COP26 Delay: Climate Activists Hopeful They’ll Have New President in the White House

Guest essay by Eric Worrall

Climate activists are hoping the COP26 Climate Conference delay will give them an opportunity to get rid of President Trump before the conference, to improve their odds of securing funding from US taxpayers to give the conference a much needed boost.

‘We must use this time well’: climate experts hopeful after Cop26 delay

Moving summit gives world time to respond to coronavirus and may allow a new US leader to join talks

Moving the 26th conference of the parties to an as yet unspecified new date next year gives countries time to work out their responses to the Covid-19 emergency, which experts hope will include commitments on shifting to a low-carbon economy rather than propping up the fossil fuel industry.

“There is an opportunity in the recovery from the Covid-19 crisis to create a new approach to [economic] growth that is a sustainable and resilient economy in closer harmony with the natural world,” said Nicholas Stern, one of the world’s leading climate economists. “That will be the challenge and opportunity of Cop26 next year. We must use this time well.”

Whether or not there is a change of administration, the delay has an advantage for countries negotiating with the US, said Nathaniel Keohane, a senior vice president at the Environmental Defense Fund in the US.

“Under the original schedule, the Cop was going to be overshadowed by the US elections regardless of the outcome,” explained Keohane. “The shift in schedule will allow countries to react and respond. If a Democrat wins in November, then by the time of the Cop, the US will have re-entered Paris and will be able to send a high-level political delegation, giving an important and positive boost to the talks. And if Trump is re-elected, other countries will have had time to absorb that information by the time of the Cop and know definitively that they have to move on without the US.”

The COP crowd really are parasites , in the most open, direct and obvious way.

After the dust has settled after the Covid-19 panic, there will be very little spare money left over. The National Banks will not be able to print any mone money without risking a financial collapse. After Covid-19 has finally drawn to a close, there will be a lot of important things that need money spent on them, Money will not be directed to hypothetical, vague, alarmist activities designed to reduce vital CO2 from the atmosphere.

Nicholas Stern, the ‘leading climate economist’ is a pompous fool. When he ‘advised’ the Blair government he proclaimed that if we did nothing by the end of the century Antarctica would have melted completely. Utterly disconnected from and clueless about reality.

“…. rather than propping up the fossil fuel industry” This is one of the misconceptions most warmists seem to have — that oil companies somehow are receiving vast subsidies that ensure their survival. I have seen several studies done by, I assume, “environmental economists” supposedly showing this as a justification for the subsidising renewables. The revenue raised by western governments from their taxes on fuel is huge, in many countries two or three times the retail cost of the product. This was the reason for the oil embargo by OPEC in the seventies when oil was four dollars a barrel and the cream was being taken by the buyers. Oil is now thirty dollars a barrel or less, the lowest since the eighties and production flows on. Oil companies do not need “propping up”.

Seriously, it could happen… if it does, you can bet whatever little self respect you have left that he’ll try to get himself a third term. You heard it here first folks… and the wizard behind the curtain that is the US will be revealed, China will have bought ALL the US debt and then your sorry asses are cooked! The next boot to touch the surface of the Moon will have ‘Made in PRC’ embossed into the sole.

Resistance is futile. It’s over. It’s been over for the last 20 years. Head on over to the nearest gun shop and get yourself an assault rifle while you can. It’s not the Democrats you should be afraid of, but the Chinese and Russians, who understand Murica better than you do.

Look – a squirrel!

You didn’t hear it here first. I actually had that thought some months ago already and expressed it to my family. Trump is on record for admiring Putin. What better than to try and emulate his model of getting a puppet (somebody from his current team) in for after his next term, assuming he gets reelected? And if he actually loses the election, the supporters of him that have started to take him as their God will accuse anyone of manipulating the election. The USA is on the best way to becoming ungovernable.

PS: Why are comments like the above, which make fun of killing people, allowed on this site?

This is a thinly veiled attempt to make all fans of cheap electricity vote for that despicable Trump.
I will, what else can I do?

The only way Trump is going to lose the election is via Democrat electoral FRAUD. Mainstream media LIE about Democrat popularity to make a Democrat victory through fraud seem plausible. What it shows is that MSM itself peddles lies. MSM is the propaganda wing of fraudulent entities.

Do we really want such fraudulent cheats in charge of the USA? Do we really want false news narrative to be regarded as truth? It is not the first time in human history that the media have been controlled by insidious forces. Just because (after the fact) the world cottoned on to Nazi propaganda does NOT mean we are immune to it. The People have to wake themselves up that they are being fed propaganda – swallow the bitter pill. That bitter reality pill will help with immunity to propaganda.

For those that have not woken up that MSM are the propaganda wing of the Deep State, now is the time.

I had a virtual team Friday “beer o’clock” session after work yesterday (Having a fridge at work stocked with beer and wine is still an alien concept for me even after 25 years downunder, NZ and Aus), most people were in their homes, I was in the office as part of a skeleton crew so the beer (Cider actually) was free to me (YAY!). We were all in a virtual meeting via MS Teams, and it works rather well IMO. But the discussion soon got on to “leadership” in the current COVID19 scare. And then soon got on the subject of how Trump in the US, Johnson in the UK and Morrison in Aus and how they got elected and how show no leadership in the face of this pandemic. It seemed to me that most of my teammates are not fans of democracy, which surprised me.

“The EU is a basket-case, teetering, so when the European Parliament had the chance to “fix” the carbon market yesterday, they surprised everyone and chose not to. Being unfixed, it’s free to collapse, which it did and by 40%.

“The Economist headline today is “Carbon Trading Below Junk Status”.

The EU carbon market once was around €22/tCO2 (that was 2008). Australia turned up five years late to the party, and is still trying to trade at similar rates.

Today Point Carbon is listing the carbon price as “€2.80“. Obviously, subject to change, and possibly trending-to-zero.

[BusinessTimes] “Campaigners and traders warn the carbon price could now fall below 2 euros or even to near zero in the coming weeks, and government sales could fail if they don’t meet minimum price requirements, as banks that act as liquidity providers pull out.”

The EU carbon market is not dead yet, but this could be a game changer
[The Economist] The rejection [of the bill to rescue the carbon market] was a surprise. The parliament’s environment committee had looked at the plan in February and approved it by a surprisingly wide margin of 38 votes to 25.

As expected, most members of the largest political alliance, the centre-right European People’s Party, voted against the proposal. This was needed, they argued, to protect consumers from higher energy bills. What came as a surprise is the fact that all but four British conservative members of the European Parliament also voted against the plan. In doing so they defied their own government, which has introduced a carbon floor price in Britain that could soon be higher than the European carbon price. And the European Socialists, which had been expected mostly to back the proposals, instead split, with 44 in favour of the plan and 31 against.”

Go the Brits!

The Economist speculates on whether the proposal might be resurrected (it’s been sent back to the environment committee). It could come back. Though ultimately, the MEP’s would have to change their minds. Since it was an important vote, and practically everyone turned up on the day, that’s a good sign. It might be hard to get any version through. Still, hold the champagne. The vote was 334 to 315”

Activists’ only hope of a climate negotiation breakthrough is to get rid of President Trump.

And the only hope for the rest of mankind grimly hanging on to our wallets and dwindling freedoms is the end of the climate lies and such arrogance and hypocrisy as is clearly visible at these taxpayer funded pig trough fests.
