The US should shoulder its own responsibilities and obligations rather than make excuses for its own mistakes, spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in the UK said in response to US officials’ claims that “the entire world will suffer the consequences” of the halt of climate change cooperation, referring to China’s decision to suspend climate talks with the US due to US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s provocative visit to the island of Taiwan.
The US does not represent the world. China already warned the US in advance that Pelosi’s visit to the island of Taiwan will likely lead to a crisis and cause major disruptions to exchanges and cooperation between China and the US. But the US turned a deaf ear to this warning and went its own way, the embassy spokesperson said.

It is unacceptable to urge respect for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity on the one hand and trample on China’s red line on Taiwan and encroach up China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity on the other. Taiwan is China’s Taiwan. No foreign country is entitled to act as a judge on the Taiwan question, the spokesperson stressed.

John Kerry’s response to Chinese bullying has been so feeble, China now seems to believe they can puppy train the Biden administration to acquiesce to China’s Taiwan policy priorities, with well timed threats to withhold climate cooperation.

The Brandon Administration is just dumb enough to agree to it, too. Our media is dumb enough to think we actually got something.
That’s how you get to the current nuke advantage for Russia and a freeze on American delivery systems if they represent too much advantage at any given time.
If you take into account guidance accuracy and Circular Error Probability, then the Russian advantage becomes far less.
Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan carried no international weight at all other than a Showtime for news cameras. The Chinese Communist Party knows that. All international agreements and treaties are under the purview of the Executive Dept with concurrence of the Senate. Nancy Pelosi is a member of neither.
The fact that the CCP is acting so distraught that it is willing to abandon it’s agreement reached with Barack Obama shows that they were never intent on honoring it anyway. There is no other explanation.
Isn’t this a restatement of what I read earlier here at WUWT, that the position of China is:
“Give up Taiwan or the climate gets it!”
That’s about the long and the short of it, yes.

We know the Chinese don’t care about climate and they can get get concessions from Biden and Kerry at the drop of a hat. We know Biden and Kerry are willing to go to great lengths for climate graft. But giving up Taiwan is too much.
Is this the Chinese giving Biden a chance to stand up to them and look tough in refusing? That way whatever Biden and Kerry have agreed to give them can be spun as a ‘victory’ before the midterms.
Idiot. Just make access to our markets contingent on laws and regulations similar our laws. If we truly believe clean air and water then make sure their products come from similar cleaner manufacturing. Likewise, if we impose climate regulations/taxes they must do the same or face a tariff on their goods.
That would lead to rapidly falling living standards, plus extensive smuggling.

Xi Jinping China has no problems annexing parts of India in the Himalaya. Part of Pakistani held Kashmir was given away by Pakistan to China plus the Middle Kingdom took Aksai Chin without discussion.
Not to mention whole Tibet, which could have been a neutral buffer zone for between the two Asian giants.
I am sure that China understands the AGW is a false hypothesis. They are just playing the game to see what they can get out of it.

Note that the “last pre-COVID decade (2010-2019) trend” line (the “cross / X” symbols) projection to 2030 is above the target ranges (the “diamond” symbols) for all USA options, while for China the trend line projection is below the entire target range.
