President Trump has levelled a grave accusation that unnamed members of the FDA are deliberately letting people die in order to influence the upcoming Presidential Election.
I support use of vaccines, and when travelling overseas ensure that I receive every available vaccine.
But vaccines, especially new vaccines, are not zero risk.
Obviously the risk of vaccination has to be seen in the context of catching the actual disease the vaccine provides protection against, which is usually far worse than any vaccine complications or side effects.
In our risk averse times there is an obvious temptation for bureaucrats to drag their feet over approvals, to avoid taking responsibility, as bureaucrats frequently do. But there have also been serious cases of bureaucrats who have such polarised feelings towards President Trump, they have acted against his Presidency. Leaving aside whether you personally believe such actions are justified, it cannot be denied that some elements of the US Civil Service want to bring down the President.
Are some obstructionists so extreme in their motivation that they would deliberately allow people to die? President Trump appears to think so.
This is one of those occasions when I am really glad I’m not the person who is responsible for deciding what to do about this mess.
The obvious solution to politically motivated obstructionism is to liberate private medical companies from oversight by a team of civil servants Trump no longer appears to trust. If President Trump does this, any vaccine trial deaths which could conceivably have been prevented by better oversight will be blamed on the Trump administration. But if the President truly believes that civil service malfeasance is obstructing the development of a desperately needed life saving vaccine, he may have no other option than to do what is right, regardless of the consequences for him personally.

If anyone has a reason to suspicious of the Washington swamp, it’s Donald Trump. Once you use the FBI illegally to get a guy, being paranoid should be your default setting.
Trump is right about the conspiracy/collusion to sabotage his administration, but he hasn’t overreacted and made the missteps that lead to Nixon’s downfall. He is an extraordinary man, likely, and has better support from people near and fellow Republicans.

HCQ and zinc while not a cure have been shown effective in at risk patients who take it early.

Rushing new vaccines is a bad idea and it is already being rushed beyond my belief. No animal testing and carry on to stage 3 when stage 2 had 20% severe reactions requiring medical attention or hospitalisation?

I will stand by my previous analysis, published way back on 21March2020. Dr. Falsi and others grossly over-reacted to this relatively mild flu, which was less deadly than the 2017-18 seasonal flu and only highly dangerous to the elderly and infirm.
We would have been ~infinitely better off to overprotect the high-risk population and let everyone else carry on their daily lives at work and school – with perhaps some simple precautions. Governments are loath to admit they trashed the economy for nothing, but the truth is slowly leaking out, as evidenced by this German report:

The idiotic full-Gulag lockdowns were initially intended to prevent our hospitals from being overrun by the “tsunami of cases” that never arrived. One idled ~600-bed Calgary hospital peaked at ~6 cases, more typically 2 or 3, as elective surgeries etc. were cancelled and hospital staff were severely under-utilized. The utter foolishness of this approach should have been obvious within a week or so, but continued for months.
All the lockdown accomplished was to delay herd immunity from being achieved during this summer season, and possibly encouraged the virus to survive into the 2020-2021 flu season. Attaboys all around – a total failure.
There is little doubt now that my 21&22Mar2020 assessment (below) was correct – the greater questions is: ”Was the full-Gulag lockdown just a really stupid error, or was it a deliberate scam?”

LET’S CONSIDER AN ALTERNATIVE APPROACH:
Isolate people over sixty-five and those with poor immune systems and return to business-as-usual for people under sixty-five.
This will allow “herd immunity” to develop much sooner and older people will thus be more protected AND THE ECONOMY WON’T CRASH.

This full-lockdown scenario is especially hurting service sector businesses and their minimum-wage employees – young people are telling me they are “financially under the bus”. The young are being destroyed to protect us over-65’s. A far better solution is to get them back to work and let us oldies keep our distance, and get “herd immunity” established ASAP – in months not years. Then we will all be safe again.
