Democrats fly to Madrid to conceal Paris Agreement’s colossal failure from Americans

Guest essay by Larry Hamlin

Democratic Party House Speaker and U.S. climate alarmist chief czar Nancy Pelosi along with selected Democrat alarmist schemers flew to Madrid to make a political appearance at the latest UN junket that like all prior UN climate junkets will fail yet again.

The Wall Street Journal addressed this appearance by Pelosi in an excellent article that characterized her visit as a complete waste of time.

Regarding Pelosi’s totally political and idiotic claim that the U.S. is “still in” the Paris Agreement the Journal noted the following:

“President Trump didn’t jet off to Madrid for this week’s United Nations climate klatsch, but Nancy Pelosi brought a congressional delegation—and a message. “By coming here,” she proclaimed at a news conference, “we want to say to everyone: We’re still in. The United States is still in.”

A month ago the Trump Administration gave the U.N. its formal notice to withdraw from the Paris climate accord. Now Mrs. Pelosi is saying that . . . we’ll always have Paris? The House Speaker is third in the presidential line of succession. Mrs. Pelosi would have to impeach and remove both Mr. Trump and Vice President Mike Pence before she got the power to commit—or recommit—the U.S. to international agreements.”

The Journal provided a concise reminder of how inept both the proceedings and outcome of the Paris Agreement process was by noting:

“As a reminder, the Paris deal from the start was impotent, little more than a pep rally for bien-pensants. Countries submitted voluntary pledges to cut emissions, but without having any realistic plans in place to get there. Not that it mattered, since the accord included no enforcement mechanism.

China, which pumps out more CO2 than the U.S. and European Union combined, agreed that its emissions would peak in 2030. Even that target now is in doubt, as Beijing expands coal-fired electricity. Today China has 148 gigawatts of coal power generation “either under active construction or under suspension and likely to be revived,” according to a report last month from the nonprofit Global Energy Monitor. That is “nearly equal to the existing coal power capacity of the European Union (150 GW).”

Additionally the Journal noted the significant CO2 emissions reductions achieved by the U.S. under the Trump Administration support for increased fracking of natural gas that has enabled a lower cost effective and higher fuel efficiency replacement of coal fuel power plants with natural gas plants.

“The U.S. is moving away from coal, thanks to inexpensive natural gas from shale. CO2 emissions from burning fossil fuels for electricity peaked in 2007, per data from the Environmental Protection Agency. By 2017, the latest year in the EPA’s data, emissions had dropped about 28% and were 5% lower than in 1990. Overall U.S. emissions of CO2 fell about 14% in a decade, yet the leading Democratic presidential contenders want to ban shale drilling for natural gas.”

China the world’s leader in global CO2 emissions and coal fuel use is attending the Madrid UN climate junket even though it has announced that it is increasing its future commitment to coal fuel and backing down from costly inefficient renewable energy mandates.

Even Japan home of the failed decades old Kyoto climate agreement is attending the junket and has announced that it will continue to use coal fuel to meet its future energy needs.

The world’s developing nations will continue increased future use and growth of fossil fuels as they have in the past as noted below while the globally incompetent and defunct Paris Agreement gathers dust in the trash bin.

The Democratic Party has concealed and suppressed from the American people the success of U.S. energy policy in significantly reducing its CO2 emissions through cost effective and efficient substitution of natural gas for coal and further tried to deny the overwhelming dominance of the world’s developing nations in controlling global energy use and resulting emissions.

President Trump talked about crafting an agreement that would be fair to the American people. Most Americans would not think it fair to let the biggest CO2 emitters to continue to emit while America is forced to sacrifice.

Every American needs to understand what is being demanded.

“If there was something that was decided internationally by some more centralized procedure and every country was told ‘this is your emission target, it’s not negotiable, we can actually take military measures if you don’t fulfill it’, then you would basically have to get that down the throat of your population, whether they like it or not,” he says.”

If that doesn’t scare the Hell out of the youngsters in the US who advocate Socialism and Globalism I don’t know what will.

The big question the youngsters don’t understand is just whodecides “internationally”- an unelected Central Council (like AOC or the Extinction Rebellion advocate) or an “equal” vote of the 192 nations in the UN.

What the US houses should do, in the name of the looming “Climate Crisis”, (even Trump utilizing Executive Powers) is pass legislation eliminating international Air Travel for ALL Senators/Congressmen. Domestic travel should be viewed differently as these would be generally shorter and would be required to travel between their constituency and their government seats.
Representative governance still requires occasional face to face with those you represent

Nice and concise article.
I especially like the photo of the former beautiful mountains, now rendered a disgrace and not exactly mountains to go hiking and enjoy wildlife. On top of that, the Chinese still need to produce base power, so the solar panels are just a needless and costly evil.
If the Chines are really smart, they should sell these mountain solar PVs for a climate smart price to the EU north of latitude 50°. It will give them more capital for new coal power plants at home and in Africa. /NOT-SARC

Palm Springs was once a beautiful desert oasis for the rich and famous. Now it is an ugly eyesore with wind turbines everywhere. And when I drove through that area, 90% were not operational.

Dr. Bob
It has been my experience that while driving across the country, even while the wind is blowing, it appeared that there were more wind turbines idle than there were working. I too find them an eyesore. It seems a poor bargain to have the scenery ruined by so many non-working turbines.

