‘We have lost Australia for now,’ warns climate scientist in wake of election upset

The unexpected victory of conservatives in Australia’s election is bad news for the future of global climate action.

JOE ROMM MAY 18, 2019, 3:27 PM

“Australians elected someone who once brought a lump of coal into Parliament urging us to dismiss the warnings from climate scientists, and to dig up more coal instead,” Professor Stephan Lewandowsky, an Australian cognitive scientist, told ThinkProgress in an email. “There is little doubt that his government will do precisely that.”

We have lost Australia for now,” warned Penn State climatologist Michael Mann in an email.  “A coalition of a small number of bad actors now threaten the survivability of our species,” he said.

A sad day for the climate establishment – but a great day for the rest of us.

So Mann presents himself as a loser…I concur.

“…lost Australia…” – yeah, and most of the free-thinking world as well. You Green-Activists have over-player your hand and people are turning away in droves. There will be more silliness about this yet for another 10 to 20 years, but eventually the true costs of Wind and Solar will be demonstrated, and they will be confined to those niches where they make sense and can compete.

Anyone that wants to reduce fossil fuel use should be promoting nuclear power – new research, new power plant designs, and more construction. That technology is rife with wasteful spending and its costs can be dramatically lowered given a common-sense approach to it.

In the US, that would be looser pays regulations for all of the frivolous lawsuits which slow construction.

The same for pipeline construction projects, etc. Much of what happens to delay construction would not happen if UK type regulations for lawsuits were instituted.

Maybe Qld does not want this for their governance…..

WSJ story today

Negative Rates, Designed as a Short-Term Jolt, Have Become an Addiction

Europe’s central banks haven’t been able to wean the eurozone off cheap money, which distorts economies and leaves little ammunition to cushion a downturn

(It does make you wonder if the climate crusades are directly correlated with the need for monetary injections that have zero to do with climate programs or science.)

It would be more accurate for that notorious duo to say that ‘We have lost Australia forevernow,’ after this election upset. The vote change in the State of Queensland where the huge Adani Coal Mine is planned was decisive. Queenslanders want Jobs and Industry not moonshine.

Professor Stephan Lewandowsky, an Australian cognitive scientist

For a cognitive scientist, he really isn’t very cognizant.

It’s the Fourth Turning, and authoritarian progressives of all stripes will soon be going down to defeat all over the planet.
Hurrah for Liberty!

Yes lost Australia and the quaint little place called the USA , soon to be followed by Canada , France and any other country with a brain .
Hide the decline , hide the decline .
Climate Gate flushed out the insular cabal of group thinkers who threatened dissent.
Very scientific .
Tens of thousands of unnecessary deaths caused by grossly inaccurate climate models and politicians to stupid to do their home work .

Mann … a small number of bad actors now threatens the survivability of our species . Really ?
Of 151 seats in the House of Representatives the Greens won . …. drum roll please …. one .

See this is the basic problem . Modelers should know how to count more than a tiny sample of things like tree rings and election result numbers .
The models underpinning the biggest hoax in history are wrong . Not a little wrong a lot wrong . In real science that would be a chance for further work . but not in the $7 trillion dollar climate industry .
No no the science is settled don’t you know .
