I love the civilized discussion between the Brits, and even the earnest expression of concern over fundamentally flawed assumptions and assertions. It sure beats the “debate” in the United States, which has in reality become a Fascist shutdown of any debate. The respectful exchange on both sides between Roger Hallan and Andrew Neil was so refreshing. Neil did a fairly good job, but could have demolished Hallan’s position had he been informed that the goals Hallan espoused would bring about the billions of deaths Hallan (I think genuinely) opposes. If we could hold such genuine debates in the United States, I think things might change for the better. If we can’t, I think it’s a more ominous sign of things to come…
