Oh jeez, the stupid, it burns like thermite.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo connects the Boston terrorist bombing and climate change as the “new normal”:
“It’s a terrible situation in Boston. And, unfortunately, … one gets the sense that this is more reflective of the ‘new normal,’ if you will,” he explained. “So much of society is changing so rapidly. We talk about a ‘new normal’ when it comes t0 climate change and adjusting to a change in the weather patterns. ‘New normal’ when it comes to public security in a post-9/11 world. Where these random acts of violence, which at one time were implausible, now seem all-too-frequent.”

The runner up comment goes to Brad Johnson of Forecast the Facts:
The only poison here is Brad and Andrew’s distorted worldview of seeing the climate change bogeyman in every weather event.

start locking them up now for there own sake
“Where these random acts of violence, which at one time were implausible, now seem all-too-frequent.”
There was nothing random about the acts of violence committed by these two young men and maybe others. They trained. They gathered supplies. They built bombs. What is random about that? They targeted something dear to the heart of Bostonians and Americans, the Boston Marathon Their initial act was an act of hatred for America. Other terrorist acts followed in its train.
There is a huge bureaucracy, the Department of Homeland Security, that works 24/7 to prevent such acts of hatred toward America and similar acts. They have foiled the plans of hundreds of terrorists in the last few years. There is nothing random about acts of terror against the US.
So, Governor Cuomo, what do you find in these acts that is random?

My Grandfather immigrated from Syria and had white skin and a red beard. As he said “Don’t forget all those crusades that passed through the Middle East”’
Gail, dear, please check out the New Testament. There is a book titled “Galatians.” The Galatians were the remnants of Celtic people who conquered large parts of the Middle East from about 300 to 100 BCE. Surprisingly enough, Carthage in North Africa was predominately Celtic. In other words, your roots might make you an Irish lass, with some meandering on the way.
As regards general matters of skin color, it seems to me that most people in the Middle East are white.

“…where these random acts of violence, which at one time were implausible, now seem all-too-frequent.” //
“His statement is not just crass and insensitive, it’s historically ignorant. When I was young and trying to make a living in London in the 70s, our streets and those of other British cities were full of bombs planted by the IRA. I personally was within a few hundred yards of around seven of those. Many people were killed and maimed. Incidentally, a huge amount of the financial support which funded the IRA’s murderous campaigns against innocent civilians came from Irish-American ‘charity’ collections in Boston and New York.”
Boston, New York, and at least one large midwestern city where I lived. The city had two Irish communities and separate St. Pat’s parades. One group was hardcore and openly embraced the darker side of Sinn Fein. Personally, I never have been able to tolerate people who openly call for the murder of innocents.
They got the little brother! If he survives, (he is badly wounded,) they will question him. I doubt Global warming is a subject they will ask him anything about.
I have listened to a lot of talk the past few days about whether the Boston Bombing was the act of a “domestic group,” and a “white Christian,” or “a foreign terrorist” and a “non-white non-Christian.” Racists hope it wasn’t their race that did it. Certain liberals seemed to be hoping the bombing would turn out to be carried out by the “Tea Party.” In other words, they wanted some sort of proof that people they politically disagree with are “wicked,” rather than merely “differing.”
It is a wonderful irony that the terrorists are white, yet also non-Christian. In other words, if you are going to categorize people, the two terrorist brothers exactly fit the category certain Liberals fit into, and don’t fit the category certain Liberals plunk members of the “Tea Party” into.
It is wrong to categorize in this manner, especially if you profess, “All men are created equal.”
If Justice is truly blind, Justice does not see what color our skin is, or where we chose to kneel and pray, but measures us by our deeds. Do we help others or do we harm others? Do we run the marathon, or do we bomb it?
It is utterly against the liberalism I knew, back when I was young and generous, to plunk other people into a category, and judge without scrutinizing deeds and facts. Sadly, that is what now is preventing dialog concerning Global Warming. As soon as you plunk someone into the category of “denier,” and refuse to listen, it is not Justice that is blind; rather it is your ability to judge.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has apparently lost the ability to judge. He is showing signs of a serious malady afflicting a great many politicians. They deal in a world of sound bytes, simplifications, stereotypes, “voting blocks,” and have lost touch with down-to-earth Truth.
I had two sons and a daughter-in-law at the Boston Marathon, who were not close to the bombs, (thank God,) but for a time I didn’t know that, and cell phone service was cut off. During such anxious moments all I want is the Truth. I have no use for sound bytes, simplifications, stereotypes, voting blocks, and could care less about skin color or where a persons goes to church.
In the same way, if Global Warming is truly an issue, all we need is the Truth. The last thing we need is sound bytes, simplifications, stereotypes, and rude comments that question our sanity and spirituality.
Heard it reported tonight that the Russians warned us of the older Chechen brother. I cannot locate any facts of a specific warning. Anyone here know wuwt? If so, what a DHS blunder Oblunder.
Bloviating Cuomo’s proud to be a shiny example of a new normal politician. He’s seen how well Obama has done, being a shiny new normal pol as the role model. Obama so proudly stated in his state of the union that terrorism’s leaders and terrorism were just about a thing of the past and no doubt would have loved to link that to climate change, if he’d only just had smarter yes-woman handlers surrounding him. The only thing more disgusting than the current republican party is the current democrat totalitarian party.
NO< they were/are Chechyn fundamentalists pushing the Islamist message. (whatever that is but peace is not in it.).
What’s normal is Cuemo’s abnormality.
Sorry for the typo. But as sure as eggs are eggs nearly always when you say something or someone is wrong there’s a typo lurking by:-)

