For years now, people like environmentalist and journalist Bill McKibben have been screaming from the treetops that we need a World War II-scale mobilization to fight the scourge of climate change.…
I mean, yes, I’ve met Greta Thunberg, the Swedish teen who is “schooling world leaders” on climate policy and who started a global school walkout movement. …
But the scale of the outrage in no way matches the magnitude of this disaster, which, like WWII, threatens to cripple or even obliterate human life on the planet as we know it.
We’ve known the truth about climate change — that people are burning fossil fuels and warming the atmosphere, with potentially catastrophic consequences — for decades now. James Hansen testified about the dangers of global warming when he was an NASA scientist in 1988. The New York Times headline: “Global Warming Has Begun, Expert Tells Senate.”
Since then, the eco-woke among us have created more than enough deadlines to try to force change. In 1990, as George Marshall wrote in his book “Don’t Even Think About It,” the magazine Ecologist published a book called “5,000 Days to Save the Planet.” About 5,000 days later, the Institute for Public Policy Research declared that there were “Ten Years to Save the Planet.” In 2008, he wrote, the New Economics Foundation said it was “100 Months to Save the World.”

Project Drawdown and others have identified and ranked the solutions that work. But to date, there have not been enough carbon taxes or other incentives to scale those ideas globally.

John mentions he contributed to the litany of climate deadlines, with his 100 days to save the world piece back in 2015.
But does personally issuing just one climate deadline really constitute a serious effort to motivate the deplorables?
If journalists like John had say issued us with a new climate deadline every month, or even a new deadline every week, surely at least we’d have a global carbon tax by now. We might even be well on the way to handing control of the global economy to someone like Green New Deal architect Alexandria Ocasio Cortez.
Face it John, you’re just not trying hard enough.
I wrote some after seen the Greta Thunberg hysteria, maybe to fast but the ting is that if we don´t show that the CO2 _threat is scientific rejected it will become a religion and critic will be punish as blasfemi.

For the CO-2 Threat to be real it not enough to find ledd out radiated energy to space as function of higher CO2, it must show that this not only can take earth to the more life friendly climate in last interglacial when earth was 2,5 C warmer and 8 C warmer during 6000 years on Greenland (the ice become 25% less then).

To take earth out from this 2,6 million years long ice age the average temperature must be 5 C higher and that can be done with less desert.
Sahara radiate 16% more energy than the region had done if it was covered with as sick forest as Amazonas.

The other is from Niels Bohr Climate institute and show that the interglacial was 8C warmer during 6000 years on Greenland and 2,5 C warmer global.

I think you all have missed the point of Mr. Sutter’s comments. His fault though for not ending with a sarc tag.

When you hear or read a quote like “to fight the scourge of climate change.” these thoughts should come to mind:
1. Industry and commerce as we know it must be destroyed, consumerism is causing climate change.
2. All countries must surrender their sovereignty.
3. Full Blown Socialism comes next the world is the state and the state is supreme, capitalism is dead.
4. Central control and planning for all human activities implemented.
5. World communism is born with the state press singing its praises.
These people are not to be admired or revered they are nothing but evil fascist goons that seek to plunder your wealth and freedom. The Green New Deal, CAGW, etc. are nothing but playbooks to implement totalitarianism, plain and simple.
If the media, politicians, scientists, hollywood really want to send a message that will not be ignored they need to lead the way and stop flying, stop having huge face to face meetings, give up on large multiple waterfront mansions, big cars etc. Its not that complicated. People see the hypocrisy and denial-by-action in these people and form the obvious conclusion that they don’t actually believe what they are saying.

I’ve heard of the Thirty Years War and the Hundred Years War but this is ridiculous.
The climate has, in fact, changed. There are less green people today than hoped. There are more people who are practical and rational, and subsequently deny the prophecy of Catastrophic Anthropogenic whatever. This is positive progress. That said, we need a thank you Nixon day to celebrate practical and rational oversight of our relationships with ecology, and, of course, Teddy Roosevelt with fauna, and so on and so forth.
I love this relatively new term “woke” (and now the variant, “eco-woke”). It is so descriptive in such a simple, monosyllabic fashion. When someone describes themselves as “woke”, they are claiming to be cool, hip, with-it, etc. What I hear, though, is someone who is absolutely, utterly pretentious, clueless and self-absorbed. These folks are not “woke” – they’re “wack”. They are not “eco-woke”, they are “eco-wack”. Let’s call them by what they are: wack!

John Sutter’s “analysis” is the kind that invokes the irrational fear that you very well might have gotten a little dumber just for having read it.
The home page on my laptop is My Yahoo, a neglected holdover from my first days in the Internet. Yesterday, one of the articles was long missive from NBC News, IIRC, that went on and on about climate change, heat waves, weird weather, etc. I scrolled down to the comments section, and every comment for as far as I dove in (about 20-30 comments) absolutely eviscerated the article, claiming scientific fraud, calamny, corruption, ignorance, propaganda, indoctrination — you name it. They tore that article to pieces, and not one voice in the top postings defended any of it.
It made me feel a little better. Yahoo is no conservative site, and the skeptic pile-on made me wonder if there’s more pushback out there than we know. Certainly, we’re not going to hear about it from the local news.
The public are tired of seeing a new chimp every year whipping up tears and a new eco porn story .
Yes CO2 is rising , what a shocking surprise . That is why the earth is greening as satellite pictures show .
Why do the Green pretenders have a problem with that is the question ?
