h/t The Blaze; Introducing your new government; NYT is celebrating the appointment of visionaries like Dr. Cecilia Martinez to Biden’s climate team. But Martinez has some interesting ideas of why climate action has made so little progress to date.
First the NYT piece praising Biden’s new team;
A ‘Nerve Center’ for Climate in the Biden White House
President Joseph R. Biden Jr. brings with him the largest team of climate change experts ever assembled in the White House, and action on global warming is expected quickly.

Updated Jan. 21, 2021WASHINGTON — Joseph R. Biden Jr. assumed the presidency on Wednesday, bringing an expansive team of climate change experts to staff a White House that is preparing to focus on global warming in a way no other administration has done before.
Mr. Biden enters office with the largest team ever assembled inside the White House to tackle global warming and has installed policy experts at the State Department as well as the National Security Council, the president’s top advisory body for all foreign policy decisions. The Treasury Department, the Transportation Department and the office of Vice President Kamala Harris all will have dedicated climate policy staff, with more hires expected in the coming days throughout the government.

Cecilia Martinez, a prominent advocate for addressing racial inequality in environmental policies, will serve as senior director for environmental justice at the Council on Environmental Quality. Tarak Shah, a former Energy Department official under Mr. Obama is also expected to be chief of staff to Jennifer Granholm, the nominee to be Energy Secretary.

What Cecilia had to say about systemic racism and climate change;
Dr. Cecilia Martinez, Executive Director and Co-Founder of the Center for Earth, Energy and Democracy
“For too long, systemic racism and injustice have disproportionately exposed economically disadvantaged communities, tribal communities, and communities of color to the highest levels of toxic pollution. As the current COVID-19 crisis demonstrates, the interconnection between environmental and health risks has created crisis conditions for communities already battling toxic pollution that causes respiratory and other illnesses. Unless intentionally interrupted, systemic racism will continue to be a major obstacle to creating a healthy planet. The only path forward is to design national climate policies that are centered on justice. CEED welcomes the Select Committee’s climate policy report, which is centered on equitable climate solutions that will build an inclusive, just and pollution-free economy that works for all people. The report supports many of the policy priorities in the Equitable and Just National Climate Platform, including ensuring a healthy climate and air quality for all, and access to reliable, affordable, and sustainable electricity, water, and transportation for every community. In particular, CEED welcomes the report’s recommendations to ensure that all communities share the benefits of expanded investment in energy efficiency improvements and renewable energy and a prosperous and vibrant clean economy.”

The house committee plan Cecilia praised is available here.
Cecilia appeared on Time Magazine’s 2020 list of the 100 most influential people.
It will be fascinating to see how Cecilia progresses her ideas for eliminating systemic racism, to drive forward climate action. No doubt the efforts of Cecilia and other members of Biden’s team will produce newsworthy hi-lights in the years to come.
ironically her assumptions about whites are the very definition of racist … much more of this and people might start thinking women of color can be ignorant racists … even ones with “Dr” in front of their names …
How often do we read of officials able to influence climate policies in various countries having partners who are already tagged as extremists?
In the more frequent celebrity cases the partner is female by admission or appearance.
How many more are there acting quietly without publicity?
Is there a newish faction in society giving us fresh ulcers lately?
If there is, how do we cater for it?
“A lie doesn’t become truth, wrong doesn’t become right, and evil doesn’t become good, just because it’s accepted by a majority.”

