Podesta emails: 'Carbon Tax has a Chance if Hillary wins' – but 'it's lethal in general' don't mention it

In case you’ve been under a rock for the last few days, Wikileaks has been dumping emails from Hillary Clinton campaign manager John Podesta. Podesta is firmly in bed with the anti-American interests over at the antithetically named named “Center for American Progress”, home of climate flamer Joe Romm, an organization with yearly funding of over 30 million dollars at last count. I’ve been looking at a few of the emails that talk about climate, and I just had to share this one because it represents so clearly the differences between public and private pronouncements that’s been talked about lately.

hillary-fallon-carbon-tax-lethal

Another important passage is:

Policy, is there any chance we go near such a proposal or can we nip this in the bud tonight?

Clearly, they don’t care about “saving the planet” they care about saving their ass in the election. Because “carbon tax” is just too toxic to talk about until after you’ve secured the vote.

You can read the full email here:

Simon,
“Please regal me with Trump lying stories. I’m absolutely fascinated to see you contrast Trumps record of ‘lies’ vs clintons.”
Where to start. Is the internet big enough to allow me to tell them all. Probably my favourite is the latest. We have him bragging that he can grope and kiss woman because he is famous. Then when woman come out and say he did…. he calls them liars. How stupid does he think the public are? Given he seemed proud of his exploits, I don’t think there is much doubt who is doing the lying here?

‘I don’t think there is much doubt who is doing the lying here?’
So, as I expected, you can’t come up with even one. What you DID provide was a typical Progressive misrepresentation of the facts – positively DRIPPING with phony indignation.
Trump said he could pick up women because he was a star. True. An axiom, in fact.
What he said he DIDN’T do was sexual harassment – because what he ALSO said was that no means no, and if they say no that’s the end of it.
Lying may not be the exclusive domain of the Left, but they’re the ones that get away with it.

There is not much doubt claims Simon, ok Simon, please lay out the evidence beyond slander that Donald did what these women claim? Sure, he’s a sexist pig but that doesn’t prove he did with respect to the latest claims.
Nah Simon, you’re just all talk and hyperventilation. Like climate science, you rely on consensus and appeal to authority stuff instead of showing the evidence when it comes to building a constructive argument. The very fact that you can’t mention Lying Hillary says it all really. Grow a backbone Simon, America and the western civilisation’s future is at stake here.

Simon. Saying, “I could just kick you in the fanny, you are so annoying,” is not an assault.
In the second debate (I clearly recall this, for the male (forgot his name) moderator pushed and pushed to get this response), Trump said that “No, I did not do those things.”
Saying is not doing.
Now, destroying evidence Congress has subpeonaed…. and having those you supervise wipe/bleach/scrub data…… and lying to the F.B.I. …..

Well one down already, almost no one (except you & ilk of course) will believe any that the MSM trots out (Lona Burnstein was a longtime friend of Crooks):
Lona Burnstein: She is the one from 11 years ago…but I know her family and she is definitely lying… pretty sad actually, nice family
Julian Brachfeld: So when did she even meet Trump ?
Lona Burnstein: She was working as a secretary for some company and she met him that way…he was being nice to her and told her he would contact her for a modeling career and he never did…end of story.

First Anderson Cooper plants the hook, at the debate, after the timed tape release, and then all the prearranged plants arranged by the Clintons – obviously as a counter to the Clinton’s own history – are paraded out over the next week. And the media talks about nothing else.

1. Where is your cite for that quote? As I recall it, you omitted the word “probably” as in probably invented by the Chinese …
2. A “lie”? — Not if Trump believed that statement to be true when he said it.
3. “Wrong”? — Prove it.
4. “Bollocks”? — Prove it.

Re: Simon (at 4:50pm, today): You are unfamiliar with fashion modelling (if that is what your comment was about). The models take off and on one outfit after another. It is common for male staff to be in and out of the changing area. That Trump walked through, thus, was: 1) normal in that industry; 2) i.e., the models do not have an expectation of privacy; they know ahead of time they may be glimpsed and they do not care (I and many women would, but, they do not); 3) it would not have afforded him much of a thrill, given how quickly clothing is back on and how very slender the models are….
Re: your mischaracterization of my informing you that many men talk foully and mean nothing by it —
I agree with you that there are MANY men who do NOT do this (and a man striving to please the Lord would try hard not to do it). I also agree with you (and if you had given more careful attention to exactly what I wrote, you would know this already) that it is disgusting behavior. HOWEVER, the fact remains that many highly-qualified to run a business or the country men, who are decent people in general, DO talk like that and it should not disqualify any of them from running for office. And further, that talk is NOT why the RINO’S stabbed him in the back — they used that as one of their flimsy fig leaf excuses.
Finally, Mr. Simon: As of 5:19pm, PST, you have yet to produce even one lie by Donald J. Trump.

