Berliners Fail to Endorse Climate Neutral by 2030 Ballot

h/t bonbon; The brutal reality of Germany’s green energy failure and unaffordable power bills may have finally generated some reluctance to push forward.

BERLIN’S CLIMATE-NEUTRAL-BY-2030 REFERENDUM FAILS!

UPDATE 21:05 CET: Berlin election office: FINAL RESULT: The Berlin referendum for a climate-neutral city by 2030 HAS FAILED RESOUNDINGLY.

Although there was a narrow majority of votes in favor, the 442,210 of “yes” votes fell far short the 25% quorum  of all eligible voters (607,518 votes) needed to make the referendum valid.

Yes: 442,210
No: 423,418

The result shows that only 18% of Berlins 2,430,000 voters cared enough to go out and vote for a measure against the “climate crisis”.

What can I say? Germans have been very patient, they’ve waited at least two decades for the cheap energy renewables are supposed to deliver – with no delivery date in sight.

That turnout for a supposed existential climate crisis is telling. It shows how the contrivance is a fraud.

According to the above statistics, only 35.6% of Berliners voted either way.

It’s surprising that there were not more No votes, but maybe 60% of the population didn’t know there was a referendum that day. They have other things to do, like work!

Paradoxically, like watching Netflix.
Could it be the Empire’s imposed decadence, flummoxed their very own agenda?
Like the Russian Sanctions boomerang?

A Russian business group is offering a bounty to Russian soldiers of 5 million rubles for each German or US tank destroyed or captured.

https://www.usnews.com/news/world/articles/2023-02-01/kremlin-welcomes-bounty-offer-for-destroying-western-tanks-in-ukraine

There are shows on TV where experts discuss the weaknesses of the the various models shipped to Ukraine (age/tech, weight, maneuverability, armor alloys quality and installation, performance in various conditions of ground and weather).

Hitler and Napleon expected quick victories. It is estimated that of 600,000 soldiers of Napoleon, only 100,000 made it back. Germany lost ~3.6 million plus over 400,000 prisoners taken by the soviets, a large percentage of which died in Siberian camps. I don’t see much appetite for an invasion by NATO.

How much for destroying one of our Challenger 2 museum exhibits or are they so shit they don’t warrant a bounty? I was amused to read to drivelling of some former army bloke in today’s paper saying how the Challenger 2 is more than a match for the Soviet-era tanks of Russia. All well and good but how about their anti-tank weapons? Hmmm…not so good on that score I believe but we shall know soon enough.

The media, the official TV and radiostations of Berlin promoted the referendum 24/7 over days, if not weeks.
The referendum took place on a sunday, and you could vote by letter days in advance.
The 60% didn’t know isn’t an argument.
And every eligible voter was informed by official post.

You could vote by letter days in advance and they did not win ? Next time ask the Biden administration how it should be done.

Referenda need SUPPORT to pass. Not voting means you do not support it (which could mean you don’t care). It is the equivalent of a no vote.

According to google, the adult population of Berlin was 2,136,692 in 2021. (and when is google ever wrong) So the YES vote is less than 25% and if you factor in the votes of rural and eastern Germany, I am sure a TOTAL German vote would be way less than 20% who want to rush headlong into the abyss

March 29, 2023 10:43 am

It’s worriesome that so many would rather do without for themselves and others, especially the poorest of the community that can’t spare the extra costs.

I’ll get in with a nitpick before Nick does –

Berliners didn’t “fail” to endorse the climate neutral ballot.

To “fail” at something, you have to have TRIED to do it.

Clearly, if only 18% of Berliners turned out to vote, and < 25% of them voted in favor of it, they weren’t actually trying to endorse the referendum at all.

So the headline to this post should more accurately have read –

Berliners Antipathetic About Endorsing Climate Neutral by 2030 Ballot

Quorum is key.
The Berlin Senate would have had to install rule by diktat for Euro 113 billion green financing with a budget of 38 billion.
So much US money flowed into the campaign, shows this is not a local ‘thing’ but a single point-of-reference for D.C.s EU.
IMHO, now expect some form of typical de-stabilization.

“”Mr Steinmeier lauded Charles for his long-time commitment to creating a more sustainable world.

“You are, quite literally, the driving forces behind the energy transition,” he said. “You are helping to make the world a better place.””

King Charles is on his way to Paris, for another Entente Cordiale?
Look what happened the last time!
Looks like Berlin voters are simply not interested in Royalty, this time around.
Last time Kanzler Wilhelm was King Edward VII’s cousin as was Russia’s Czar Nicolas.
A family spat caused the Great War.
Have we enough experience as Republics – that is the question, the dilemma!

Meanwhile Dr. Tunberg has been granted a Doctorate in Theology, qualifying for King Charles’ Dad Philip’s Alliance of Religion and Conservation :

Bundespresident Steinmeier is stating fact – King Charles is actually driving the Climate lobby.
Sometimes irony gets lost in the translation, as here :
See the Stern cover from weeks ago, and read their explanation.
A case of a picture worth 1000 words – do I hear muffled chortling over there?
And to claim a Yacht full of nasties called Andromeda pulled off the NordStream sabotage – loud chortling , belly laughs, breaks out in the Palace.

The climate-catastrophist cabal lost their credibility if they ever had any when their narrative baton was handed over to a truant teenager who doesn’t know the difference between climate and Mickey Mouse telling the young ones to not attend school on Fridays and causing them nightmares of a burning planet Earth.

This handover of the climate catastrophe narrative by the cabal to Greta Thunberg was the result of the loss of the scientific community who were refusing to join the catastrophists in the obvious barefaced lie.

Folks are beginning to notice. The climate crazies will therefore try harder, and even more folks will begin to notice. Momentum is swinging because warmunists have been wrong for now 4 decades, and their ‘mitigation’ solutions are disastrous.
To paraphrase Churchill: ‘It is not the beginning of the end, but perhaps it is the end of the beginning.’

Yes. The amusing characteristic of this referendum was the underlying assumption by the climatists that anything Berlin decides to do can have any effect on the climate. Same idiotic approach that Oxford takes. No wonder it arouses so little interest, and so little enthusiasm for doing it. See also Khan’s ULEZ plans for London.

Someone should ask that weather “expert” if the weather was nasty last year, 10 years ago, 50 years ago or even 100 years ago. You’d think a weather “expert” would have all that data ready at hand.

Well, Gary, I’m sure the ruling class took home the message that they will just have to try harder next time to explain to the ignorant population the virtues of taxpayers’ green subsidies and giving up one’s standard of living to fight the existing global warming catastrophe. I’m stumped, however, as to how they will ramp up the existing 24/7/365 shouting. Maybe Leap Year shouting will tip the scales towards the green nirvana revolution.

The only downside I can see is the universal truth that provable lies eventually come around and bite you in the ass. I assume the smart rats are planning on jumping the ship early during the failure process, leaving the slow-witted rats to go down with the good ship Ruinables.