In plain English – this woman’s hypothesis lacks any semblance of intellect, reality or common sense.
I could use even plainer English, but that would be just rude.
Ok, the new look website is waaaaay too heavy on advertising. Just now I got a pop-up asking me if I want to invest in carbon credits. Can you please dial back the ads a bit, or at least let google know that this is not the demographic for shilling carbon credits?
IMO
I think sooner rather than later the Biden Administration will make a really stupid policy decision that even the majority of Democrats will be shocked at. I was the thinking something like closing a nuclear power plant which then caused immediate blackouts.
However, sadly I think it could be worse.
If Biden employs nuffy decision makers like this to run intelligence or military, the World could be in real trouble.
I really wanted to comment, but I just can’t find any words. It’s beyond my capacity to imagine what the world looks like to this nutbar.
“Cecilia appeared on Time Magazine’s 2020 list of the 100 most influential people.”
Never heard of her.
When was the last time you read Time? I know.
And here was I thinking that Trump was a fruitloop who appointed a load of fruitloops to his government. He was just an amateur idiot compared with this guy
Makes Trump look, sound and act like any other regular Joe Public by comparison doesn’t it?
The US is presently trying to win the prize for the most regressive government on the planet and thus the laughing stock of the entire world. The fiasco of November 3rd 2020 is not going to end well for the world. That much incompetence, stupidity, spite and hate, not to mention open corruption, unleashed on the world might turn 2021 into a worse mess than 2020.
MIGHT? What do you mean, might? I really don’t think there’s any need to sugar coat this. Expect resources allocated by obscure woke principles, vaccines allocated along racial and gender lines and all manner of interesting times. 4 years is really going to seem like a life sentence in the Neue Republik.
White people reduce the planet’s albedo while black folks increase it. So people of colour are warming the planet. All environmentally conscious people of colour will follow the example of the late environmental visionary Michael Jackson and whiten their skin.
OK other way round (albedo)
I presume that there is a typo in the first line of Lisa Friedman’s article: surely expensive, not expansive?
Rachel Levine, needs more transgendering – she still looks like Richard Levine. She manages to be as stupid as she is ugly.

its god SAVE america
oh boy you have 4 yrs of this?? and worse to come;-(
Systemic cognitive desease.
Thanks for the Two Minutes Hate for today. MOving on…
Th next extinction event is likely t be American jobs.
Thank God I never went back to get my PhD, it would have cost me 100+ IQ points!! But I could have been qualified to be on Joe’s team. I thought criminals were smarter than this.
“It will be fascinating to see how Cecilia progresses her ideas for eliminating systemic racism, to drive forward climate action”
Does that mean looting is fine but no more burning at the racial justice demos?
Whenever Leftists put an adjective before the word “justice”, “justice” actually means revenge:
racial justice= racial revenge
economic justice= economic revenge
social justice= social revenge
climate justice= a climate myth used to obtain economic/political/social revenge
CAGW has always been a Leftist political phenomenon, not a physical one. it’s simply one of many Leftist tools designed to destroy capitalism and functioning societies to impose Neo-Marxism on a global scale.
As the proverb says, if you go on a journey of revenge, dig two graves.
Ayn Rand called these “anti-concepts” – concepts designed to destroy the meaning of the root concept. Thus, racial justice, economic justice, etc are concepts designed to destroy actual justice.
I think she was right.
So … she thinks that the Chinese are racists because they pollute more than Africans ?
Does she not realize how much that will piss Joe off ?
The name of the game here is to create an artificial energy shortage which produces higher energy prices on less energy production.
It’s a consciously designed policy where both the government and the energy corporations cooperate behind the scenes to manipulate the energy markets in ways which maximize their share of the action while promoting a public image of environmental responsibility.
We should expect to see an increasing number of environmental regulations being placed on all fossil fuel energy production facilities. The added regulations will reduce the supply of carbon fuels while increasing their price. The new regulations will be designed in such a way as to insure that carbon taxes and corporate profits either remain the same or even expand.
The energy consumer will pay the bill. If the government’s public relations campaign is successful, everyone will be happy to know that when they are paying a larger fraction of their income for using less and less energy, they are doing their part to save the planet.
Two back-to-back sentences from Cecilia Martinez’s statement quoted in the above article: “Unless intentionally interrupted, systemic racism will continue to be a major obstacle to creating a healthy planet. The only path forward is to design national climate policies that are centered on justice.”
Notice the sleight-of-hand trick performed right there. She conflated all previous discussion about environmental health concerns and racism into the need to address climate change. That simply does not compute.
I never knew until reading this article that climate possessed the human traits/concepts of justice or injustice. Maybe Martinez’s Council on Environmental Quality will henceforth summon Mother Nature to stand before a grand jury on charges of endangering select groups of hominids (the racism and injustice parts) for at least the last million years or so by allowing a variable climate on Earth. The penalty might be as high as forfeiture of all tropical storms for the next 100 years.
In addition, Martinez makes the claim—scientifically unproven, to the best of my knowledge—that human susceptibility to contracting the COVID-19 virus is directly correlated to exposure to “toxic pollution.”
Sure, let’s “follow the science”, Joe. Great early pick!
She looks much like Alfred E. Neuman from Mad Magazine fame! It’s a mad Mad world 2.0 driving full speed into reality.
I think systemic racism will be easier to measure than anthropogenic CO2’s effects, well least the math will be easier.
