President Trump has announced threatened the USA will withhold funds from the WHO in the wake of their gross mishandling of the Chinese Coronavirus outbreak.

Trump: U.S. to withhold funds from ‘China-centric’ WHO
Trump threatens to withhold U.S. funding from ‘China-centric’ WHO

By Tom Howell Jr.– The Washington Times – Updated: 6:14 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2020

President Trump said Tuesday the U.S. will put a “powerful hold” on U.S. funding to the World Health Organization, saying it struck a “China-centric” tone as the coronavirus virus unfolded and dragged its feet in declaring a pandemic.

“They could have called it much earlier,” Mr. Trump said. “When they call every shot wrong, that’s no good.”

Mr. Trump said the U.S. pays a disproportionate amount to the public health arm of the U.N., so he wants to see if it’s worth committing the money.

“I’m not saying I’m going to do it,” Mr. Trump said.

Even CNN criticised the WHO’s abysmal China centric mishandling of the Coronavirus epidemic.

Despite widespread criticism of their initial missteps, WHO shows no sign of getting their act together and focussing on their core mission; In the middle of a pandemic, a week ago a senior WHO advisor published an article exploring how to insert climate action into the global pandemic response.

The WHO has been worse than useless; in my opinion they helped add credibility to China’s lies and false assurances, which lulled the world’s governments into believing the pandemic was not a major issue until it was too late.

Correction (EW): corrected the web link to the CNN article criticising the WHO.
Correction (EW): Nick points out that Trump only threatened to withhold funds. The Washington Times updated their article since this post was written, the original title was a direct copy of the Washington Times.

UPDATE: h/t Craig – Sky News Australia reports the WHO is refusing to release the names of the doctors who vetoed a pandemic declaration in January.

World health Organisation refuses to name staff who blocked early COVID-19 travel bans

EXCLUSIVE: Digital Editor Jack Houghton

The World Health Organisation has refused to release the names of doctors who blocked an early bid to declare coronavirus a global health emergency.

A Sky News Australia investigation has revealed a group of WHO doctors debated whether to declare the deadly coronavirus global emergency in late January but those who wanted to implement strict travel restrictions were outvoted and instead, the body released a glowing statement praising China, followed by a recommendation for countries not to ban travel to China.

Having a democratic body where most of the votes come from dictatorships, who though that might work. The UN delegates that vote should come from only democracies that hold decent elections. The rest can have a chair but not vote.

Then we get Dr. Fauci today praising the head of the World Health Organization.

You didn’t need to do that, Dr. Fauci.

Perhaps Dr. Fauci has a personal relationship with the man, I don’t know, but Tedros’ public behavior is questionable at best. He’s accused of downplaying Cholora epidemics in his home country of Ethiopia, and now here he is downplaying the Wuhan virus pandemic.

I don’t know why Dr. Fauci felt the need to praise this guy. It will probably come back to haunt him. No doubt some leftwing reporter will be asking Dr. Fauci about what he thinks of Trump cutting off his buddy’s funds.

Dr. Fauci is like a fish out of water when it comes to politics. He leaves himself wide open to criticism because he doesn’t understand just how determined the leftwing reporters are to get Trump. He thinks everyone is a nice guy like he is. Including Tedros, I guess.

You’ve put yourself in a postion where you have some explaining to do, Dr. Fauci.

Dr. Fauci was interviewed on Fox News this morning and was asked about Trump’s theats to defund the WHO, and Dr. Fauci said he didn’t want to get into the politics of it, and left it at that.

Good answer, Dr. Fauci.

Any serious topic you don’t want to deal it is “politics”.

Yet these MORONS make policy recommendations all the time. That’s what “politics” is, BY DEFINITION.

WHO was criminally negligent; making deadly recommendation not to shut down travel out of China in January and February. Their alignment with China’s economic interest when Wuhan was locked down has cost at least tens of thousands of lives and, yet to be established, economic loss globally.

Anyone funding the WHO is contributing to their criminality. The sack Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus petition now has 750k signatories:
https://www.change.org/p/united-nations-call-for-the-resignation-of-tedros-adhanom-ghebreyesus-who-director-general
The best way to get rid of him is to shut down the organisation. WHO has done nothing to support medical workers throughout the world. Each country and, in some cases, individual States are competing for the same medical supplies, pushing up prices. The pandemic response should be on a global scale. WHO has done nothing to foster that. All countries have done their own thing.

