life is fragile.
When big Al is involved.
first question is ..
HOW MUCH will he make from this bit of the scam !!!
Could we take down the offensive picture of Gore now? Just clouds would be good.
He looks constipated in that picture.
Blue balls? He can’t seem to pass much these days.

The money keeps rolling in.
Obama will give his speech in Milan at Seeds and Chips, a conference on the impact that technology, innovation and climate change will have on food availability and production worldwide.
http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/802063/Barack-Obama-speech-Global-Food-Innovation-Summit-Milan-private-speech-Wall-Street
After bringing the city to a standstill with a convoy of 14 cars, a helicopter and a 300-strong police escort, President Obama’s entourage reportedly took over two floors of the hotel.
A trillion here, a trillion there, pretty soon you are talking about real money!
