Vandalising, risking damage to irreplaceable artworks, because none of us have listened to their spoiled tantrums.
Just Stop Oil Paintings: Climate Activists Glue Themselves to Art by Van Gogh, Turner
Climate extremists from the Just Stop Oil group have glued themselves to artworks by Vincent van Gogh and William Turner, to blackmail the government into halting fossil fuel projects.
“Sorry everybody, we don’t wanna be doing this, we’re here glued to this painting, this beautiful painting, because we’re terrified for our future,” explained one of the protesters, apparently male, in a video published on social media by TalkTV showing him and a comrade glued to van Gogh’s Peach Trees In Blossom in London’s Courtauld Gallery.
“We’re here for a group called Just Stop Oil, we expect to be arrested today,” he went on, not seemingly particularly perturbed by the prospect — perhaps justifiably, given the authorities’ habit of simply releasing climate extremist protesters disrupting national infrastructure much more critical to the country than a painting, without pursuing serious charges.
…
“We’re here because the UK government is pushing through 40 new fossil fuel projects, and with every single project they sign it’s like signing our death warrant,” the activist went on, heedless of the fuel and energy independence crisis which has spurred the typically green-obsessed Prime Minister Johnson to action.
“For 30 years we’ve been outside Parliament with our banners and our flags, and for 30 years nothing has been done,” he added, perhaps somewhat dubiously considering his adolescent appearance.

Video of the attack on art (h/t Breitbart);
This “for 30 years nothing has been done” is a common theme of climate extremists, but they really have been warning us for 30 years.
Like this 1989 gem of a climate warning from the United Nations, which gave us “a 10-year window of opportunity to solve the greenhouse effect before it goes beyond human control” – a time window which expired in the year 2000.
Of course the counter argument to the green 30 year claim is 30 years of ridiculous apocalyptic climate warnings and 10 year deadlines, and nothing bad has happened.

I don’t like oil paintings either.
Dare do it in the Louvre?