“WHO was criminally negligent; making deadly recommendation not to shut down travel out of China in January and February.”

They definitely made deadly recommendations. WHO kept the airplanes flying, spreading the Wuhan virus all over the world for weeks, after the Chinese leadership and presumably the WHO knew they had an extremely infectious disease on their hands.

This is a crime against humanity. A crime demanding harsh punishment.

The University of WA forecasts now include other countries. This UK:
https://covid19.healthdata.org/united-kingdom

This forecasts peak daily toll of 2,932 on 17 April. Overall UK death toll forecast to exceed the USA.

This group predicted two weeks ago that NY would reach a daily toll of 855 on Good Friday. It appears the peak today of 791 may be as bad as it gets. But the prediction in number and timing was quite good.

Overall US toll total forecast is falling. Now at 60k. It was 80K two days ago.

Both Italy and Spain appear to be well past their peak death tolls. The Imperial College Report 13 forecast for this week shows them still rising or cresting, not reducing.

US is the single largest contributor to WHO, providing about 15% of theirtotal funding. Taking that away would definitely send a message.

U.S.Senator Graham, whose Senate committee is in charge of allocating money to the WHO, says his plan is to eliminate any funding for WHO from the next budget. So I guess it is going to go from $122 million per year to zero per year.

If the WHO fires Tedros and initiates reforms suitable to the U.S., then they might get their allocation back. WHO “Business as Usual” is not acceptable. WHO “Business as Usual” has ended up causing the deaths of countless innocent people with their “mishandling” of the Wuhan virus pandemic.

At the bottom of this is the nature of how UN appoints people to senior roles .
These positions are first and foremost ‘political ‘ not ability based .

Roughly it works by each part of the world taking in turns to get the job , now it depends on ‘nice’ the role and how much it ‘offers’ how big a fight there is about which country gets the job , no ability nor experience plays a part at this stage. Then the ‘winner ‘ gets to appoint a person , with a ‘good job’ that often ends with those related to the rulers in getting the role , no other qualifications are required.
Once in post they have two main tasks, firstly grow the area as UN bodies never , ever die even if the reason they were created has long gone , and secondly use their role to ensure their ‘legacy ‘ which includes a finical one .

Given this its hardly a surprise to find such UN bodies so often fail or are prone to corruption .

“The ARTE documentary „Profiteers of Fear“ from 2009 shows how the mainly privately financed WHO „upgraded“ a mild wave of influenza (the so-called „swine flu“) to a global pandemic so that vaccines worth several billion dollars could be sold to governments around the world. Some of the protagonists of that time are again prominently represented in the current situation’

is it any worse than 2018-

he 2017-2018 influenza epidemic is sending people to hospitals and urgent-care centers in every state, and medical centers are responding with extraordinary measures: asking staff to work overtime, setting up triage tents, restricting friends and family visits and canceling elective surgeries, to name a few.

“We are pretty much at capacity, and the volume is certainly different from previous flu seasons,” says Dr. Alfred Tallia, professor and chair of family medicine at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center in New Brunswick, New Jersey. “I’ve been in practice for 30 years, and it’s been a good 15 or 20 years since I’ve seen a flu-related illness scenario like we’ve had this year.”

Tallia says his hospital is “managing, but just barely,” at keeping up with the increased number of sick patients in the last three weeks. The hospital’s urgent-care centers have also been inundated, and its outpatient clinics have no appointments available”

by Tim Hains
Bill Gates joined “FOX News Sunday” host Chris Wallace today to discuss his accurate prediction five years ago that the most deadly thing in our future would be a virus…
“It is fair to say things won’t go back to truly normal until we have a vaccine that we’ve gotten out to basically the entire world,” he added…

2 Apr: Washington Times: Bill Gates and his coronavirus conflicts of interest
By Cheryl K. Chumley
Bill Gates, the billionaire who founded Microsoft and, along with his wife, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, just called for a complete and utter shutdown and quarantining of the entire American nation, saying the spottiness of some states doing it and some states not has put all in coronavirus jeopardy…

At the same time, though, Gates is one of the largest funders of the World Health Organization, one of the forefront agencies to warn, advise and counsel governments of the globe on matters pertinent to epidemics and pandemics. On matters pertinent to the WHO-declared pandemic.
But WHO didn’t always see the coronavirus as a pandemic.