Simon: You still have yet to produce one lie from Trump.
Your unsupported by any cites to evidence assertions are NOT “production.”
To refute you, I would have to take quite a bit of TIME to find cites. Since you did not take the time to cite to documentary (or other) evidence, I am not going to bother.
Re: the beauty pageant issue — I don’t know the facts, so I cannot comment. That Mr. Trump was inappropriate in what he saw there (if so) would not make me not vote for him, especially given his horrendously U.S. Constitution-destructive, socialist-in-all-but-name, crook of an opponent.
I can say this, however: of the two candidates, the one who will best manage
— the economy,
— energy policy (= economic health, also)
— national security (cyber security/state secrets, our borders and 1s!am!c terrorism)
— the State Department and the Justice Department
the one who will honor and “preserve and protect” the rights we enjoy under the U.S. Constitution is: Donald J. Trump

I have now given you four clear cut lies. I think you are starting to lie about the lying (I jest).
But here is the thing. I have read a lot of what you have said in the past and I think you have high principles. Christian principles. So it is really puzzles me that people like you, particularly Christian women like you, can overlook how immoral this man is. In my book there seems to be not a shred of decency in him. He will say whatever he needs to to get votes. I get you guys don’t like Hillary, but his levels of honesty plummet below anything I have seen in western politics. I mean, look who is left supporting him? Not the Hispanics, not the African Americans, not the women, I mean not even the the smart republicans. So who is left?

Simon, you are a poster boy with what is wrong with lefty “fact check” stuff and the dissembling and diversions from behavior that costs the American people trillions. Some lies are, indeed worse than others. It’s one thing to be moved to deny some embarrassing thing you were caught out on like pinching a bottom or getting caught on tape saying you did. It is another thing entirely to lie about carelessness with state secrets, or to inveigle voters to vote for you by telling them stuff that you aren’t going to do (you have secret speeches you were paid millions for to assure Wall Street she is telling the people one thing but not to worry she will leave the big banks alone), or to parlay a government job into a pay to play scheme, or to give access to foreign donors to your foundation to the state department …. Hillary’s campaign was basically purloined from Trump and Bernie Sanders because their plans were more attractive to voters, but it is clear she has no intention of honoring her promises (the economy, lousy trade deals, etc.).
I’m sure you were horrified by Russian purported hacking of emails which is the big noise drowning out the fact that the emails are the story we should be horrified about. Gee Russia is compromising the election against Hillary when in reality, the emails are a stunning indictment of the dishonesty and self enrichment of Clinton. Don’t be a sap Simon. Trump’s salacious exploits are not in the league of those like Bill Clinton and JFK and his brothers. Take-away for the easily fooled like yourself: Most presidents in America and around the world have a “bad” track record with women, and JFK was a good president and Bill Clinton wasn’t bad either. Al Gore had his massage parlour amours and he came within 500 votes of being president and no one gave a damn about his peccadillos. If you love your country, don’t let it get into the hands of Hillary Clinton – her lies are dangerous to your health and well-being.

