Cinderella Citizens: ARD Public Broadcasting Expects Regular Germans to Eat Worms, Live In Squalor

From the NoTricksZone

By P Gosselin

Privileged ARD German Public Television journalist Anja Reschke wants to turn Germans into worm-eaters, to save the planet. From paternalism to abuse.

Generously funded, spoiled ARD public television treats its regular viewers like Cinderellas who are to be exploited, to live in squalor and eat worms instead of meat. AI generated image by DALL E 2.

Hat-tip: By Daniel Matissek, AUF 1

Germany’s ARD public broadcasting network is funded to the tune of more than eight billion euros by compulsory fees levied on every German household each year.

But the network has gone far beyond its original charter of keeping the public informed and educated, and now appears to have even drifted past being an paternalistic institution with the self-assigned role of properly upbringing the masses of the working uncouth.

Let them eat worms

Today, if the latest is anything to go by, it seems the massive ARD network has gone yet a step further and now sees its viewers as Cinderellas who are to be exploited and relegated to live under forsaken conditions. Not long ago one highly paid and pampered ARD commentator even gleefully welcome the energy price shocks and seemed glad that the uncouth masses would soon have to wear rags and live in attics. “That’s good!” said Detlef Flintz.

The latest comes from ARD left-wing know-it-all Anja Reschke who appeared in the early evening program “Wissen vor Acht” (Knowledge before Eight) with a new nutrition tip for those who don’t want to wean themselves off “climate- destroying” meat: They can can simply grow worm meat in their “kitchens of tomorrow”.

“Round and juicy” after 6 weeks!

In the ARD show, Reschke demonstrates how worms can be grown and then fattened in six to eight weeks until they become “round and juicy”.

Then all they have to do is put them in the freezer “and later they can be processed into minced meat,” says the leftie journalist Reschke. Supposedly, the plant yields 200 to 500 grams of meat per week, but uses “only a fraction of the land, food and water compared to cattle or pig farming,” Reschke enthuses.

While a kilogram of beef produces around 70 kilos of CO2, a kilo of worm meat produces “just under three kilos.”

People will just have to get over their disgust

There’s only one obstacle: We only have to “overcome our disgust against insects as food, because insects surely belong on the menu of the future,” says Rescke. It just takes a little getting used to, Reschke seems to imply as she and her dim-witted daughters at the ARD ready themselves for the royal evening ball.

Meat eaters like “consumers of child pornography”

“This is no April Fools joke,” writes AUF 1. The ARD is dead serious about it: “This madness is meant dead-seriously. The climate mania serves to encourage people in all seriousness to eat vermin in order to save the world.”

Deutschlandfunk, also a part of the massive German public broadcasting organization, recently compared meat eaters to “consumers of child pornography”.

Wow! Even Cinderella’s evil stepmother never went that far.

I have yet to see any evidence that the protein yields from insects are anything like claims made. A significant part of the protein is in the non-digestible exoskeletons which, in any case, do not supply the range of essential amino acids that proper animal proteins do.

Either way, I’ll stick with Marmite instead, thank you very much. At least that comes from yeast which has already been asked to do something useful such as making beer.

The hominids that evolved into Homos did not grow their brains by eating grubs or any other insect. It was animal proteins which provided the nutritional value for that critical evolution.

The Elite in charge does not want to deal with an intelligent population and so supporting a worm-diet suits their aims perfectly.

good point …

To keep things on an even comparison they could include hair, horns, hoof, & bone protein in the cattle. The worms would still win out wrt to recirculating less CO2.

From the perspective of the anti’s, cattle should be considered a better deal, because they recirculate (sequester) more CO2 per pound than do the worms.

Either way, I don’t want to eat horns, hair, or worms.

Worms digest plant matter just like the multiple stomach animals.

Worm digestion, milligram by milligram, is likely just as big an emitter of CO₂ as the larger animals.

