While some people speculate there was a climate bloviage link to the recent loss of a congressional seat in Florida, we have the name calling all nighter clownfest in the Senate last Monday.
Bjørn Lomborg writes on his Facebook page: A new survey from Gallup shows that Americans don’t worry all that much about global warming.
This is very similar to the survey showing Europeans worrying a lot more about almost all other issues than global warming, https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152349665523968
This does not mean that global warming is not a problem or something that needs to be addressed. But it does indicate that politicians are vastly overhyping the discussion and likely doing us a great disservice by focusing on short-term fixes like solar and wind that have huge costs but almost no benefits.
It is also encouraging that race relations is the least important worry in the US now.

Meanwhile the senate fiddles with name-calling while their constituents burn. “just some guy” writes via email:
Forbes has a good article today stating that Alex Sink’s loss was as much a part of global warming alarmism as anything else. This loss represents a true bellwether as Democrats and Republicans spent over $12 million dollars on this single race.
And, from Stephen Rasey in a comment about the congressional record from the Senate all-nighter:

It’s incredible how living, breathing people privilege materially measurable things like shelter, energy and food for themselves and their families, over for real you gotta listen!!! anthropogenic catastrophic irreversible coming very soon global warming.
It will get real interesting if the Germans pull the rug out from under Obama and the whole of the so called Renewable Energy scammers, er! industry! And that is starting to appear quite close indeed.
And if the Germans go so do the Brits and everybody else across Europe, probably with a huge sigh of relief from most of the populace.

Re the Florida election-
In Australia, if the incumbent is beaten, it was local politics to blame. If the incumbent is successful, it is a reflection on the federal policies.
“But it does indicate that politicians are vastly overhyping the discussion and likely doing us a great disservice by focusing on short-term fixes like solar and wind that have huge costs but almost no benefits.’
Bloke down the pub says: Fixes is debatable.
“Fix,” I’m sure, is meant in the veterinarian sense of “cut the balls off.” E.g., “Obama is fixing the US economy as rapidly as he can.”
looks like opinion polls = the ‘consensus’ now?
“According to a US study by Yale’s Tony Leiserowitz (pdf), 70% of those surveyed want something to be done about climate change, compared to a paltry 18% who are doubtful or dismissive of climate change. This compares to US support for gay marriage of just above 50%.
If there were any more consensus that something should be done about climate change, it’d be as contested as a puppy rescue. All the fake controversy drummed up by deniers makes climate the perfect social media opportunity for brands.”
To believe and parrot the predictions from unvalidated models doesn’t strike me as the qualification that someone has the ability to tell truth from false? rather its the position of a groupie.
co2 is about selling a ‘story’ regardless of the evidence or non evidence. He tries to sell co2 driven change with terms like Emotional resonance and social currency. These must be the new drivers of climate? If the climate modellers are putting emotional resonance and social currency into their models then maybe we should be told?

global warming warning label on the gas pump?
“The purpose of a global warming warning label on the gas pump may be comparable to the purpose of the surgeon general’s warning on a pack of cigarettes. Consumers of both gas and cigarettes are reminded every time they use the product that there are long-term consequences.”

wonder what the reaction would be if they put the labels on imports from china [land of the smog]?
The Senate’s SCAT show only showed to Americans that too many in government are full of it and spreading it around. The more the SCAT players do their poorly coordinated, badly informed obviously deceptive fun and games, the stronger their odor gets.
There is a double entry in the survey choice list for 1) Federal Spending and the Budget Deficit and 2) The Size and power of the Federal Govt. One of these could be dropped, making room for the additional category about concern for politically motivated destruction of the science process in Global Warming alarmism.
From the posting: This does not mean that global warming is not a problem or something that needs to be addressed

It is not clear to me whose comment this is, but what global warming, pray tell, and even if there were, then what problem, pray tell.
How about a repeat showing of the epic fail by the consensus and global climate models.

That chart is in almost the exact reverse order of the issues the LameLeft touts as important and would have us worry about and act on. The megaphones blare on, but have been tuned out by their audience.
The people who claim they believed in Hansenite Computer Modeling are crapping their pants daily as their entire legacy as scientifically legitimate – ever – evaporates.
The Hansen Concensus didn’t know James Hansen’s computer models don’t have the atmosphere operating according to ideal gas law, which is how it actually operates, and the Hansen Consensus Science clowns, are completely lacking in anything but an abiding despisement of the scientists who told everybody else and them too,
that they were as goofy as the predictions their scientific leadership in ”consensus” alleged.
The crawfishing will continue with everyone who is a ”consensus” believer doing all they can to hinder science moving past the sewer they injected into it, for as long as barking at the moon with spaghettti graphs, draws crowds of naive suckers.
Incidentally the outcry that “James Hansen’s models don’t depict the atmosphere responding according to ideal gas law was originally raised by Hansen’s past co-workers who knew what he was doing. They were the people who put men on the moon and had pioneered computer programming vis-a-vis atmospheric energy and atmospheric chemistry.
There is an article here about the 40 N.A.S.A. scientists with “The Right Climate Stuff” where there are six or seven Astronauts and another 30 N.A.S.A. employees who deride James Hansen and declare their actual embarrassment he represents them.
James Hansen’s friends who computer model the atmosphere don’t model it according to the way the atmosphere’s actually known to work, which is where the original claims of his models not obeying the laws of thermodynamics come from. Ideal gas law is proper thermodynamics.
Hansen’s computer modeling generation who are so eager to insult everyone who catches them spamming fraud, don’t model the atmosphere in even marginally realistic ways; which is why, every time you talk with someone who believes in “Hansen Consensus Science” its like you are arguing with an angry drunk. They’re angry because they’re so easily made fools of.
That’s the Hansen Computer Model believing concensus. Angry they are so easily made utter fools of; with offhand ease. It was originally a computer modeling grants scam.
Eventually it became Al Gore’s patented comeback tour.
It was always junk science.