Dear Simon,
As an evangelical pastor said recently in the news, I do not agree with some of Trump’s values, but I am with him on the issues (please see above).
As to the “Liar of the Century” award which you seem to be trying to award to Trump. Seriously??? She has him beaten (remember, to win that award you must have lies of a particularly vile nature or of significantly damaging consequence, not mere peccadillos) 100 times over. Her lies are often stupid (e.g., being named for a man years before he achieved the feat that made him well-known around the world; or asserting what could easily be refuted with widely available videos (the “under fire” lie or the “I never said ‘gold standard'” trade deal lie). But, she scores top marks in the “vile” and the “damaging” categories. We’ll get those people who made that video (to the families, TO THEIR FACES, of the Benghazi attack while they watched their loved ones’ bodies being carried from that big plane while the military band softly played, “Abide With Me”).
That Trump is sometimes obnoxious or violates my personal standards is not pleasant to me, but, I can easily set that aside and vote for the person who will best serve to “protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.”
Trump is exceptionally well-qualified to make prudent and wise decisions about the economy. America NEEDS that kind of business acumen and commitment to what makes JOBS happen. He will do a super job of strategic planning and of hiring people to implement those plans to bring Detroit and like Democrat-ruined areas back to life.
And he loves Israel. So do I.
Hillary is just 4 more years of Obama & Co. and nearly every foreign policy action they have taken in the Middle East (millions of dollars to fund that viper Iran, Israel’s sworn enemy, for instance) has been harmful to Israel. God told Abraham that he would bless those who bless Israel (and curse those who curse it). (Genesis 12:3). And throughout history, you can see that this is exactly what happened. Does the Babylonian Empire exist today? The Roman? The Ottoman? The Third Reich? They each thought they would last forever.
So, too, I hope that (we just cannot know God’s timetable — but, it is coming) this is the year that God says of the Democrats with their largely anti-Israel policy choices, “Enough.” Part of one prayer that I regularly pray is (I’m quoting myself verbatim), ” … and please punish Dope and his thugs for any shabby treatment of Israel, not our country as a whole.” Netanyahu said to the joint session of Congress as he pleaded with them to not support that terrible Iran deal, (from memory, only) “… we will go it alone if we have to.” But, Israel is never alone: El Shaddai is their “refuge and strength, an everpresent help in trouble.” (Psalm 46) God will never abandon Israel completely. They are “the apple of his eye.” (Zechariah 2:8)
So! Bottom line: even with all his failings, Donald Trump is the best choice for the freedom and prosperity of the average citizen of America.
And there are MANY blacks, Latinos, gays, and members of other typically in-the-tank-for-the-Dem-no-matter-what groups VOTING FOR TRUMP. And, I daresay, many women. (ahem!)
Simon, Simon, ask yourself, “Why? Why am I so strongly and persistently defending Hillary? Is it because I have a loathing for ____? or am bitter about ____? or I am getting back at so and so?” Just think about it, that’s all.
Christians and Jews (we share all the same basic values) and members of other belief groups that value honesty and honor women ALSO value our freedom and economic prosperity. We can all vote for that! And that, in this election, means we will vote for Trump.
I hope, Simon, that we can talk more along these lines, in the months (and years!) to come here at WUWT, a wonderful place to learn (smile)!
Take care,
Janice

All of them: Michell Obama, the President, Biden the media are well aware of big wig democrats who are horndogs as wildly out of control as Bill Clinton ever was. That’s acts resulting in sex…not “stealing a kiss” or “coping a feel”…that would make the number of guilty democratic big wigs unmanageable. The hypocrisy is stunning. In the last two months the Clinton campaign has requested and received help from Al Gore who was himself reported to the Portland, Oregon Police for inappropriate behavior with a licensed masseuse in his hotel room by the woman herself the night it happened in the last two years. The hypocrisy is stunning.

Only people who are literally clueless about reality think that separate dressing rooms and nobody walking around is the norm. (The exception is of course kiddies.)

I like this from Scott Adams on the latest Trump groping claims (which Adams says is “too engineered for a civilian to concoct during an interview”) because (he says) unless the claims can be shot down then Hillary is sure to win because of the women’s vote which then makes them responsible:
“The next four years are likely to be some of the worst in our country’s history. The Republican establishment will make sure of that because a failed America is in their best interest in the short run. Four years from now they want to offer their chosen savior (Paul Ryan).” . “She’ll be buried in scandals, both real and imagined. Hillary Clinton is all yours, ladies. She and her alleged rapist husband are your brand now. Wear them well.”

The thing that struck me most about the interview with the ‘octopus woman’ I heard on the BBC was, a) she accused Trump of coming at her like an octopus – with SIX arms; and b) she said that Trump started off by trying to fondle her upper body, and that, if he had just stayed doing that she was quite open to it. It was only, she said, when he went up her skirt that she drew the line and moved back to coach.
If you wrote a soap script like this you’d get shown the door.

Reading farther down on Scott Adams’ blog we find that he has become the victim of the social justice warriors. His speaking engagements have gone to zero and they’re starting to put up bogus reviews of his books on Amazon. In other words, they’re going after his income.
They remind me of the Red Guards.

