Weekend open thread – What are you doing for the rapture?

Somehow, standing in line for this just doesn’t do it for me.

It’s been the 21st here in Australia for 16 hrs and 28 mins. Apart from my cold nothing is worse. As you can see we only have 7 hrs and 32 mins to go so we should be able to give you a clue as what to expect. I’m off to a roast dinner and show. No vegans where I’m going.

Ralph,
“You have to admire the tenacity of these people, they get it wrong a thousand times and yet they STILL believe. Crazy what a belief will do to some people. And in the 21st century too !!”
are you refering to the doomsayers or the AGW apostles ??

Place not your trust in prophets & politicians. Weasels, every last thieving one of them. Here in the UK, I stayed awake until one minute past midnight with my suitcase packed& awaiting wapture. Nothing has changed it seems & I had such great hopes that there would be news that the Augean Stables known collectively as the White House, 10, Downing Street, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera, had been flushed through. So disappointing.

Could it be the case the end comes in 2011 on schedule, they’ve just forgot it’s only 1714 AD right now? That would explain a lot.

Well, it’s just after midnight in California and I’m still here.
The BBC is still on “the dish” and even the Asian Financial News is still running (and they’ve been in “today” for quite a while now.
Maybe the world ends at the END of today instead of the beginning… We’ve still got a few hours before the end of the end ends… or something like that…
Or maybe we’ve had The Rapture and I didn’t notice? But the spouse is still here and she is very religious… Oh well, maybe next “end of the world as we know it”…

08:10 am here in Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire. Gloomy day, 10-10ths cloud, light drizzle, brisk wind from the south. BBC has forecast rain for most of the day. Looks like they got a better forecast. 🙂

You’re all off track- God is booked to be in the car with Lewis Hamilton for tomorrow’s Spanish Grand Prix same as always. (S)he has no time for stuff like the starving millions etc when the faithful have races to win and suchlike prayers that need to be answered.
But seriously folx- 5.30 PM here now- boy will my face be red if I am still here in half an hour’s time- I tried so hard to be a good gnome.

Donald (South Australia) says: May 20, 2011 at 9:02 pm
The only difference between these dopes and the Warmist charlatans is that they are just one step more stupid in naming the actual day.
Don’t let such mere details lead you to believe such beliefs will just dissappear!
Matthew 24:30 “they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. … 33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. 34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
“the apocalyptic beliefs of the first Christians have been proved to be false. It is clear from the New Testament that they all expected the Second Coming in their own lifetime. And, worse still, they had a reason, and one which you will find very embarrassing. Their Master had told them so. He shared, and indeed created, their delusion. He said in so many words, ‘This generation shall not pass till all these things be done.’ And he was wrong. He clearly knew no more about the end of the world than anyone else.” [Here the imaginary critics end speaking. CS Lewis begins next.]
It is certainly the most embarrassing verse in the Bible. Yet how teasing, also, that within fourteen words of it should come the statement “But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.” The one exhibition of error and the one confession of ignorance grow side by side.
To this, the skeptic may reply, “If Jesus incorrectly predicted His return within the contemporaneous generation, but actually did not know that … etc.” (http://www.thingstocome.org/whatgen.htm)

Late afternoon here in Japan. May 21st and it’s my 59th birthday, woot. I’ve stocked up with beer and popcorn, and I’m going to sit in the garden and watch the show. I hope it’s very loud with lots of bright lights.

Woody Allen used to say that if he knew that the world was to end in 10 minutes he would make wild, passionate love to his current significant other – and then put the kettle on for a nice cup of tea!

The World doesn’t end on the 21st of May. The ‘good’ people just get taken up to heaven and the rest of us are left behind to experience the end of the World, coming on October the 21st. Most assume that the lucky few will just vanish but in fact their soulless bodies will remain, they will be zombies! The CDC already knows this and has put out warnings of the Zombie Apocalypse and how to prepare for it. Some of us suspect that this process has already started, I know I’ve met a few zombies over the phone when I was trying to complain about something.

You have been warned.
