Scientists Risk Arrest to Demand Climate Action
A growing international movement called Scientist Rebellion calls on world leaders to end the burning of fossil fuels

Rose Abramoff drove from her home in Knoxville, Tenn., to the nation’s capital last week to chain herself to the White House fence.
The climate scientist was among seven demonstrators arrested on April 6 (and later released). Their motivation: the dire warning that time is swiftly running out to meet the world’s climate goals, as detailed in a major report last week from the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
Two days later, Abramoff was back — this time marching with a group of climate activists down I-395 at rush hour. The group was arrested again, but not before they’d stalled traffic on one of Washington’s busiest highways.
In both cases, their demands were clear: faster, stronger climate action from world governments and an end to the burning of fossil fuels.
“It was my first experience with civil disobedience for any reason,” said Abramoff, a climate scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, who emphasized that her activism is conducted on her own behalf and does not reflect the positions of her institution. Scientist Rebellion estimates that a total of around 1,000 scientists in 25 countries participated in last week’s demonstrations, often wearing lab coats to identify themselves.

An old legal proverb states, “If you have the facts on your side, pound the facts. If you have the law on your side, pound the law. If you have neither on your side, pound the table.”.
Scientists chaining themselves to lamp posts and blocking roads in my opinion is pounding the table.
Good for them. I hope the criminal justice system treats them the same as everyone else for committing the same acts. If not, then what’s the point? If they are going to play some social justice card or the scientist card to get off, then they never risked anything in the first place.
If they’re activists then they’re not scientists regardless of whatever scientific credentials they may otherwise have. Science doesn’t take sides, it requires an open mind willing to see where the data leads without bias. Activism is taking a side, it features a biased mind that leads the data to what the activist wants to see. It’s one or the other, it’s impossible to be both at the same time, as they’re mutually exclusive endeavors

This article blithely envisages “the extinction of the human race” or “bringing down all governments in the world”, etc.
Nonsense. Only (a very few of) us western idiots are falling for it.
They can go pound sand for all that I care for what they have to say.
This is just what we need. Keep these amature scientists busy dressing up and shrieking in the streets. Then anyone who remembers how to do science can get back to work.
1,000 wackos from 25 countries = 40 idiots per country. Although I assume the U.S. is overrepresented.
I presumed it was 1,000 wackos from 25 countries all in US academic institutions; I haven’t heard of this organisation protesting outside the US. So – far, far fewer than 40 per country with the US being hugely over-represented is my guess.
She works at oak ridge and can’t find something offensive to chain herself to closer to home (smaller carbon footprint)?????
It’s time for all of us to stand up, and take risks, and make sacrifices for this beautiful planet that gives us life, that gives us everything

Science Changes When Poll Numbers Do
We’ll know that climate “scientist” Rose Abramoff and her alarmist associates are serious when they take their protests to Beijing, the capital of communist China, and to New Delhi, the capital of India.
Just as well they wore their white coats or they just might have been mistaken for ordinary lunatics.
The put on the wrong white coats, the ones they should be wearing have sleeves that tie in the back.
“Climate scientists” is sorta like “social justice”. Don’t mean a thing, just has sort of a ring to it.
I’m in favor of these folks to show us peons(non-scientists) by example of how to live without anything which is produced using “fossil fuels”.
Government climate “scientists” are little different than the educated clergy of yore, who provided the “science” of the day of the king’s right to rule by divine providence. By giving credence to the ruler’s mandates they get to share in the plunder of the peasants and the rulers avoid the messy use of the sword to deprive them of their property and liberty.

Well, I hope that there is an intelligent criminal element in Knoxville paying attention the next time she takes a protest jaunt, and knows that her home and belongings are untended.
It would be funny to counter protest wearing buttons that said, It’s the sun Stupid!