The most gruesome aspects of the campaign included numerous incidents of torture, murder, and public humiliation. Many people who were targets of ‘struggle’ could no longer bear the stress and committed suicide. In August and September 1966, there were 1,772 people murdered in Beijing alone. In Shanghai there were 704 suicides and 534 deaths related to the Cultural Revolution in September. In Wuhan there were 62 suicides and 32 murders during the same period.

These social justice warriors and the postmodern ‘scholars’ who abet and inspire them are really nasty business.

“Former businesswoman Jessica Leeds, 74, told The New York Times that Trump groped her on a flight in the early 1980s as they sat next to each other in first class.”
And this was on an aircraft apparently with stewardess nearby so all she had to do was complain or scream; so obviously made up….

A suspected leak was that guy Rich, who is suspected of leaking the DNC leaks which showed the primaries were rigged for Clinton, and Sanders was thrown under a bus. Sanders took it lying down too, but seems to have ended up with a nice new property conveniently.
Politics is clearly an illusion, is anyone even remotely believing otherwise these days?
As for the allegations against Trump, Hillary Clinton corruption allegations are going since the 70s n Nixon, Trump’s only appeared after he started running, it’s patently obvious what is happening.

Janice, here is another “needle” job to add to your list of names.

William Joseph Casey (March 13, 1913 – May 6, 1987) was the Director of Central Intelligence from 1981 to 1987. In this capacity he oversaw the entire United States Intelligence Community and personally directed the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
The day before Casey was scheduled to testify before Congress related to his knowledge of the Iran–Contra affair, Casey suffered two seizures and was hospitalized. Three days later, Casey underwent surgery for a previously undiagnosed brain tumor.[1]
Casey died of a brain tumor in 1987 at the age of 74.

Yet another example of forked tongue Clinton’s “two positions, one public, one private” (not an exact quote) modus operandi.
Clinton (at 2nd debate): (quoting from memory) “Well, (hyuck, hyuck, ghastly grin) uh, actually…. I was quoting Abraham Lincoln at the time {at Wall St. fundraiser}…. .”
Historian: Then, you GROSSLY mischaracterized Abraham Lincoln. He had only one POLICY. He always had a private opinion that slavery was wrong, but, his one and only policy for which he did any significant action to make happen was what he publicly stated — the public was not ready to fight for slavery, just to preserve the Union. LATER, he changed his one and only policy to include emancipation, for the public opinion had shifted. That he privately had a personal opinion and desire was NOT to lie about his what his real policy was to gain votes, as Clinton did (to get the Sanders/lib base votes).
She slandered ABRAHAM LINCOLN!!!

Lincoln did not believe that blacks were equal to whites. He wanted to move them out of the country. He used emancipation to achieve his primary objective to keep the Southern states in the Union to benefit the business interests of the industrial Northern states. Abe was not honest. He was a politician and he violated the Constitution whenever he needed to in order to achieve his objectives. Lincoln’s illegal war against Southern Independence was, like all wars, about economics.

The literal fact is ….. that the resident population living in the western part of the State of Virginia DID NOT vote to succeed from the State of Virginia on account of they didn’t want to be living in a “slave state”.
The literal facts are, Lincoln ceded western Virginia away from the State of Virginia to create the State of West Virginia, ….. (which by the way was a DIRECT violation of the COTUS). …… because he wanted control of the Railroads from Baltimore/Washington, DC to the Ohio River ……… otherwise Lincoln knew he would lose the War.

Off topic but i need to vent —
BOB DYLAN HAS BEEN AWARDED THE NOBEL PRIZE IN LITERATURE???????????????
What the FK!!!!!!!!!! Giving Al Gore the Nobel Peace Prize makes more sense than this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Giving O’Bummer the Nobel Peace Prize makes more sense than this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Back in the sixties i was a big Bob Dylan fan and I can still listen to him — but his lyrics are childish and his topics left wing dribble. And he was wrong about everything he ever sang about. Probably his most famous line —
“You don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows” —
certainly got the direction of the wind wrong. DISCO WENT BIG!.
Commercial? When Christian rock looked like it had a future he, a good Jewish boy, started writing Christian themed songs trying to revive a disappeared career. He has been musically dead for the last forty years.
Nostalgia seems the driving force behind his award — the old men in Stockholm wanting vindication for the ridiculous antics of their youth. This award to Bob Dylan is just one last burning tire thrown into the street and it smells just as bad.