Mother of all irony: Little brother is getting the best free Obamacare above all others in this country. They need him alive to talk and I’m sure a team of the finest doctors have been told to spare no effort or expense to keep him alive.

“Cuomo is the new abnormal. He and his ilk wanted to ban guns after Sandyhook; wouldn’t surprise me if he came up with legislation after the Boston bombing to ban pressure cookers.”
To paraphrase an old truism, when pressure cookers are made illegal, only criminals will have pressure cookers.
(For those not familiar with the original saying, substitute guns for pressure cookers. For those concerned about a totalitarian nanny-state, start substituting large soft drinks, SUVs, salt, butter, firewood, non-electric vehicles, outdoor clotheslines, etc. and you see where this is going.)

For a NY Governor, it shows how curiously disconnected he is from the popular sentiment nowadays. With a political antenna like that, I can’t see him surviving long …

Pointman, didn’t you notice it said NY Governor?
He’s the new normal.

The connection is not bombing a marathon and climate, but a marathon and Islam.
Islam does not do music, poetry fun, theatre or sport. Look at the London Olympics where nominally Christian nations won nearly 700 golds, while nominally Islamic nations only won 60. And yet the populations and total wealth are comparable between the two groups. Nations like Pakistan, with 180 million people, could not even win a bronze. But how much wealth do you need to produce an Olympic runner?
Islam simply does not do ‘civilisation’, period, and that is why they hate poetry, music, theater and sport. Look up Mo’s Dead Poets Society, to see why Islam does not do the liberal arts.
.
There is a similarity between the Boston bombings and the Hurricane Sandy. They both appear to be, mercifully, random events unconnected with any trend, let alone any shift to a new normal.

As a Brit I’ve no idea who Cuomo is but…
Give him a break.
Terrorism is rare in the US. Be grateful for that. But realise that it is challenging for people.
So this guy said something stupid. We’ve all done that.
And when we are emotional we are more prone to gaffes.
Give the guy a break. Let’s be together at this time.
Even as a foreigner, more unites me with those who are perturbed by senseless violence than divides us.
Only lay it on him if he repeats the folly.
Didn’t I say in a previous post that the Boston bombings would be blamed on global warming? Well, here we are!
The new normal is that close to half the population of the USA is on the government dole. That close to 40% of graduating high schoolers in the US can’t read or do math at the fifth grade level. That debt per capita in the US is almost $100,000/person. That climate change is absolutely, 100%, without a doubt, to the nth degree, unequivocally the least of my worries. Chew on that cuckoo Cuomo.
Not only has he ignored previous weather patterns/events but he’s also ignored past terrorist/mass killing events as well. Those to forget the past spout nonsense. It’s a shame most people don’t see through the smoke these guys are blowing.
The connection is obvious, he can’t control either, the climate or bombings. But he can be the “new normal” savior, in is mind. This is not some silly comment, but a subtle nudge to “follow me”. Which ultimately means , give me your money and I’ll take of everything for you.
Thanks Wendy…. I forgot about the ozone hole. Where the heck did it go? I guess it got plugged up with co2. We are on the right track after all.
