Certified Climate Science Professionals (CCSPs) are qualified to provide authoritative analysis and interpretation of climate information to those seeking climate services and solutions to climate-related problems.
A CCSP can provide specific analysis in several topic areas impacted by climate. They must be prepared to place any climate-related analysis in historical context using reputable data sources and physically based tools. A CCSP must be capable of providing unbiased and authoritative analyses of how the climate is affecting and affected by a range of disciplines.
Certified Climate Science Professionals (CCSPs) are backed by the American Meteorological Society, a trusted voice for weather, water, and climate science and services. Earning the CCSP demonstrates to all that you have met rigorous standards of scientific expertise, professionalism, and personal integrity.
Be competitive in the job market;
Elevate your reputation for knowledge, skill, and credibility within your field;
Affirm to your clients that they are receiving the highest quality service;
Gain a lifelong association with fellow CCSPs and share knowledge;
Volunteer within the CCSP community to help advance climate science, aid society, and shape the future of the CCSP program;
Becoming a CCSP pays off in professional value across your career.
Value and Benefits:
Professional recognition and career advancement
Receiving CCSP accreditation attests to everyone that you have gone through rigorous testing and demonstrates your education, experience, and knowledge of climate science as well as your ability to effectively communicate this knowledge to users who are seeking climate services.
AMS certifications have been nationally recognized as the standard in weather, water, and climate certification since 1957. Earning a CCSP designation provides you a competitive edge with employers, and earns you recognition among your peers as an expert in identifying and providing authoritative data and information to solve climate-related problems and inform decision making.
Quarterly newsletters
All active CCSPs receive a quarterly newsletter that provides information about the ongoing activities of the CCSP program and the field. CCSPs are also encouraged to share information about their work by submitting articles for publication.
Professional Development
A 28 point professional development requirement every 5 years helps keep you abreast of new scientific research and tools. Attending conferences, serving as a lead forecaster on special events, mentoring a high school student, serving as an expert witness, or authoring a peer reviewed paper are just a few of the many ways to stay current in the field.
Networking opportunities
See old friends and meet news ones at the Certification Breakfast held each year at the AMS Annual Meeting–the largest weather-water-climate conference, attended by hundreds of climate science professionals.
Confidence of the general public
In a crowded information environment, CCSP certification helps members of the public, decision-makers, and others know that you speak from a place of scientific understanding and experience.
Social media presence
This mark of distinction, displayed on your social media pages and website, sets you apart as an expert in communicating complex climate information.
I think McGuirck summed it up. Extremely bad timing.
And here is the candidate to which he was referring.
The big problem with DEI is that smart competent members of visible minorities get lumped in. For example, who would voluntarily go to a “First Nations” doctor when it is known they did not need to perform to the same standards as “straight white males”.

A Certified Climate Science Professional CCSP is anyone who openly supports the orthodoxy with the ability to string together $10 words in a coherent manifesto and submit it to acceptable journals so other CCSProfessionals can use it to back their own shoddy work before it gets retracted.
A Certified professional is someone who pays money to a state or organization to get their name on a list. Other than that, it’s worthless (except to the grifters raking in the cash).

You can put lipstick on a pig…
I also like the Spanish saying which is applicable here, “Aunque la mona se vista de seda, mona se queda” – Even if the monkey dresses in silk, it’s still a monkey…
Or, you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear.