Harry Passfield —
A couple one liners do not a Nobel Laureate make. 99% of what Dylan has written is poetic junk. Lift it out of the music and it becomes obvious.
As to “Chelsea Hotel” — i wrote the little ditty below quite a few years ago. The line from “Chelsea Hotel” — “Well never mind, we are ugly but we have the music” — reminded me of it.
The poem was actually written as an exercise in various line rhythms — compare lines 11 and 12 for the most obvious example. Instead of “The Magic” is could almost be called “The Music”. The pointlessness of it is the point of it.
THE MAGIC
We make our way among half-savage tribes
Whose Art is to destroy, whose strength is great
Their Temples are bloody, we pay them bribes
To camp in the shadows outside their gate
To their pride, through the day, we bend our knee
Yet in fear for themselves they broach our tent
And they praise — or they beg — but pay our fee
To unravel the dream their god has sent
Staring at stars as if gaining their light
We nod and say as if we comprehend
“Certainty only is certain of flight
On wings of change that none can call or send!”
So has it been and will always be so
For the magic we make — they do not know

Some 7 billion dollars of it, before it was removed by a conservative government, was funneled into the UN’s coffers to save the planet.
Remembering we are only a piss ant country of some 23 million people!
As with Clinton, another socialist, she intends to inflict it on the American people. Unannounced till after the election but we’ll and truly planned for before the election.

She sold her Adelaide house for ~AU$2mil IIRC (I am confident that taxpayers owned that property, but didn’t get to benefit from a sale). She is hoping to find a job at the UN, just like Kevin Rudd. Not bad for someone from Barry, Wales. Pity the whole South Australian state power grid went down on Green energy policies.

When Obama switched his “heart felt” position on gay marriage after he was elected, a lot of leftists that I know stated that they knew Obama was lying during the election. It was just one of those things he had to do in order to get elected.
They were proud of him for being able to get away with it.

Can you imagine if the Trump people claimed that Hillary was conspiring with Russia to rig the election?
The media would go crazy calling the Trump people conspiracy theorists, wackos, etc. Every late night show would make fun of them mercilessly.
But Hillary and Obama claim the Russians are hacking the emails to hurt Hillary and the MSM repeats this claim over and over – and will continue to do this until the election. No proof or evidence needed.

It’s now a matter of fact that Hillary’s foundation received donations from Russia while Hillary’s state department gave Russia control over 25% of US Uranium. There was also a shipment sent from Japan, where MUCH US uranium is located. Make no mistake, Japan also has nukes.

She serves her masters, she is nothing more than a henchwoman who makes billions sitting in the cut.
The Soros leaks also show that they see wonderful opportunities in the refugee crisis. Now what could they be?
The UN is under the same yoke, Soros Rockefeller, heck it’s not even remotely Con sp1r4cy theory these days. Mind you the lib media will have you believe it is.
All the so called “crazy” theories of yesteryear are panning out, 1980s “Government is watching everything we do” – UK mass surveillance on the UK population began in…. yup, 1984, to them it’s a road map.
Of course mass surveillance wont stop terrorism if they are watching us, and the same people who control the mass surveillance also control the terrorists. Given ties to Saudis and Saudi ties to ISIS, cmon.. if its not pantently obvious.
No wonder you had world leaders ragging on Con spir acy the ori es, like David Cameron at the UN “Conspiracy theorists are non violent extremists as bad as ISIS”
Now france is about to pass law censoring what they label as con spir acy the or ies from the internet within France.
Sweden censors internet too, this I have seen. That country is being destroyed by the UN migrant policy.
Finland has taken LOTS of immigrants and refugees via UN and now the EU wants to ship in many more.
It’s a great way to destroy national identity for the coming global gov.

The most significant thing about this email is the admission that a carbon tax is not about climate, but about a new tax to raise revenues.
“Shumer, the Senate Democrats’ leader-in-waiting, said that a Clinton presidency and a return of his party to the Senate majority in 2017 could pave the way for lawmakers to enact a carbon tax to help fund the government.”
The climate change alarmist meme is just the trojan horse vehicle to accomplish adding a new tax.

