Essay by Eric Worrall
Climate protestors once again taking advantage of Melbourne’s soft anti roadblock laws, to mess up everyone elses day – just a week after the last major protest.
Climate protestors stop peak hour traffic in Melbourne’s CBD
By Allanah Sciberras 11:29am Mar 12, 2024
Dozens of climate activists sparked traffic chaos when they blocked one of Melbourne’s busiest roads during this morning’s peak hour commute.
Extinction Rebellion protestors marched along Collins Street from 7am, disrupting tram and bus services.
The demonstration marks the first day of action for the group, who intend on “slowly marching” during every morning peak hour this week.
Motorists were furious over the disruption, with one driver telling 9News, it was “ridiculous”.

Melbourne is Australia’s traditional home of far left wackadoodles, and is generally pretty tolerant of their street theatre and other antics. But this latest outrage is trying the patience of Melbourne, following on as it does from a massive traffic jam just a week ago caused by protestors who blockaded West Gate Bridge.
The climate protestors didn’t have to create traffic chaos, this was a selfish decision on their part to disrupt and cause maximum inconvenience to others. A hundred yards from Collins street is the Bourke Street Mall. Lots of protestors use the mall as a place to make public statements to the thousands of shoppers who frequent the shops and cafes. Everyone accepts demonstrations in the mall as free speech. Mall demonstrators are usually considerate of the rights of others, and do not prevent shoppers and city workers from going about their daily business, or disrupt traffic.
It remains to be see whether this latest climate protest assault on commuters is enough to prod Victoria’s far left state government into following New South Wales’ lead, and taking firm action to crack down on illegal protest roadblocks.

Really, in Australia? who cares?
First they came …
Thanks Jim grrr..
Now if you had said “Melbourne… Who cares !!” I could agree.
They get what they ask for…. a weak, far-left government that is totally behind this urban disruption and probably won’t do a thing about it.
My friend went to Australia to scuba dive with sharks. I think it’s a death wish and don’t want anything to do with it. My favorite Australian is John Daly–but he’s no longer with us.
Personally, I’m more worried about being hit by an uninsured, unlicensed illegal immigrant, driving a junk car with poor brakes. Within the past year a mother and son were killed in this manner in my small town. The driver was also speeding and drunk and had been caught doing so previously.
Actually, I live in the greater Seattle area. We’ve had idiots blocking our freeways for the last fifty years. So sorry if I don’t really care about others experiencing the same inconvenience. Back during the Vietnam War era, the police would club these idiots. That’s not allowed now, so we just have to put up with delays.
I care about people everywhere, including Australia.
Instead of investing trillions of $ in the climate apocalypse avoidance, we should be investing in improving standards of living, real education, real health, food, security, and ending wars.
They are only driving people to go AGAINST their pitiful anti-science cause.
LOSERS at every turn… and if the police don’t do something, it is only a matter of time before other people do.
Let them try something like that in a country town…. see how long they before they are sprayed with cow effluent or similar !!
That would make a good song title 🙂
You mean like Aldean’s?
Damn, I was hoping for a song called “Sprayed with cow effluent!”
That should go to number 1 on the country charts 🙂
I wonder if any are actual real scientists.. rather than toy “scientists” like “social studies”, humanities, etc etc
They do seem to be wearing lab coats so that’s very convincing.
None of the scientists I ever worked with wore lab coats.
None of the scientists I know who wear lab coats have a clean coat, real scientific lab coats have stains.
The only time I ever wore a lab coat was in college chem lab.
On the other hand I have had to wear anti-static gowns for several of my jobs.
To people doing “social studies” wear lab coats… or aprons ??
Chaps maybe?
They borrowed the white coats from their doctors.
Do psychiatrists wear lab coats…. that’s the sort of doctor these clowns need to see. !
They got them from Obama’s White House Staff before the photo shoot press conference. And like all liberals will, they just kept them.
Probably about three of them and a bunch of ER idiots.
We are not safe!
I told you numpties that recently as for all you know the Commies could turn all your Trojan Horse EVs off at will or worse still kidnap them and turn you into guided missiles-

It’s why we pissed off Huawei you useful idiots.
except? we actually didnt piss off Huawei much. a hell of a lot of the wifi dongles are? yup theirs. optus are for sure . my old telstra one is ZTE also a chinese corp
They don’t behaviour like proper scientists would.
It doesn’t matter what they are when they are not being so destructive of other people’s rights.
They richly deserve 10X punitive damages.
Not to mention that their symbol looks similar to offensive symbols from white supremacy and neo-nazi groups. They appear to be sending all the wrong messages.
They’re not familiar with history and they’re still figuring out what sex they are. Its not surprising that they have trouble communicating well. We’re not talking about intellectual heavyweights.

