Not content to keep to the terrorism prevention mission for which they were founded, DHS’s Janet Napolitano now plans to battle a religious war of “climatic jihad”. Here’s what happened the last time Washington DC took on weather in February 2010 (but not climate). The capital was shut down of course. Now that’s “environmental justice”. Look for pat downs at airports soon for those carrying concealed carbonated beverages.

Napolitano Says DHS to Begin Battling Climate Change as Homeland Security Issue
Friday, December 17, 2010
By J. Brady Howell
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano (CNSNews.com/Penny Starr)
(CNSNews.com) – At an all-day White House conference on “environmental justice,” Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced that her department is creating a new task force to battle the effects of climate change on domestic security operations.
Speaking at the first White House Forum on Environmental Justice on Thursday, Napolitano discussed the initial findings of the department’s recently created “Climate Change and Adaptation Task Force.”
Napolitano explained that the task force was charged with “identifying and assessing the impact that climate change could have on the missions and operations of the Department of Homeland Security.”
According to the former Arizona governor, the task force would address specific questions, including:
“How will FEMA work with state and local partners to plan for increased flooding or wildfire or hurricane activity that is more serious than we’ve seen before? What assistance can the Coast Guard bring to bear to assist remote villages in, for example, Alaska which already have been negatively affected by changes up in the Arctic?”
The findings from the Homeland Security Department (DHS) also asked: “(H)ow can we focus on how climate change is going to affect our rural citizenry including those who live along our borders both northern and southern?”
…
The conference did not define “environmental justice,” and the only reference to the task force that can be found is on the DHS Web site. The June 2010 Department of Homeland Security Strategic Sustainability Performance Plan states “climate change has the potential to accelerate and intensify extreme weather events which threaten the nation’s sustainability and security.”

The headline for this post ,
“Department of Homeland Security goes off the deep end – now plans to battle “climate change” in addition to terrorists”
does not reflect the position that Janet Napolitano takes in the actual story.
Napolitano is not going to battle climate change. She is taking the projected impacts of global warming into account in providing for the nation’s security.
If one accepts that natural disasters and climate refugees will impact the people of the US in years to come, Homeland Security and specifically FEMA , should take that into account in their planning.
How much longer until there’s a new president?
Maybe, instead of looking for terrorists in car bombs, they will look for vehicular ‘CO2 bombs’ that will heat the atmosphere and force the world to a tipping point that will destroy life as we know it.
Keep an eye out and report to your local Homeland Security office, any large tracts of land covered in running, unattended vehicles.
No doubt we will see this insanity on Oz shortly.
Now we know why they did not close Gitmo. They are going to ship all the snowflakes off for intensive interrogation.
It also has the earmarks of Holdren and Soros all over it.
This move by DHS makes perfect sense in government bureaucracies. DHS has not yet found an effective source of external revenue. Stopping and arresting illegal aliens doesn’t work. You cannot extract any fines from them because they have no money. Molesting children at the airport may be entertaining, but that does not bring in any revenue, nor does the petty pilferage of travelers trinkets by their cohorts while the TSA gropes the travelers.
This is a move to go for the big money of carbon taxes. They are not likely to win this as the EPA has been staking out this territory. But they are specializing in travelers who have money, so the coming interstate highway inspections will offer all types of opportunities for fees, licenses, and fines; especially if they can attach something to fuel costs. What they really need is a spectacular vehicle bombing to create a crisis that only they can “fix.” This will give them an excuse for the vehicle inspections with licenses and fees to be added after about 1-2 years.
“Department of Homeland Security .. now plans to battle “climate change” in addition to terrorists” – Now that makes a lot of sense. Terrorists can be dealt with by off duty hot-dog vendors and facebook users but a 0.7 degree temp rise in 100 years? .. that’s scary – that obviously requires big money, guns and missiles.
If BigSis has the authority to fight climate change then she can seize property, right? Your beach house was blown away by a hurricane and, now, BS will seize your property. For your own protection. Because climate change has made it uninhabitable. Blah blah…blah.
I had to go to LA late last week. In the course of the trip, I had to undergo a rapid climate change of nearly 10F. Fortunately, it seems that I was able to adapt and did not need to call in DHS. It could be that the problems have a delayed onset, but so far, I have suffered no ill effects. Before reading this press release, I was unaware of just how lucky I am to have adapted — good genes I guess. In anycase, its comforting to know that DHS stands ready to assist others who are less able to adapt.
Nasty, although not that too unexpected. Far easier to be seen ‘winning’ on climate terrorism than real terrorism – as we well know the climate figures can be made at first glance to show whatever is needed, all the motivation is there..
Weren’t these the same liberals that were complaining about wire tapping?
Graeme’s First Law of Bureaucracy
“Any government department, once constitituted, will increase it’s scope of operations without internal limitation until it holds control for the entire scope of operations of the government.”
Graeme’s Second Law of Bureaucracy
“Any government department will seek revenue in direct proportion to its scope of operations.”
The impact of the first and second laws is that DHS is treading on the turf of the EPA.
Govt dept turf war coming up.
“Environmental justice” is the most absurd, ridiculous, insulting newspeak phrase I’ve ever heard in my life.
So Janet Napolitano is going to battle the climate.
As I recall my history, Caligula marched down to the beach to battle his fellow god, Poseidon, god of the sea. Came back with some sea shells.
I suspect he was more successful than Janet will be.

This administration is insane.
No, the people who voted for Obama and enabled this administration are insane. Now let’s hope they don’t do it again.
no doubt there’s money to be made for DHS, and taxpayers’ funds to play with.
in Australia, a desal plant that cost a billion dollars of taxpayer money has been mothballed, and a carbon capture scheme aborted after $100m of taxpayer money was thrown at it:

What is needed to deal with DC “climate disruption” are plows, sand and salt (and enough people on call at the right time to distribute the above where needed).
There, now where’s my grant?
“Environmental Justice” = redistribution of wealth, but with green lettering instead of red.
“Environmental Justice” to me means those blindly advocating the cause of Man Made Climate Change / Warming / Disruption getting caught in a blizzard whilst wearing only shorts, T-shirt and flip-flops.

“This has nothing to do with emergency response to climate change or changing the climate. It has everything to do with what is being said about climate change and by whom. Now they can claim that what is said about the climate can be deemed a threat to the nation.”
Exactly, they are building a “consensus” for political action – no need for that pesky House of Reps if they do it right.

Poor Eadler. Going to side with the bureaucrats who have pretty much the intelligence quotient of “Stormtroopers.”
Pathetic, really.
Well….while you trust your Big Sister “Janet Napolean” and her evil male twin, “Barak Hussein”….go for it.
They may fool you….but they don’t fool us!

And Janet Imcompetano vaults back into the lead for most brain damaged functionary in Chairman Zero’s administration, once again edging out AG Holder. 2012 seems so far away. I hope we survive these commie morons.
The following headline makes about as much sense as the original:
“(CNSNews.com) – At an all-day White House conference on space aliens Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced that her department is creating a new task force to battle the effects of space aliens on domestic security operations.”
Ms. Napolitano further stated that “after viewing many informative science fiction movies, the need for developing a battle plan against space aliens had taken precedence over developing a battle plan against
islamic terroristsforeign terroristsbad guys…”Janet the incompetent can’t secure our borders, if she takes on climate change nothing will ever come of that either.
