From the Boston Herald;

Embattled Massachusetts climate official David Ismay resigns ‘immediately’

Adds in resignation letter shared with Herald: ‘I would like to apologize, again, for my comments’

By JOE DWINELL | joed@bostonherald.com and ERIN TIERNAN | etiernan@bostonherald.com | Boston HeraldPUBLISHED: February 11, 2021 at 9:46 a.m. | UPDATED: February 11, 2021 at 11:37 p.m.

David Ismay, the Baker administration’s $130,000-a-year climate change undersecretary, has resigned “immediately,” citing his incendiary comments.

In his resignation letter, Ismay wrote: “It is with great regret that I submit my resignation, effectively immediately, from the position of Undersecretary for Climate Change in the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs.”

The resignation letter is addressed to his boss, Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs Kathleen Theoharides. He emailed a copy to the Herald Thursday morning from his private hotmail account.

The following is a video of David Ismay making his controversial remarks to the Vermont Climate Council.

I encourage you to click the youtube link to view the original, but given ongoing big tech censorship there is a chance it will disappear. Note this copy of the video has been cropped, to just show David Ismay’s face.

What is the point of a carbon tax or restrictions on oil and gas drilling, other than to “break the will” of businesses and consumers? Perhaps David Ismay is just being a little more honest than other climate activists, officials and politicians.

All climate activists have to offer people is coercion and poverty; if they had something better to offer, there would be no need for carbon fees and taxes, government expenditure, climate lockdowns, oil pipeline shutdowns, and punishment for non-compliance. People would eagerly embrace green solutions of their own free will.

Why does a person who actually believes that climate change is dangerous and wants to do something about it have to be paid $130K?

Poorer people live in older homes. They have less insulation, and old, inefficient furnaces, window AC and leaky doors and windows. Fixing any one of these problems costs thousands, and the interest on the loans is predatory. Fixing only half of these problems will cost more than they save in utility bills.
Fifteen years ago I insulated my home to the levels needed to meet HP insulation requirements. As I already had whole house AC, changing to a HP lowered my electric bill for the year, ignoring the future value cost of the insulation, Last week I looked at bringing it up to new insulation standards. Using very favorable Home Equity loan, it would take ten years to pay for the insulation using the projected savings. Thuss it is not going to get done.

Poorer people live in older homes. They have less insulation, ….

So you are an expert on poor people?

Insulation is cheap and it does not take a rocket scientist to install it.

The problem is that efficiency improvement are a case of diminishing returns.

Hearing and A/C systems have a known mechanical life. I have replaced systems in 3 houses over 30 years before they failed. This year I took the stimulus check to replace my system.

The bid I went with was $12k less than the highest bid. I was skeptical based on the wholesale cost of the equipment. To make a reasonable profit, they would have to do a good job.

They did an excellent job. Two guys showed up on time with the new equipment on the truck and started to remove my old system. One of the technicians came over and asked me why I was replacing it. Because of health issues, we would be staying in a hotel until fixed and with covid not a good choice.

Two hours into the job, a second crew arrived to help with the heavy lifting phase. Their truck had some old units on it. The old unit ended up in the back of pickup of the guy who questioned me. I suspect he knows a ‘poor’ person who will get a few more years out of it.

Here is my point. There is a guy that made $130k and is out of job because he does not understand ‘poor’ people. He has zero ability to keep his house warm or cold. If he thinks my house should not use energy, his house will go first.

Every overpaid goverment hack, including POTUS, sets the thermostat the same was I do. ‘Honey where do you want to set the temperature?’

And with that one comment he has woken up anyone who heard it.

The resolve to battle this AGW CRAP and its socialist/marxist agenda, will be greatly increased.

That is why he had to resign.

He gave normal people ammunition.

Opened people’s eyes.

So we’ve moved from Triumph of the Will to Crushing of the Will?
What’s infuriating is that we already have the technology to move seamlessly from a high emissions system (coal) to a low emissions system (nuclear) via a medium emissions system (gas) over the next 20-30 years without compromising a grid viability. I would reserve the high emissions fuels for developing countries so that they can achieve the same standard of living as us over the next 30-50y, then move over to low emissions when they are rich enough to do so. Putting up with a bit of warming is worth it for the smooth transition.
Our current road looks like grid catastrophe coupled with authoritarian fiat iced with energy poverty.

What about all the other people on the video conference call? Where are their resignations? Watching them all bobbing their heads in assent is every bit as bone chilling as the “incendiary” original comment.

I noticed all the talking heads nodding in agreement as he spewed his nonsense to the Vemront Climate Council. Whose members are entirely composed of appointed non-elected bureaucrats, busybodies, gadflies and toadies.
Your typical liberal “Council”, ready to rubber stamp anything the administration proposes.

Good riddance to that idiot, do you think there’s any chance that the rest of these sycophants will get the message and resign?

Sad that such an underling became the fall guy . . . the MSM should have followed the trail to the very top (POTUS) to find the basic advocate of this philosophy and edict.

“…explaining his intention to break the will of ordinary consumers, to make them stop emitting CO2.: – article

“Emitting CO2”?????? Humans emit CO2 when they exhale. Is he saying we should stop breathing? Looks like it to me. In fact, I consider that to be exactly what he meant.

However, I don’t “emit” any more CO2 than anyone else, so my response to his asinine suggestion/instruction/demand/whatever is: Ismay, you should consider surgery: get your mouth sewn shut.

It is ironic that he fails to understand that he will one day be in the very position of the people he despises so much, that he wants them dead.

Ignoring whether climate change is real or not, whatever happened to democracy? What would the vote be if people had to choose between (1) reducing their standard of living, today; and (2) maintain their standard of living but risk having to adapt to a new climate that may reduce their future standard of living?

It is the height of arrogance for the minority to force their decision on the majority.

I live in Connecticut but listen online to Howie Carr’s show from Boston and heard this as it was breaking. He said that 62% of all emissions come from senior citizens and people in residential neighborhoods. And since there are no more bad people to blame, these groups are the ones who have to sacrifice. And his infamous words “We have to break their will.” What exactly is that for a senior citizen? The will to keep their house warm, or enough gas in the car to obtain groceries and other necessities? Of course you can rest assured that beautiful people like Ismay will never be cold, or go hungry, or lack in anything they want at all. The only thing surprising to me is his resignation.
