Vandalising, risking damage to irreplaceable artworks, because none of us have listened to their spoiled tantrums.
Just Stop Oil Paintings: Climate Activists Glue Themselves to Art by Van Gogh, Turner
Climate extremists from the Just Stop Oil group have glued themselves to artworks by Vincent van Gogh and William Turner, to blackmail the government into halting fossil fuel projects.
“Sorry everybody, we don’t wanna be doing this, we’re here glued to this painting, this beautiful painting, because we’re terrified for our future,” explained one of the protesters, apparently male, in a video published on social media by TalkTV showing him and a comrade glued to van Gogh’s Peach Trees In Blossom in London’s Courtauld Gallery.
“We’re here for a group called Just Stop Oil, we expect to be arrested today,” he went on, not seemingly particularly perturbed by the prospect — perhaps justifiably, given the authorities’ habit of simply releasing climate extremist protesters disrupting national infrastructure much more critical to the country than a painting, without pursuing serious charges.
…
“We’re here because the UK government is pushing through 40 new fossil fuel projects, and with every single project they sign it’s like signing our death warrant,” the activist went on, heedless of the fuel and energy independence crisis which has spurred the typically green-obsessed Prime Minister Johnson to action.
“For 30 years we’ve been outside Parliament with our banners and our flags, and for 30 years nothing has been done,” he added, perhaps somewhat dubiously considering his adolescent appearance.

Video of the attack on art (h/t Breitbart);
This “for 30 years nothing has been done” is a common theme of climate extremists, but they really have been warning us for 30 years.
Like this 1989 gem of a climate warning from the United Nations, which gave us “a 10-year window of opportunity to solve the greenhouse effect before it goes beyond human control” – a time window which expired in the year 2000.
Of course the counter argument to the green 30 year claim is 30 years of ridiculous apocalyptic climate warnings and 10 year deadlines, and nothing bad has happened.

There is a direct inverse correlation between the absolute number of these bullies, freaks, malcontents, losers, vandals, looters, and power grubbers and the liberty of normal people. The welfare state that supports and subsidizes their stupidity is the antithesis of Darwinian selection, ensuring the continued existence and propagation of its clients—the weakest and worst of the species.
I suspect that they each have a bottle of solvent in their pocket to use with their free hand when they need a bathroom call
Preserve the paint. Cut off their fingers. PS I like the bright orange petroleum based colored shirts.
It’s not just “nothing bad has happened,” it’s that every single prophesy they have touted has failed, none of the models their priests put forward match reality and the recent lockdowns have PROVED, beyond doubt, that human CO2 activity has minusculy greater than 0 effect on the planet.
2 years of reduced activity and you literally cannot see the effect in the Mauna Loa data.
a) They have made themselves a captive audience. This is a great opportunity for climate realists to go in, set up a computer, show them videos and lecture them about why they are wrong.
b) With one hand glued to the frame, they wouldn’t be able to defend themselves well if someone decided to slap some sense into them.
c) Somewhere an “oil-free” prison should be built for these people: a caged area where absolutely nothing has had any connection to fossil fuels. Let them see how they like living like cavemen for three months.
But they are using petroleum-based products to glue themselves….
Furthermore, petroleum-based distillates will be used to dissolve the glue.
If you shut down oil nearly all transportation will come to a screeching halt. Tractors used in agriculture won’t run. Trucks used to deliver food to stores won’t run. People will starve. Vehicles used to get people to their jobs won’t run. The economy will collapse. About half of US homes are heated by fossil fuels. Those homes will be unheated and people will freeze to death in their own homes. These idiots who are glued to the paintings should be held accountable for the deaths.
In France they glued to the road and a policeman just raised them without much regard :-))))))))
Way back on 24 Feb 1979, “The Australian” newspaper kindly published yet another of my many letters to the Editor. Here is part of it:
“You quote Mr. E. Hegerl of the
Australian Littoral Society as saying:
“Some Queensland Cabinet ministers
would be capable of using the Mona Lisa
for kindling a fire on a cold night.”
Somehow, this is part of Mr. Hegerl’s
attempt to stop oil exploration in the
seas of Queensland. The Littoral
Society cares about clean water.
Strange.
The Mona Lisa, Mr. Hegerl,
is an oil painting, not a water
colour.”
Oh look, they’ve got the T-shirts and everything. I don’t suppose any planet-killing methods were used to make those.
“We expect to be arrested.”
A major contributor to this and similar problems is that for most activists “getting arrested” is a trivial inconvenience.
They will face a magistrate who will immediately release them for a hearing and at worst they will be given a minimal fine or sentenced to community service for a week or two; the leniency because they acted on behalf of a “just cause”.
Gandhi, Mandela, MLK all knw that their arrests for civil disobedience would result in substantial jail and prison time.
He’s been arrested multiple times and already spent 3 months in prison, which appears to have only encouraged him. A longer stretch in a more punitive establishment might help focus his mind onto what is important and what is fecking stupid.
Take the picture off the wall. Remove painting. Return frame and hands to wall. Set up a 24-hour guard. No bathroom breaks. No coffee breaks. No meals. No chairs. A day or two of confinement may do for galleries what the law is too stupid to do. Then charge them for the guards and for all costs related to restoring frame. A little humiliiation can do wonders for these enlightened Wunderkinder.
They would make nice ornaments in the gulag compounds of western China.
Frames get repaired/refinished all of the time. They’re not the painting itself.
Call France and ask for some Gendarme assistance.
Then fine the terrorists the full cost of repairing the frame’s finish and all gendarme expenses coupled with severe financial penalties against the terrorists and their supporters.
Leave 1 guard on duty , turn off the lights and go home .There is no requirement to give them anything including water . See how long they can stand there , they can’t reach the floor ! When they do give up charge them with vandalism and the full cost of repairs to the frame plus all other costs of removal . Sorted !
Knock ’em out, remove the paintings from the frames, and then use a sawzall to remove their hands from the frame. And then superglue some ping-pong balls on their asses and dump them in the river..
Rip their grubby little hands off the paintings. Hopefully it will leave large chunks of skin behind. Having to actually suffer some consequences would do wonders for these useless brats.
Was the glue produced from petroleum? Will the solvent be a petroleum derivative? Just asking.