For all politicians the goal is to get elected. They want people to love them. They don’t want to say anything that may alienate a voter – particularly those who may be persuaded to vote for them.
Almost no one achieves high office or great wealth with a clean back story – power corrupts etc. Possibly the only people that could claim great achievement built on unflinching principles and morality are Nelson Mandela, Ghandi and the Son of G-d – and I’m not sure about the first two!!
Both Trump and Clinton are hugely flawed individuals. But as leader of the free world do you want someone possessed of a supreme egotistical arrogance capable of great strengths and profound stupidity, or one who may spend a few billion on futile energy initiatives.

The difference between the two for me is that Trump, as a business man, will likely surround himself with able advisers and, being neither black nor female, will be impeached should he go beyond what congress will tolerate. Clinton is, on the other hand, a known corrupt individual who likely will appoint to the supreme court individuals who will bring to fruition the “fundamental change” to the US that has been the stated goal of Democrats. With her election, we can kiss the second amendment good-bye. Climate policies between the two couldn’t be more diametrically opposed, either. To minimize the Clinton position as “a few billion on futile energy initiatives” borders on biased political nonsense.

To me, the tragedy is that the Republicans have been suckered into choosing the one and only candidate who could lose the presidential election to Hillary Clinton. All the media has to do in order to make Clinton president – and they are doing it assiduously – is to keep the focus on Trump.
These two are not just the least popular candidates in a long time, they are surely also the absolute worst. Al Gore included (and I thought I would never be able to say that).
Sad times.

If Trump could knock out 17 of the finest in primary, the problem is bigger than you think. Trump appears to have been right that the Washington establishment left and right have been shifting to the lefty-elite trough together. I think he deserves huge kudos for what he managed and he spent his own money doing it. I think he is a savior for America which is pretty much on the brink with more of the same and in this case worse with Clinton.

Yes. Clinton would already have won.
Trump is taking votes from the Democrats, and bringing back people who haven’t voted in years, and would never have voted for Pence.

All most all politicians meet the first criteria (if you think Clinton doesn’t then reference Colin Powell’s Email about her) but I’m afraid you’ll have to provide concrete examples of his “profound stupidity” unless you admit up front that you are the true genius that knows all (per a typical liberal):

Another, slightly off topic quote, but important.
Ivey wrote on March 13, 2016-
“And as I’ve mentioned, we’ve all been quite content to demean government, drop civics and in general conspire to produce an unaware and compliant citizenry. The unawareness remains strong but compliance is obviously fading rapidly.”
Snopes tried to say it was taken out of text. But, of course! (Bill Ivey, Chairman of National Endowment for the Arts, to Podesta)

“Hillary’s boss at the Watergate investigation described her as an incompetent, dishonest lawyer. The Washington Post just endorsed her for president”
“Week after week,” writes Zeifman, “flawed legal opinions and dubious procedural rules were being churned out by Rodham
“Hillary lied intentionally to me”
Repeatedly, Zeifman refers to the “ethical shortcomings” and “erroneous legal opinions” of Rodham”

The media has danced around asking Hillary the direct question . It is obvious from E mails that you have been advised to not discuss a plan to impose a carbon tax on USA citizens until after the election . Your advisors claim it would be lethal for you to do so .
Are you planning to impose a carbon tax if elected ? If so why has this not been announced before now ?

Mrs. Clinton said that it was her intent to continue the Obama administration. Obama’s approach to deficit reduction calls for matching all new taxes and tax increases with budget cuts. Obama is already late with the budget cuts hat were suppose to have gone along with the tax hike on the rich and ACA taxes. What additional budget cuts are being proposed to go along with the carbon tax?

Anthony,
I disagree. You infer “Clearly, they don’t care about “saving the planet” they care about saving their ass in the election. Because “carbon tax” is just too toxic to talk about until after you’ve secured the vote.”
Anthony, I am forever explaining to liberal friends why global warming/climate change is not the catastrophe they think it is. There isn’t evidence for that. The are misinformed, but given their knowledge, they certainly do want to save the planet, and they also want to win the election so that they can save the planet. The two are not mutually exclusive, quite the contrary. A conservative point of view I’ve always subscribed to is attributed to Otto von Bismarck, “Politics is the art of the possible.” There’s nothing unexpected in the John Podesta quotes. Like every other political consultant, his job is to determine a winning strategy.