If the U.K. we’re a shariah law country they would be Unhanded for attempted art theft
“Unhand me you swarthy oaf!…Oh, wait!”
What stop at just one hand, they could still repeat their attempt
They tried in France to do the roadway glue thing and French gendarmes just ripped their hands off the bitumen – man, did they scream like little babies! 😀
We’ve got to stop being soft on these spoiled brats – clearly their parents failed miserably in their upbringing by being too pissant to impose any kind of discipline so now it’s up to the real world to do it.
They have to learn to control their tantrums before they get to anything like a position of power or the human race is dead.
Just leave them there. Easier than telling them to go sit in a corner.
Very few glues or inks stay stuck to human skin. They’ll peel off the frames easily in a few days.
Given them buckets to stand in. Then, when they’re freed, they can carry out their own mess on their way to terrorism court.
I just had that thought. Why dissolve the glue? Jaws of life them from the painting.
Why do anything? Just let them stand there. Offer them lots of water and maybe a Taco Bell taco or something but let them know that if they try to remove the painting from the wall they’ll be nailed for attempted theft.
Go one further. Make them part of the exhibit. Place a sign (out of their reach) that’s titled “fools errand”.
When the guy attached himself to the goal post, someone should have added a few more ties and played the game around him.
It’s the same guy – the ‘woman’ is a new addition though. Just think – if they’d left him on the goal post he wouldn’t have been able to glue himself to a painting! Apparently he’s also been on ‘Insulate Britain’ protests – it seems he’s not picky about the cause, as long he gets to do some mindless publicity stunt.
You damned watercolor fanatic!
😁
Radical Watercolourists Demand No New Oil Paintings
London, June 30 –
Two activists from the radical watercolourist group Just Stop Oil Paintings today glued themselves to Van Gogh’s Perzikbomen in bloei, Peach Trees in Blossom, in the University of London’s Courtauld Gallery.
One of the two, who was described as apparently male, made clear the protest’s purpose in a statement to bewildered onlookers.
“Sorry everybody, we don’t want to be doing this, we’re here glued to this oil painting, because we’re terrified for our future. We just can’t go on working in oils.”
“We’re here for a group called Just Stop Oil Paintings, and we expect to be arrested today. Hopefully the cops will come quite soon, because I don’t think I should have had that coffee before we came in.”
“We’re here because the UK government is pushing through 40 new art grants for oil-based projects, and with every single project they sign it’s like signing the watercolourists’ death warrant,” he went on.
When a heckler pointed out that the attacked painting was 130 years old and had nothing to do with new art projects, the activist responded furiously.
“That’s the point, you idiot! For 130 years we’ve been outside Parliament with our banners and our flags demanding the government stop new oil paintings, and for 130 years the government have ignored us, fuelled by constant disinformation propagated by the evil oil painting lobby!”
“You look about twelve,” someone said. “So you can hardly have been protesting about oil paintings since 1892.”
At this point the activist’s co-conspirator spoke up. “In any case, we can’t keep looking at all these old paintings by dimbulb privileged neurotypical white cis 19th-century male oil painters. We need to get this rubbish down and get some of my felt work up in its place.”
An octogenarian gallery-goer snorted that describing Van Gogh as neurotypical was way off the mark and displayed the activist’s complete lack of knowledge of the subject.
“This is a Van Gogh?” the activist asked, startled.
The activists were later freed by security before any accidents happened and were immediately arrested by attending officers.
A police spokesperson said that the watercolourists had already been released and that no further action would be taken.
Right, oil and gas paintings must be stopped!
What they should be terrified of is what would happen if oil and gas actually was stopped!!
See Sri Lanka
Yeah, they’d last about 48 hours in a world without fossil fuels, which is only about 24 hours less than the average city dweller.
PotentialBabylonBeeHeadline™: “Artists mourn the global warming mitigation-mandated death of the oil paintings industry”
They’ve sprayed graffiti on an extremely nice wooden floor, using oil based products, glued themselves to a picture frame, no doubt damaging it in the process. They’re wearing clothes, shoes and a rucksack made with and using oil based products.
These people are so stupid and ignorant(lacking knowledge or awareness in general; uneducated or unsophisticated) it hurts and are a sad reflection on education in the UK
Unfortunately there is no cure for stupid..
There is. Some may not want to hear it.
The procedure was perfect but unfortunately the patient……….
Sure there is. Leave their stupid asses stuck there. They won’t do it again.
I had a similar thought. In any case, people are becoming fed up.
I see this took place at ‘London’s Courtauld Gallery’, where I’m sure 99 44/100% of the staff and clientele probably agrees with these clowns. Maybe the thing to do would be to unglue them and then re-glue them to the bar in a biker hangout.
If you work in an art gallery and agree with someone damaging a priceless piece of the collection then……..
Glue their foreheads to the bar.
I agree. Let them start crying for food and water. In a short time they will soil themselves in front of everyone.
Sure there is. Some are dispensed in the form of
That’s indoctrination in the UK…
Yep, they should have glued themselves completely nude, as you said not realizing everything they wore is made with oil including eyeglasses. Can’t fix ignorance as well as stupid!
I’m sure THE GLUE is also made from petroleum products!
If you are British and if it can act as a lenient: it is “a sad reflection on education” in many other “developed” countries, not only in the UK.
Looks like they’re coming unglued by getting glued.
They are so stupid they don’t even know every carbon atom in their bodies are from CO2.
They are neither particularly stupid nor ignorant. They are merely cheeky.
All this pathetic show, just like every similar circus before it, is the modern variation of inbred, drunk aristocrats whizzing on a crowd from the balcony and giggling. And will probably end the same way this time. Okay, cheeky and short-sighted, then.
They really are practicing the “Art of stupidity” !
“For 30 years we’ve been outside Parliament with our banners and our flags, and for 30 years nothing has been done,”
And for 30 years nothing has changed climatically.
“And for 30 years nothing has changed climatically.”
That is the most important part. I wish more people would point that out.
I wish more people would point out the real life consequences of stopping oil production. That would an eye opener to them.
Get the french cops to deal to this
Nah, that would damage the picture frame. The best approach is to apply a tourniquet (to prevent blood splatter), and cut off the hand.
Van Gogh would be impressed.
I hear you
What?
Van Gogh only cut off an ear.
Wh..?
Unhand that priceless artwork
They are liars. They have not been protesting for 30 years as they don’t appear 30 years old. Probably conditioned by fanatical, ignorant schoolteachers.
Exactly. They have been brainwashed.
No to oil painting
oh the irony!
“(With climate) Anything can happen, but it usually doesn’t”- Robert Benchley.
D*ckheads.
NO!
The said “heads” at least have a FUNCTION! A useful function!
They should be left where they are until they wet themselves or preferably til they starve
Yup. That’s my preferred approach, fretslider.
–
Put up some stanchions – no help or sandwiches from compatriots – and make them part of the exhibit for a while.
–
Odds are there would be someone in the crowd who would point out the oil in the grafitti, the painting, and their clothes and start in with some pointed ridicule. I’d imagine the ridicule would catch on with others in the crowd and there would be some good old-fashioned humiliation meted out.
–
The ‘leave them in place’ approach for those who glue themselves to various places is like they put themselves in stocks to be ridiculed in public. much as it was done in days of yore. Enterprising kids could set up nearby and sell rotten vegetables.
–
A good time would be had by all except by the idiots who did it to themselves.
Not to mention that the oil used in painting comes from pressed linseeds not petroleum.
This is a discussion dominated by ignorance, and objective reality is not welcome.
guess skin would give before aged wood would?
use the french solution! rip em off
vegetable and whale oil paintings….