As a matter of fact, WHO didn’t announce the coronavirus as a pandemic until the very day after Gates — who had wished for some time that WHO would declare the coronavirus a pandemic — well, until the very day after Gates made a very large donation to a cause that benefits WHO…
Take a look at this timeline…

In a 2017 piece titled (LINK), “Meet the world’s most powerful doctor: Bill Gates,” Politico wrote: “Some billionaires are satisfied with buying themselves an island. Bill Gates got a United Nations health agency in Geneva. Over the past decade, the world’s richest man has become the World Health Organization’s second-biggest donor, second only to the United States. … This largesse gives him outsized influence over its agenda. … The result, say his critics, is that Gates‘ priorities have become the WHO‘s.”…

We will not be able to return to normalcy until we find a vaccine or effective medications,” e said. “I know that’s dreadful news to hear. great choice, Joe:

2014: The Atlantic: Ezekiel J. Emanuel: Why I Hope to Die at 75
An argument that society and families—and you—will be better off if nature takes its course swiftly and promptly
Let’s begin with demography. We are growing old, and our older years are not of high quality…
It is not just mental slowing. We literally lose our creativity…
Today, when the doctor recommends a test or treatment, especially one that will extend our lives, it becomes incumbent upon us to give a good reason why we don’t want it…

I take guidance from what Sir William Osler wrote in his classic turn-of-the-century medical textbook, The Principles and Practice of Medicine: “Pneumonia may well be called the friend of the aged. Taken off by it in an acute, short, not often painful illness, the old man escapes those ‘cold gradations of decay’ so distressing to himself and to his friends.”…
My Osler-inspired philosophy is this: At 75 and beyond, I will need a good reason to even visit the doctor and take any medical test or treatment, no matter how routine and painless…

This means colonoscopies and other cancer-screening tests are out—and before 75. If I were diagnosed with cancer now, at 57, I would probably be treated, unless the prognosis was very poor. But 65 will be my last colonoscopy. No screening for prostate cancer at any age…

What about simple stuff? Flu shots are out. Certainly if there were to be a flu pandemic, a younger person who has yet to live a complete life ought to get the vaccine or any antiviral drugs. A big challenge is antibiotics for pneumonia or skin and urinary infections. Antibiotics are cheap and largely effective in curing infections. It is really hard for us to say no. Indeed, even people who are sure they don’t want life-extending treatments find it hard to refuse antibiotics. But, as Osler reminds us, unlike the decays associated with chronic conditions, death from these infections is quick and relatively painless. So, no to antibiotics.

Obviously, a do-not-resuscitate order and a complete advance directive indicating no ventilators, dialysis, surgery, antibiotics, or any other medication—nothing except palliative care even if I am conscious but not mentally competent—have been written and recorded. In short, no life-sustaining interventions…

The UN has become a toxic organization. In their wisdom, they appointed Ghaddafi to oversee human rights, they proposed Mugabe as a goodwill ambassador. WHO and IPCC are shining examples of their sprouts.

Let’s walk away. No, let’s run.

I’m not a citizen of the UN. I’m a citizen of the US.
I’ve never been in favor of dumping the US’s money into a international organizations that are not governed by and its authority over the individual US citizen (and their assets) are limited by the US Constitution and The Bill of Rights.
(We fought and won a revolution to break outside control over us regarding such things.)
I’m a bit tired of the elites saying “Let the eat cake!” when we’re left footing the bill.
The US didn’t attain its prosperity by following the economics and politics they espouse.

April 8, 2020 1:36 pm

*SIGH*
Typo
“…US citizen (and their assets) are limited by the US Constitution and The Bill of Rights.”
Should be:
“…US citizen (and their assets) are NOT limited by the US Constitution and The Bill of Rights.”
(I know there are other typos but that’s the biggie.)
