President Biden’s deputy John Kerry’s deputy Jonathan Pershing has joined the queue of dignitaries demanding Australia announce a net zero 2050 climate target. But all this pressure may be backfiring.
Top US official calls out Australia over lack of climate ambition
August 19, 2021 — 5.30pm
It would be “helpful” if Australia increased its emission-reduction goals in the lead-up to crucial United Nations climate talks in Glasgow in November, a top United States official says.
Jonathan Pershing, deputy to President Joe Biden’s climate envoy John Kerry, said the Australian target of a 26 to 28 per cent reduction by 2030 had “been overtaken by events” and that it should “step forward with a more ambitious effort”.
…
Conservative UK cabinet minister Alok Sharma, who will serve as president of the COP26 talks, also called for more action, saying the UN climate report showed the world had not done enough to act since the Paris climate talks.
…
On Tuesday at the same online conference, former UN chief Ban Ki-moon said Australia was “out of step” with the rest of the world on climate change due to the federal government’s comparatively low 2030 pledge and its failure to have a firm net zero by 2050 commitment.

I suspect the globalists on this occasion may have overplayed their hand. Our Aussie Prime Minister Scott Morrison normally tries to be flexible and accommodating on the world stage, but being seen as the lapdog of the USA, the UN and Britain all at once would be guaranteed political career suicide.

We Australians had a conservative Prime Minister named Tony Abbott 2013-2015. He made some mild public policy statements about climate change in 2015.
I remember Lord Monckton going to print saying that he would soon be pushed out of office by conspiring internationalists, along with Canadian right wing PM Harper. Here is Lord Monckton speaking about Sir David King, a chemist, chief scientific advisor to the UK government —
““David King was asked whether all the nations of the world were now, in principle, ready to sign their people’s rights away in such a treaty. Yes, but there are two standouts. One is Canada. But don’t worry about Canada. They’ve got an election in the Spring of 2015 and we and the UN will make sure the present government is removed. He was quite blunt about it.
“The other hold out is Australia. And Australia we can’t do anything about it because Tony Abbott is in office until after the December 2015 conference. So that means you all have to guard Tony Abbott’s back. Because the Turnbull faction, in conjunction with the UN, will be doing their absolute level best to remove your elected Prime Minister from office before the end of his term and , in particular, before the end of 2015, so that they can get 100% wall-to-wall Marxist agreement.”

Will history repeat itself before COP26 in Glasgow at the end of 2021? Geoff S
Not widely known, Australia is almost certainly net zero now. The country is huge, and sparsely populated over much of its land mass. There are vast forests, growing, larger than at any time in the last 250 years.
Add in the rapid deindustrialisation as the nation shipped most of its factories to China. Most of what is left of manufacturing is being decimated by high energy costs and high taxes and will close in the next ten years anyway.
It is widely know that Australia is a net “carbon sink, but like our constitution and a complicit media, it’s widely ignored.
“been overtaken by events”
So that is what they are calling Kabul these days?
We have bigger issues here in Sydney, Australia. Wearing of masks indoors and outdoors is now mandatory. Some areas have a curfew imposed from 9pm to 5am. It’s funny, at the peak of the “sc@mdemic”, there were less restricted lockdowns and fewer “cases”. Now we have been under heavy restrictions and lockdowns, cases keep rising. If only those getting “tested” would connect the dots and understand PCR is not a diagnostic tool for disease and infection risk, especially when the Ct value is over 40.
Now, it looks like employers will be making vaccinations mandatory across all industry sectors. Time to look for another job.
When the vaccination rate increases, you’ll be able to open up, just like here in the UK
Vaccinations do not prevent someone from contracting and spreading a virus, the risk is reduced but not eliminated. Even the makers state this, a largely, ignored fact.
The UK is heading in to winter. I wonder how many vaccinated people will die of ‘flu this year?
vaccinations absolutely DO prevent you catching the virus… a large study recently shows 60% plus less chance of catching it.
Well as to flu, there is going to be a flu vaccine campaign even bigger than the enormous one last winter.
Another idiot.
Idiot? I’m very unlikely to die of it… you…?
UK- 1st dose 87.4% of the population, 2nd dose 76%.
People tested positive last 7 days up 9.6%
Deaths last 7 days up 10.4%
Patients admitted to hospital last seven days up 8.1%
Israel, similar situation, population vaccinated to ~70%.
Positive tests, deaths and hospitalisations exploding.
Swedes still stubbornly refusing to die, much to the disgust of the MSM.
The geography/population density of Sweden is quite unlike the UK or most of Europe
Viruses do not care for geography or population. If you are exposed to a respiratory virus it’s generally a good idea not to be confine in small places.
What an uninformed idiot. No they don’t. Speak to someone trained in virology. Vaccines reduce risk of contraction of a virus and reduce risk of developing disease. They do not prevent viral contraction and spread. You really are an idiot!
Riiight. Here in Washington State, we met our vaccination goal of 70%. And now that’s not good enough. They want 100% and are STILL making vaccinated people wear masks that have not been proven effective in any way.
Why should anybody need to declare a “net zero” target by any near date? They’re not going to get there, regardless. It’s all posturing, by people who don’t understand the matter in any way.
Australia and Morrison’s response to the global climate Trojan-horse agenda is absolutely the correct one: Go put your climate agenda somewhere where no solar energy is available.
Maybe a chartered cruise ship full of climate activists to China to lodge a protest?
