UK Police Arrest 27 Just Stop Oil Activists in Nationwide Sweep

The Stonehenge maneuver probably pissed off authorities enough to put them under surveillance.

Police have carried out a nationwide wave of arrests against Just Stop Oil supporters suspected of plotting to disrupt airports this summer.

The arrests took place in London, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Devon, Essex, Manchester, Surrey, Sussex, Norfolk and West Yorkshire, the Metropolitan said in a statement on Friday.

https://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/just-stop-oil-arrests-airport-disruption-summer-metropolitan-police-b1167458.html

It appears that law enforcement has been doing a bit of surveillance on JSO.

Chief Supt Ian Howells, who led the operation, said: “We know Just Stop Oil are planning to disrupt airports across the country this summer, which is why we have taken swift and robust action now.

“Our stance is very clear that anyone who compromises the safety and security of airports in London can expect a strong response from officers or security staff.

https://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/just-stop-oil-arrests-airport-disruption-summer-metropolitan-police-b1167458.html

JSO posted footage from some of the raids.

It also appears that a Just Stop Oil spokesperson has officially confessed to the conspiracy charges. Not the smartest legal maneuver.

Asked about the justification for planning to target airports during the key summer holiday period, the spokesman said: “In normal times, that kind of disruption would be entirely unacceptable.

But you can’t really disassociate what we’re potentially planning on doing from the reasons why.

He added that disruption is necessary because people are “dropping dead around the world” from extreme heat, and “tipping points” are being passed.

Got to love this comment...replace all that tech equipment made with fossil fuel. You are not going to get 5nm chips in your iPhone manufactured with intermittent wind and solar power.

Modern life needs oil for these nit-wits to survive. You think all those cell phones, laptops, printers are made from wood? No they are plastic and metal smelted and refined with massive amounts of oil and hydrocarbon based energy.

An this makes life for most people on earth better than it would be without fossil fuels.

But they think that their intermittent “carbon free” energy sources can replace today’s 24 hour per day reliable energy sources. It turns out that the only reliable industrial strength sources of no-carbon energy are hydro and … nuclear.

Hey, Just Stop Oil … do the numbers.

It only defies explanation because you’ve taken the trouble to really inform yourself on climate matters. They are disconnected from reality because they believe every piece of climate hype that appears in the mass media and internet – every day on multiple platforms(1).

They are not disconnected from what they perceive to be reality, based on “information” they receive from the climate-media-industrial-government complex.

These tragic figures are among the early victims of a well-orchestrated campaign to dismantle our liberal democracies and replace them with some sort of authoritarian states where the only source of energy will be electricity, which will always be in short supply, and guess who will decide how many kWh you get and when you get them.

Not to forget the second front in this war: the campaign against agriculture. The new utopia will also have permanent food shortages, and I invite you to guess who won’t be among the hungry. It will be North Korea on a global scale, cold, dark, hungry and living in fear.

(1) Here’s one of today’s climate hysteria offerings national-parks-are-getting-too-hot-for-rescue-helicopters. I have no doubt you could fact-check it in a few minutes, but why bother, the damage is already done.

Story tip – Mark Cuban Epitomizes The Hypocrisy Of Liberal Billionaires › American Greatness (amgreatness.com)

Cuban invested heavily in environmental enterprises over the last few years. He’s doled out millions to climate start-ups. These are the types of companies primed to benefit from Democrat-backed green subsidies and government pressure for the corporate world to adopt ESG (environmental, social, and governance) policies. All of this is part of Biden’s agenda—and Cuban stands to benefit. It makes sense why he argues that “woke” is good for business and melts down over conservative resistance towards these endeavors. Getting rid of woke business practices hurts his bottom line.

This week the Shadow Chancellor was approached in public, unplanned this week by an activist who called out, “I’m a Climate Activist”. Rachel Reeves (Shadow Chancellor, coolest title in politics) turned and walked quickly away.
The Guardian thought it wrong that she would not agree to stand and face the Climate goon.
I did not.

My Comment was Deleted:

He said he was a climate activist. What do you expect anyone to do when threatened like that? The best you could hope for was to be covered in orange paint. It could have been worse.

I bet you think it’s Islamophobic to run away from someone shouting “Allahu Akbar” while wearing a padded vest.

It was cited as “needlessly offensive language” in the email reply to my asking why I’m banned from commenting on the Guardian website again.

Of course, we have an election coming up and the temptation to report people who are winning arguments against you must be great. So this is quite the compliment to me.

But I doubt the Guardian would have agreed to take offence at my comparing a Climate Activist to a Muslim in a suicide vest if their research wasn’t showing that the Climate Activists are seen as dangerous.

JSO is a cult. All the radical climate change groups are. It’s simple to see what’s going on from that perspective – cults routinely exploit people’s need to belong and have purpose.

CC cultists are, I believe, more needy and psychologically unbalanced that most, hence their religious-like fervor and willingness to break laws, cause inconvenience/destruction. Specific psychological dimensions of these culties are extreme self-importance, self-involvement, narcissism…I could go on and on but you get the idea.

These are pathological people being exploited by sociopathic, power-hungry overlords who likely don’t give a crap about the actual “mission”….its all about power.

None of them looked like they were short on money. Any confiscated devices were likely replaced in short order. A lot of the JSO crowd are trust fund babies who lack for nothing.

The JSO strategy is getting increasingly destructive, and a lot that is due to little/no punishment for their attacks on priceless works of art.
Until these people are given long jail terms and their assets seized, they will continue escalating their attacks.

Gah!–I should have used the Sarcasm tag.

Yes, you are absolutely right; without adequate punishments, the attacks will escalate. Fines are not a deterrent b/c JSO sponsors pay the fines for the lawbreakers.

The courts are part of the problem here. Judges “could” be pushing jail times with a criminal record but when presented with a kid from the same background as the judge’s own, the judge lightly slaps a wrist rather than punishing harshly. “That could be my kid!” is the thinking. JSO should be charged with domestic terrorism as a criminal offence.

Can’t say I’ve ever visited the hop fields to your south. The Times link seems to be blocked for me, so I don’t know what the story slant may be. The headline suggests it’s about relatively small growers. I was privileged to take pictures of the USHCN station at Northport, Idaho, and the very large adjacent hops farm. (They have their own weather station; I took pictures of that, too, and visited their laborer dormitory.) I think the whole operation belongs to Anheiser-Busch. I doubt there will be any shortage of their product in the near future, though they may have to make some adjustments in their workforce arrangements if the rules for immigrant labor change….
