Germany’s intensifying gas and energy crisis…
Into winter chaos without extending power plant operation
By Prof. Fritz Vahrenholt

There is another taboo law that the German federal government does not want to touch: the nuclear phase-out law. Most people in Germany have seen through the inane statements of the Green president of the Federal Network Agency, Klaus Müller, according to whom nuclear power plants do not generate heat and therefore do not help with the gas shortage.
But 14% of electricity comes from gas-fired power plants. We will only be able to replace two-thirds of the gas-fired power plants by ramping up reserve coal-fired power plants. In the end, eliminating three nuclear power plants means giving up a large part of this saving, because the electricity that is eliminated cannot be replaced in any other way than by gas-fired power plants.
Even the accelerated expansion of wind power and solar energy (which, by the way, only produces electricity) will not help. In order to replace the amount of electricity of the three running nuclear power plants arithmetically, one needs two thirds of the 2.2 million existing solar plants. In other words : to replace this amount of electricity, we need five to ten years to replace the resulting gap of about 35 TWh with new PV plants. And then we would still have no electricity at night.
Power company Evonik CEO Christian Kullmann vividly described the extent of the gas crisis: Imagine a train transporting gas that starts in Seville and ends in Frankfurt [1860 km], one wagon at a time the whole way. And he poses the question of how long the German chemical industry would be able to get by on this gas quantity. Mind you, only the chemical industry. Answer: 6 hours. It’s about 5.6 million jobs affected by the lack of natural gas. It is not about taking shorter showers.

As Hermann Hesse might have put it: Nur für verrückte
For Madmen Only.
Let them freeze their a…s in the dark, this coming winter, if German RE folks are that stupid.
It could be, they started disassembling these plants, to make sure they would not be restartable, as was done with Vermont Yankee in New England, a perfectly good plant that just had received a 20-y life extension
EU RE bureaucrats want nuclear and gas be declared CO2 acceptable, but German RE nut heads have been opposing it.
If Nuclear Plants “didn’t generate heat” then they wouldn’t need “Cooling Pools” for spent fuel rods and a “Melt Down” could never occur.
Dumb as a box of Socks full of Rocks
The only way to break the modern liberal vegan German’s infatuation with all things green, is for it to all fail catastrophically.
Bring it on.
Stop despairing, let’s have some fun instead

Macron to nationalise EDF as France faces up to threat of blackouts
The French Government has set out plans to nationalise struggling nuclear giant EDF as it tries to weather the escalating energy crisis.
Elisabeth Borne, French Prime Minister, said: “The climate emergency required strong, radical decisions. We need to have full control of the production and our energy future. We must ensure our sovereignty faced with the consequences of the war and the colossal challenges ahead.
“That is why I confirm today the intention of the state to hold 100pc of the capital of EDF.”
And so it begins. That’s the real end game isn’t it? Nationalize energy supply and use it as a stick against the people. Why not, it worked out so well for Venezuela.
The beginning of the move from Fascism to Socialism. How long before other industries such as freight hauling becomes nationalized?
Technocratic totalitarianism – at least fascism & socialism had their good points.
Not that I can think of any, right now…
I don’t really see the significance, EDF was already mostly state owned so not much is really going to change, except the shareholders get baled out. Too bad the taxpayers will be left footing the bill for inefficient, socialist ‘business’ practices.
Excellent comment Leo, however, they are in no way liberal in any sense of the word that shares its root with liberty.
They are as liberal as Lenin, and as tyrannical as Stalin
Redefining common words is essential to socialist/communist ideology.
Maybe it’s deliberate. The New World Order carrying out a cull?
Over 70 years of guilt has taken its toll. And when the [global] left are constantly accusing people of being ‘members of the NSDAP’, or having those views, and we even have ‘Godwin’s law’ etc. it isn’t going away any time soon.
It’s worse than Wilson’s 14 points.
When is their next election.
Let’s hear it from the people.

Are you playing the part of Brandon, confusing Switzerland with Sweden?
Someone has to be guilty. Here in the US the Democratic Party founded, funded, and provided logistical and legal support to the KKK for slightly over 100 years. The Ku Klux Klan (KKK) carried out deadly violence against Blacks, Jews – well, pretty much everyone who wasn’t White. Then the Democratic Party found they could control and keep Blacks in the ghettos just as effectively by promising them free stuff.
They also found they could now blame racism on White folk and conservatives. Win-win for the US Democratic Party.
More realistically, it signals that that the Greens are extracting the maximum price for conceding on the nukes and also that the SPD needs to pretend for a while to keep their voters from revolting.

Either that or Germany plans to appease Russia by November and needs the situation leading up to that “regrettable, unforeseen decision” to be so dire that other countries will “just have to understand”. In a choice of throwing Ukraine under the bus or having to impose rolling shutdowns of all German industry, which would you really expect them to choose?
With anything touching on the EU, it’s hard to be cynical enough.
IMO, it’s the Greens that are ‘revolting’.
And then we would still have no electricity at night.