Communists sure like to have meetings. And they just LOVE to talk. How much CO2 is generated by all these commie confabs, I wonder? In the era of Google Duo and WebEx, why do these commie confabs need to happen at all? Seems like a huge waste of time and money to me.

Nations will talk the talk until it becomes clear that walking the walk will involve a shortfall in available energy for their consumers. Having to use candles in the 21st century would almost certainly see a reaction at the ballot box.

Thats the ultimate protection we have against the Blob, the better than 60% of any population that dont follow either side of the story, but a sure to turn ornery should any government pay more than lip service to what is a bogus emergency 🙂

Look at China, a so called “” Developing country”” thus able to emit as much CO2 as it wants till 203, and by then they will again mo the goalposts.

It has a very large military, with a big navy and air parts of the PLA.

It has the atom bomb plus both nuclear & coal power stations. And a space programme able to put satillites into orbit.

No way is it a poor 3rd World nation.

It has a lot of billionairs and millioneers, plus a big and well off Middle Class. Yes they do have about a quarter of poor people, but that is changing.

Now look at 1900 London and the UK as a whole. A similar mix of incomes, and despite that it was a World super power.

Its about time we demanded via the UN that we changed this nonsence of the so called 3rd World countries, with India and China first to join the once rich 1st World countries.

By GDP, China is number 2 after the US as the world’s largest economy, and India is number 6. Hard to understand why they would be classed as “developing countries.”

San Fran Nan is running off to Spain and COP25 before she finished her homework. Not that impeachment nonsense, the USMCA Trade Agreement. That’s right, school children behave more responsibly than the third in line for the Presidency. She will be amongst friends in Spain, you know, the elite that know the right way to spend your money.

December 4, 2019 4:08 am

And just how much of her own money did Nancy spend to go to Spain? (Answer: None. She spent YOUR money.) Why am I not surprised?

Presumably, Nancy Pelosi and her entourage flew to Madrid on a scheduled commercial flight….

Thought not.

The whole thing is a sick joke. Except it isn’t funny.

(1) We never joined the Paris agreement. President Obama was aware the Paris agreement would never be ratified by the Senate so he never submitted it for ratification to the Senate. He just pretended like it was some kind of treaty. It is not legally binding in the United States.

(2) For all the brave talk by the governments in Europe, Canada, and Australia, as near as I can see the United States is apparently the only country in the world that actually reduced it carbon dioxide production. And the reduction was because it was cheaper to burn fracked natural gas than coal and had nothing to do with global warming.

(3) There is no F*** global warming!!!!! Global warming is a lie. Like soylent green. It was thirty degrees F this morning in Chicago. Where is this global warming? I don’t see it. After thirty years of talk, tipping points, movies, wise commentators, foreign aid, and dooms day forecasts global warming is still about as real Nancy Pelosi’s common sense.

“nonpredicted storm” What does that say about weather prediction in general? It is my experience that false negatives are rarer than false positives when predicting precipitation.

Clyde, all I can tell you is that it literally blew up out of nowhere, came in off Lake Michigan, and dumped enough rain on Wrigley Field to stop the game. Remember, there was supposed to be a curse involving a goat on the Cubbies, which was finally broken!.

But that storm itself was NOT in the forecast for the evening weather.

Hey Marty don’t be too down on Australia, we (the peasants) don’t want solar and wind either. But we’re still part of the Paris agreement, our Prime Minister must think CC is real. It’s likely to be the downfall of our country.

You may not hear much negative CC discussion from our part of the world, but that’s because the MSM have strangled us.

Funny how they conflate “market based mechanisms” and “carbon markets”. See, a market mechanism would be one where the market sets the terms, and a willing seller and a willing buyer reach an equitable agreement on the worth of an item. A carbon market is neither. where an outside authority has forced and imposed a capriciously arbitrary price of an unwanted and unnecessary product on both the buyer and seller. The exact opposite of market mechanisms. Proving I suppose that George Orwell was predictive rather than satirical when he invented Newspeak.

We are currently facing a potential climate emergency . . . but all the heads-in-the-sand bureaucrats attending the Madrid Climate Conference, together with the CAGW proponents have totally missed this.

Just look at the Sun’s image under “Solar Images & Data Page” link on the right side of this webpage. The Sun has been essentially in this mostly-sunspot-free, “quiet” state for the latter portion of current sunspot cycle 24, which still has an estimated 1-2 years remaining. And cycle 25 is predicted to be even more “quiet” overall than cycle 24.

There is historical precedent, the lead-in to the Dalton Minimum (ca 1800-1820), which included “the year without a summer”, that this MIGHT be a harbinger of Earth beginning to enter another interval of extended cold during summer months, worse than that of the Little Ice Age.

If so, the climate emergency that all the world governments should be preparing for is rapid global cooling and a cold period that might last 20 years or more.

History shows that many more people across the globe die from cold than from heat. Also, food crops grow better in warm environments than in cool environments.

An interesting take on this possibility, with sunspot-cycle comparison overlays can be found at,1192832

As as US Senator, Pelosi has no authority to officially speak on behalf of the US Government nor commit the US to any agreement or treaty. Those things are reserved for the President, and even he/she must get the Senate to confirm actual treaties. This is a minor abuse of power, but if it were DJT, there would be an uproar over it.

What would happen if, for some reason, Pelosi’s passport were revoked and she had to go to the local Embassy to get it replaced … and it took months to straighten out???