Leave them there for 24 hours – perhaps put the painting on the floor so they can sleep. Give them nothing to eat or drink. Give them a commode each. Then free them somehow, arrest them and charge them with criminal misconduct.
My bet is they won’t do it again – and neither will their mates.
“Give them a commode each.” and put the painting on the floor so they can sleep
Why? Anyone can last 24 hours with no sleep (especially with loud noises). Don’t mollycoddle them.
Yup, Disputin. Just leave them ’til the glue gives way or they rip themselves free.
I pointed out above that this is a wonderful opportunity for ridicule while they are stuck there.
Leave them there with plenty of water laced with a laxative. They’ll find a way to move on their own.
andy, you are showing way to much compassion.
no to moving the painting,
no to giving them a commode.
no help from fellow knuckle heads.
just let then stand.
cameras rolling.
The easy indoctrination of youth and their lack of experience we can understand.
Kids do dumb things.
What is less understandable is how a multi billionaire mature individual and there are many, why do they support these loons in their public displays of stupidity?
tbey don’t appear to be 30 years of age.
They don’t even have an IQ of 30
He’s 21, arrested several times, 3 months in prison so far; she’s 24, no convictions at this time but probably due to change quite soon. 10 years each should be about right, I reckon.
I think that this may be an example of performance art by two artists who are pretending to be climate activists. The only other possible explanation I can think of is that climate activists are demonstrating that they are halfwits.
Why couldn’t they glue themselves to a Picasso or some other garbage?
Fanatics throughout history have targeted art works …The Inquisition’s friars Maoist cadres Nazi brownshirts Sunni and Shia Islamist militants and now brainwashed radical environmentalists who seem to believe stunts like this might raise awareness of a mythical ‘climate crisis ‘
“apparently male”
Isn’t that how every guy hopes to be described?
In this case perhaps more appropriately ‘accidentally male’
How’s about a swift kick to the ‘nads to check!
Er……. Eric, pls check your numbers, isn’t it more like 50 years of apocalyptic warnings??
The apocalypse is always nigh, only the reason changes… 😉
The oil used in the artworks since centuries isn’t a fossil oil, but a very natural one extracted from flaxseeds.
So fossils are unnatural, got it.
You mean vegetable oil rather than mineral oil, right? Both being ‘natural’ as it were.
Failure to send them to herding sheep in the Falklands is why they feel free to be yahoos.
Dear God, what have the people of the Falkland Islands ever done to you? Send them to the Sandwich Islands – they’re uninhabited.
What’s the hourly pay rate and benefit package? Surely they have unionized by now or is this still scabs.
The French police have a proper way of dealing with those who glue themselves to public property. They do not use solvent, they simply pull them off. That ought to be the rule everywhere.
As Bob Ross would say, “Beat the Devil out of them.”

The human population has grown in prosperity and health over the last 200 years like no other time in all of our history, and that is all as a consequence of the burning coal, oil and gas.