What is likely are that activists are purposely assuming small animals mean much smaller CO₂ emission. Especially as they fail to prove that worms produce more meat from lesser amounts of fodder.

Look at any sidewalk two days after a significant rain where earthworms inhabit the ground. Any evidence of worms are just dried mucus marks.

Butter!!
That’s the key. Anything cooked in butter should theoretically be tasty. I volunteer to be in the first group, and I will gladly prepare and saute the wee grubs in a fine wine and butter sauce for all who dare to try this futuristic haute cuisine.

Public television/government supported television needs to go away. I am not particularly for preventing these perverts from giving us their views but I am against me paying for it. Public television wasn’t a bad idea but has turned into a bad idea. People who choose to promote bad ideas should do it on their own dime. If what they are selling attracts lots of viewers then they will do well. On the other hand people like me who don’t appreciate it don’t have to support it. They would thrive or sink on their own.

Public radio should go too. The big PBS station in Albany, NY is led by a guy who established it. I found out that he earns almost 200K/yr- while preaching far leftism on the channel. It’s one thing for the poor to preach socialism but when the rich do it- I wait for them to volunteer to take a huge pay cut so they can be really appreciate what it’s like to be poor and to help the p oor. But of course they don’t.

Government providing information for the masses was always a bad idea. It just took a couple of decades for it to fully metastasize.

Throw the Canadian Broadcasting Service out too. They tell Cdns what they “ought” to be thinking rather than reporting news. May as well call them Pravda as it would be more honest.

Public television wasn’t a bad idea but has turned into a bad idea.”

The days of shows like original “Victory Garden” on PBS are long gone.

Victory Garden showed when and how to plant gardens, mostly vegetables. Plus, all of the preparations necessary for things like mulch, garden prep, twice turned soil, etc.

Now, most of the how-to shows mostly push products and services. In the old days, on New Yankee Workshop Norm Abrams showed how to prepare, layout, measure and cut wood, assemble the components into a wonderful item.

As the show got more woke, woodworking declined leaving them pushing products without a real plan, besides separating viewers from their money.

No longer do PBS shows employ older people as experts. Nowadays, virtually everyone on PBS shows are young woke adults.
Most of the businesses these young woke folks run are very short lived and gone almost as soon as the PBS show is gone.

The ones that do manage to make a farm work are not employing woke methods or delusions any longer. This usually occurs shortly after their woke customers chase the latest fads.

and the resulting lack of cogitative resources will not allow them to even ‘consider the problem of prion disease’.

2/ Which leads us on to the lovely Anja.
OK, maybe she herself is going through a rough patch in her personal life but are there no checks/balances, peer review or editorial control to stop such garbage going on air.

Especially as it’s labelled as ‘Knowledge’ How old are these people, shouldn’t they be at playschool, nursery or kindergarten or something. Even giving speeches at the UN would be ‘something’

Surely those sensible logical German people will not be taken in by this continuing mass of lies? When will the “ordinary folk” come to their senses and jointly acknowledge that this nonsense must stop? It is all based on a series of lies , perpetuated by those who benefit most from the perpetuation! No science to back up their stories – not even the hint of an explanation. People like Gore and Attenborough should be in jail, not permitted to continue their never-ending brainwashing of the populace!

For Germans who live near a lake, they can emit 3 kg of CO2 to raise 1 kg of worms. If the average worm weighs 20 grams, they can be used as bait to catch 50 fish, which would provide much more protein than the worms (depending on the size of the fish).

This was common knowledge among ten-year-old boys many years ago, who dug up “night crawlers” not to eat, but to use as fish bait. Back then, nobody worried about CO2, but only about the lake running out of fish.

Patently absurd!

Dry a slice of meat and you get beef jerky.
Dry worms and you get a miniscule fragment of worm.

I doubt cooking worms will work any better.

These quacks have transmogrified basic worm farm information into nonsense.

Perhaps next week, they’ll claim worms can be used to catch fish.