The person in the front row of the open air protest with the face mask tells it all.
Ask this person six straight and simple questions about climate and weather and I doubt the person will be able to give a straight and simple answer.
Notice the number of women in the front row. They tend to be guided by feelings not logic.
Which do you think is Nick… trying to pretend he is a scientist ?
I wonder how many drove to their little gathering in petrol or diesel SUV’s?
They badly need a unicorn diversion like that while Nick’s busy with PR and the next 5 year plan and great leap forward-

Going after the NGOs that finance these “demonstrations” might be more effective. Jailing the Rent-A-Mob disposable bodies will only go so far.
They need to book them in a location very hard to get back from.
In Las Vegas, in the old days during major events, the Metro Police would take hookers to the far end of the county to book them, then the pimps would need to pay taxis to go get them and bail them out.
The method kept the hookers off the streets longer and made the MANY out of town pimps spend the money acquired in Vegas on Vegas taxis and in some cases bail bondsmen.
In the current state of affairs, they only arrest trick roll hookers, although the casinos will 86 many repeat “visitors” who excessively “cajole” their customers. Once 86ed, the police will take them into custody for trespass when detained by the casino security.
Of course the liberal state government there will probably process them as quickly as possible so they will be available for the next day’s protest.
Who is paying these people?
It was always my belief that the anti nuke protesters in the US outside of the Nevada Test Site and other places were paid by the COAL miners and plant builders, to help stop the progress of Nuke power plants.
They were just funding them to help block competition.
How’s that working out for them now?
One problem is the “cheapness” of social media. One person can invite thousands to some whine-a-thon in a public place for almost free. If they had to pay for stamps for the invitations and printing of posters, and the time to telephone everyone they know, most of them couldn’t afford the time or money and the “protest” simply wouldn’t occur.
Ah, the white lab coats make a return. “Scientific Rebellion” uses the ruse that these are scientists involved with this nonsense. So the protestors wear white lab coats as a trope to fool people into thinking these are scientists. I doubt any of them are. They tried this in the US a few years ago, some climate protest group was actually handing out white lab coats to anyone who showed up to protest. Must’ve bought them wholesale somewhere.
See my comment above. It was the Obama White House staff.
The only positive responses I ever see to these type of “protests” are from fellow activists. Most people seem to get turned off by them – they’re driving people away from their cause.
Hopefully they keep doing it.
What they are doing is technically called “mid level violence”. They are acting in a deliberately provocative manner (blocking roads, interrupting events, vandalizing property) in an attempt to elicit a response. The response is their primary goal and their audience is not the people they are trying to provoke. The audience is the rest of society, who do not have any particular interest in whatever issue they are activists for. The aim is to have their “opponents” react violently to their disruptive protest, and to use that violent reaction to play for sympathy from the wider community (i.e., “we just want “X”, and these bad people are attacking us for no reason”.
However, in this case, the awareness of the wider community that these people are disingenuous and that what they are advocating for would be grossly harmful to the wider community. So, they fail to garner sympathy, even when they elicit the violent reaction that they are trying to get. In that case (though I am by no means advocating a violent response, the correct response to these people is to clearly and loudly point out that they are engaging in provocation) they no longer get sympathy, but instead the reaction of the broader community is that they “got what they deserved”.
If these people were genuine (they are not), they would immediately stop these tactics and change tack to something more reasonable. But, they are at the end of the day acolytes of a cult (one that is fundamentally Marxist in nature). The tactics they are using are very familiar to Marxists of various stripes, and they will continue to use them because they are not acting reasonably. Under it all, they are resentful people who want power above all else. They are using “climate change” as the mechanism to obtain power, but would (and do) use any other method that may be convenient. A common theme of all of these movements is that the solution is always to give more power and control over people’s lives to some authoritarian body, to the point where every aspect of people’s lives is controlled, from thought to speech to movement to actions to the very act of remaining alive.
Here’s an idea. Buy an old junk car that burns more oil than gas. Drive to a spot in front of where these numb nuts are marching to and park in the middle of the street, engine running, fumes filling the air. As they march up to your spot slowly roll in front of them, spewing toxic air for them to breathe. Rinse and repeat. See how long they keep this up.
Couldn’t someone “accidently” release a pack of dingoes (preferably that are ravenously hungry)?
How about, rabidly hungry?
The official world’s worst Australian accent 🙂
A city official in Maryland wants to burn the US down. She believes that her ideology will be able to rise from the ashes. She has discussing with “friends” how they would be able to eat and live after the collapse the rest of society.

Technically, she’s an equity officer not a climate official, but this is the mindset that many, perhaps even most of the climate alarmists have.
story tip
I read it and was amazed when she mentioned she might have to go back to selling drugs. The city employed, presumably still employs, a drug dealer who apparently has no problem publicly confessing to doing it. Am I wrong in thinking that selling drugs is still illegal in the USA, or that admitting to illegal activity would get that person fired anywhere else?
All I see in that picture is people covered in oil. If they were serious, they would shed their synthetic shows and clothing produced with petroleum byproducts. They would rid themselves of cell phones and computers and throw the circuit breakers in their houses.
Their banner is plastic. Oil.
It is clear from this and other politics that the real purpose is to collapse the economy (world wide) and impoverish everyone except the billionaires who finance these stupidities.
They read the headlines, but not the science. Media today is political messaging.
Had they bothered to read the IPCC summary they would know that doomsday is not tomorrow and extinction is not a foregone conclusion.
typoe: synthetic shoes, not synthetic shows….
Well, since they’re not real scientist, it was a synthetic show.
Extinction Rebellion should live up to their name – don’t breed, don’t eat, don’t breath and don’t emit any more CO2 than it takes to decompose.
Corporal punishment.
