School Strike 4 Climate: Thousands of young Australians call for urgent action on climate change

Thousands of students and their supporters walked out of classrooms and workplaces to join School Strike 4 Climate events around the country, becoming part of a global youth-led movement pleading for urgent action on climate change.
Key points:
- Thousands of students and supporters turned out to events in Australia’s major cities
- They urged the federal government to do more to ensure a renewable energy future
- Some said because they were too young to vote, it was the only way to make their voices heard
Attendees made their way to large rallies in the CBDs of every Australian capital city on Friday, with events also planned in dozens of rural and regional areas, from Alice Springs to Atherton.
Organisers are demanding the federal government turn its back on emissions-intensive energy sources, including by:
- Resourcing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led solutions that guarantee land rights
- Funding the creation of secure jobs that fast-track solutions to the climate crisis
- Funding projects that transition the economy to 100 per cent renewable energy by 2030
Taking place in the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic, all events were arranged with input from relevant state and territory health authorities, according to organisers.

The Aussie government is being forced to fund a new gas power station using taxpayer’s money, because thanks to their own market distorting rules, and opposition hostility towards fossil fuel, dispatchable power is no longer a safe investment in Australia. Energy companies appear to have abandoned the idea they are in any way responsible for Australia’s grid stability, a rational position given all their dispatchable energy assets are being bled by anyone who can convince a politician to give them a renewable energy construction grant.
As for the kids, imagine if they did something constructive with their time instead of marching and whining, like going on a trip into the desert and participating in a few land restoration projects. But I guess a few hours away from their game consoles is all the poor darlings can take, and digging Australia’s poor quality desert soil and dealing with flies, snakes and other pests is awfully unpleasant work.
The World Economic Forum published their book COVID-19: The Great Reset in June 2020, just 3 months after SARS2 was declared a pandemic. It contains lots of Orwellian ideas such as how marvellous world government and global surveillance will be.

Especially a chronic shortage of ‘available’ Iron in her mother’s diet (no, red rust Iron won’t do), exacerbated by a shortage of Copper in her diet and made even worse by a self imposed deficiency in B Vitamin, especially Folate B9.
Mum to be thought she was ‘saving the world by not eating animal products.

Once born, Greta was a bottle-fed baby and thus deficient in the stuff (saturated fat) that babies use to finish building their brain.
After that, up to puberty, Greta was deprived of fat, fed on carbohydrate sugar hence leading her to be short in stature & chubby, unintelligent and destined to a life dominated by dieting.
Diets revolving around stuff recommended by Doctors and Governments but will will only make her condition worse. And everyone’s. And that of The Climate.

The madness has already crept up on you, Peta. Greta’s first attempts to get her parents to go vegan was at the age of 15. Look it up. They weren’t vegan when she was born. The majority of people in some entire countries are bottle fed and they (almost all) develop normally. Farmland isn’t drying out, as dry farmland gets irrigated to produce crops. Farmland isn’t “nutrient free”, that’s obvious to everyone who grows and develops just fine – the vast majority of all people worldwide. Ammonium nitrate doesn’t cause soil erosion, the main causes are water, wind, and tillage. Farmers, with the assistance of soil conservation experts, have (mostly) developed methods to control erosion, they have to in order to be able to continue to farm. Give it up, Peta, you’re giving reasoned critics of the so-called climate crisis a bad name.
Does anyone know the names of the adults using teenagers to front this? The names given in the articles for the “organisers” are teenagers. Nationwide co-ordinated action like this takes planning and very often permits for protests. Someone has to inform the media who will have their stories pre-written and ready for submission on the news wires.
It is not unexpected as Coivid scares are fading that the groups organising this would want to keep the drumbeat going to make headlines.
I notice Griff hasn’t been on for his two penn’orth about the wonders of wind. Perhaps because on a fairly windy Saturday (low demand) with a fair bit of cloud cover in the UK Gas+ Nuclear are providing 51% of demand and wind+solar 29.25%. The EU is chipping in with10% which is as much solar

The position is the same in the UK – nobody will invest in new gas-fired generation as the economics don’t work. A plant that got planning permission never got built because the figures didn’t add up and that has probably lapsed now. So the only way to get back up generation built is to wave wads of taxpayers cash to make it economically viable to fill in for the unreliable wind and solar that was only built because of taxpayers cash, and so rotates the wheel of stupidity.

Or they could try actually studying the science of climate change instead of taking someone else’s word for it.
If they did do their studies, they would find they have nothing to worry about concerning CO2.

These climate cultists are ignoring real environmental concerns for this made up climate crisis (scam) issue.
I’m a maths teacher in a school in London (that’s in England, for you yanks). The achingly left-wing Head wanted to support the kids going on a climate strike, until I pointed out to him that unless all their parents wrote letters asking for specific permission to take their children out of school for the day, we’d have to register all the children as “unauthorised absences”, which could result in him having to deal with uncomfortable questions from the Department for Education . He went a bit quiet after that….

We should start by demanding they reduce their emissions by half. Give up the phones, walk everywhere and heaven only knows what they can wear . Kangaroo skins perhaps, or better still they can sew mouse skins . We have a serious plague of the little rodents here in Oz at the moment which PETA want us to catch and release. My sister is trying to find out PETA’s office address in Sydney so she can send a container full from her farm for PETA to catch and release in the city.