Alinsky’s rules for radicals #4 –
“Make the enemy live up to their own rules.”
The German government doesn’t have to live up to their own rule book, that would be stupid. Unless of course their goal is the collapse of industrialized civilization, and it’s their responsibility to bring that about.
Word is getting around about German Energiewende-
Germany has ‘learnt its lesson’ as it looks to increase coal power (msn.com)
Also on MSN, I found yesterday but now gone, was story from some sort of ‘Union’ or ‘Confederation’ of German Industry
Basically they were saying that if something isn’t done soon, most of German industry is completely <F_expleted>
Steel, motor, aluminium, glass and all the other big users were gonna go out of business and remain so.
.
As seen ‘most everywhere, the Chinese would simply take everything over and by the time the Greens control the banks, nothing could ever be pulled from the ashes.
Bad things happen when there are a whole bunch of unemployed Germans.
This winter we’ll get to see how anti-nuclear Germany fairs compared to pro-nuclear France.
Fares, perhaps?
You got that right, Speed. It used to be French wine and German cars, now it will be French wine AND French cars.
That, or German car makers will just have to build some factories in France.
Which SHOULD tell Germany about how stupid their energy policies are.
I think France has much nicer fairs than Germany, anyway.
How Germany fares is another question entirely…
Or we can have more Belgium fairs, to enhance the spread of Monkey Pox.
France has the better wine but German car makers would rather move to Poland or Czech republic than France.
Whenever I see something written by one of the signatories of the World Climate Declaration I know it will be a sensible statement. We are certainly far from running out of oil and gas but seem to have run out of common sense in Western education and governments. To make matters worse those who call loudest for tollerance refuse to even begin to engage in a careful and logical discussion with climate dissenters.
Clintel’s succinct statement “There is no climate emergency” could not be a better short statement of the dissenting view. Those pushing the alarmist view need to sum up their position in a similar clear and brief statement of less than 400 words. These should form the basis for a frank discussion of the issues. However, I do not believe politicians, the media and activists would allow such an honest engagement.
What’s happening to Germany’s power supply is what Australia can look forward to in the next 3 years with the numbskull ALP in charge now.
yeah and the kiwi witch is right up albos keizer and “helping”
shes a young WEF grad splains a LOT
when reality comes to bite your bum?
It’s probably too late to keep the nuclear plants operating.
It takes years to buy nuclear fuel in normal markets. With global supply chain problems, who knows how much longer.
Cap has a good article today: https://electroverse.net/german-professor-climate-change-is-delusional-nonsense/
just came across this;

Oh, my god! The first of many Red Pills!
Blackouts and continued soaring energy costs are the only things that will change this insanity. Governments can hide costs with various schemes, but they can’t print electricity.
France and Russia are the real winners with these insane policies…great for France, catastrophic for Ukraine.
You realistically can’t forecast what kind of winter we will have in the Northern Hemisphere at this point but the global cooling that has taken place on average around the globe indicates it just might be one to remember.
With the exception of the temperate zone waters in the Pacific (both north and south), the ocean waters have cooled below “average”. The eastern North Atlantic is below normal as are the waters off Spain towards the US. In fact the only anomalously warmer waters are in the NW Atlantic and they are still cold in actual temperature. After the hurricane season these all could even be colder.
Temperatures above 80N as of this point are just at freezing on average, and the Sun angle starts dropping in earnest in just three more weeks. If we have an early start to cooling which is likely and a setup to pour Siberian and Arctic air in to northern Europe over most of the winter it’s going to be tough. Best of luck to the Germans. Solar won’t give you anything and large Arctic air masses only have wind on their edges.
well we just had the longest nastiest and freezingest spring I can remember, then suddenly came a whacking great heatwave.
When that north and east wind blows from Murmansk watch out!
It would be great to see what happens in Germany next January when it hits -20C blizzard comes and there’s no solar, or wind.
Oh wait it happened in 1941 with another hair brained chancellor….
“Elections have consequences.” –Barack Hussein Obama
Personally, I am confused as to why the USA remains a member of NATO. Given that the Europe seems to have voluntarily and willingly placed itself into energy subservience to Russia. What are we defending?
Replying to myself. In case anyone has forgotten this timeless classic (posted by the virulently anti-Trump Bloomberg News).
The best part of that video is the snarky bemused looks the ministers in the background are giving DJT for what is now eminently sound geopolitical advice.
does anybody know the names of the 5 snarky bureaucrat monkeys in the background?
It would be great if some journalist were to step up and ask them to reminisce about their reaction to the Trump statements.
It indeed would be great to see. ARE there any journalists?
Tell me again, why do we tolerate the membership of Austria and Germany in Euratom?
From the article:”…nuclear power plants do not generate heat…”.
Hey Klaus, if true then Germans should not be afraid of meltdowns.

Draft law shows Germany plans to revise key emissions target for energy sector (msn.com)
Sadly, sometimes the best way to find the bottom is to have your head under water.
People aren’t going to pay attention until the bottom is reached. If things are changed at a halfway point, a lot of people don’t learn the correct lesson.
As harsh as this sounds, long term it’s the best method.
I agree only harsh reality will serve to wake up the dreamers. But why should I have to suffer all the consequences of green actions when I have never believed the story?
According to Dave Fair, the majority has a right to do whatever they want, and if you disagree that’s just too bad for you.
We (the scientifically minded) may have to admit that not only does the Cult of Green want Luddite policy, but Nihilism (an impulse to destroy oneself because life has no meaning) also is at work.
Nihilism is part of the Cult of Green,
Self harm…. this is extremely dangerous… as a form of mass psychology.
It must be stopped for the sake of human survival.
It is said that men go mad in crowds, but only regain their sanity one by one.
What a Great! quote.
The UK has warned that ceramics, glass and steel production may have to close this winter .
Green politicians are mentally retarded.
Greenpoliticians are mentally retarded.FIFY but I will admit that green is a special kind of stupid.
Let it all fail and reset the system (thinking) later.
Trouble is that once it fails it becomes a damn sight harder to reset the system again.
