Just Stop Oil Terrorists Desecrate Stonehenge

The recent desecration of Stonehenge by Just Stop Oil activists using orange powder paint continues the escalation of reckless and disrespectful tactics embraced by climate change proponents. Stonehenge, a monument of immense historical and cultural significance, was subjected to an act of vandalism that not only disrespected the heritage of a nation but also underscored the extremity of current climate activism. This incident reveals a disturbing trend where ideological zeal overshadows rational discourse and civil behavior.

This act of defacement continues their demonstrations of a troubling disregard for historical preservation, previously with classic works of art, and now major archeological artifacts in favor of sensationalist stunts. The activists’ decision to target a World Heritage site illustrates a profound ignorance of the delicate balance between advocating for environmental concerns and respecting our shared human heritage. Stonehenge, an ancient marvel of engineering and astronomy, has stood for millennia, weathering the passage of time and the elements. To tarnish such a site with garish paint for the sake of a fleeting message betrays a profound lack of appreciation for its enduring significance, and thankfully will only hasten their loss of support.

Moreover, this incident raises serious questions about the ethical boundaries of protest. The blatant vandalism of a cherished historical site is unlikely to garner public support; instead, it fosters resentment and further polarizes debate, reducing complex scientific and policy discussions to simplistic and destructive acts of rebellion.

Effective change is built on dialogue, evidence-based policy, and mutual respect. By contrast, acts of vandalism serve only to undermine the credibility of the movement and erode the public’s trust in its motives.

Lock them up.

Misdemeanor, slaps on the wrist is the most likely result, but the whole organization should be made to suffer financially.

This stunt is actually a sign that the Just Stop Oil terrorists know that they cannot win by debate since they have nothing rational to say. This sort of behaviour simply alienates potential supporters so it is counter productive. They seem to be too stupid to realise this.

Yup. Stone Henge has seen bigger pillocks, and probably will do again.

Let them beat themselves stupider against some pieces of rock. There are other stone circles in the British Isles. Sure, the rocks are not as large, but the atmosphere is often better. I can’t even remember the name of the one I visited in the Cakes District (deliberate misspelling) where we got to look up at the majestic Blencathra.

They don’t need potential supporters, as they are being bankrolled by someone with lots of money, and the Government will do nothing meaningful to stop them.

since they have never actually engaged in debate you are mistaken in thinking they ever wanted too or tried to debate anyone … they want to win … by fraud, by intimidation, by labeling people deniers … they don’t care one wit for debate … they want to win …

It’s their financial backer, Dale Vince, who wants to win. Just Stop Oil are, to him, just useful idiots. All they want is the money and the fun of stuffing up as many other people as they can.

Dale Vince stopped funding them a year ago as the price for Labour accepting money (and influence) from him.

Again (with the little one), I take the glasses and tell it that “these are the evil result of the fossil fuel world, and this is for your own good”.

With the old one, instead of a scratch on the arm (it is a bit pathetic/sad watching the interaction of the brave lady & the old guy at the end of clip), he is dragged by the foot away from the hazard area until he stops being passive … drag him until he gets scared and starts to kick.

June 19, 2024 6:22 am

I suppose the point of it is to demonstrate how passionate they feel.

I never had any doubt they are passionate. What I wonder is why their passion should matter. What do they imagine it means to anyone not already convinced they are right? They can’t think anyone will be moved by nothing but their fervor. Only their fellow-travellers will think that’s important.

So it’s just a sort of mating-call.

JSO are funded primarily by Dale Vince. After a period as a penniless New Age traveller, Dale Vince went into wind farms, collecting generous government subsidies, and is reportedly now worth over GBP100m (not, it seems, a billionaire yet). So JSO are actually funded by government renewables subsidies not by big oil.

By funding JSO, Dale Vince is simply protecting his source of income – wind farm subsidies. Maybe he does actually believe his nonsense, or maybe he just knows how to collect money. He owns or owned a football team, Forest Green, which he forced to become vegan. Not a smart move, it seems, because meat-eating teams drove Forest Green so far down that it is no longer in the football league (we’re not talking first division here)

Stonehenge should be closed completely to visitors for several months to make the important point that such monuments have to be protected from people like this. Those who caused the closure to be required to make up the financial loss.

They have equated themselves with the radical Islamic State (ISIS), who desecrated, looted and destroyed cultural sites and artifacts in Iraq and Syria. If these lunatics are willing to damage art and artifacts, then we must conclude that they could easily move on to public beheadings. These people should labeled and treated as the terrorists that they are.

June 19, 2024 9:41 am

Just curious as to how much of that “orange powder paint” was derived from oil (i.e., petroleum)?

Then too, those large paint canisters were almost certainly charged using CO2 gas that in turn was expelled, one the primary “dastardly” things that results from burning petroleum products in air which the protesting idiots are supposedly so worried about.

“Just Stop Oil” activists: to paraphrase, they have brains yet cannot think.

JSO gets their finding from the far-left activist “Climate Emergency Fund”

Aileen Getty is not the heiress to Getty Oil. Her grandfather sold the company decades ago, so she just inherited money. People keep trying to tie JSO to Big Oil, but instead of having ties to oil, she also funds Greenpeace and politicians pushing the climate scam.
