It’s a funny, scary time in the climate alarmist camp. Once-favorable economic and political trends are going the other way in the U.S. and increasingly in the world. What to do? Literally thousands of climate-issue employees (grifters?) need to find alternative employment, almost all in net-positive (CO2) industries where value is being created rather than redistributed and lost. Big Money Green will keep priming the pump for many, however, so a base of false-green advocacy will remain.

In 2024 (Google summary):
- Breakthrough Energy, the climate group funded by Bill Gates, laid off all of its US public policy team and its entire European staff. This decision was seen as a major retreat from public policy advocacy in a shifting political landscape.
- Rewiring America, a nonprofit focused on housing electrification, announced layoffs after its grant funds were frozen by the EPA.
- The Connecticut Roundtable on Climate and Jobs also announced layoffs, citing a decline in grants, which they linked partly to Bill Gates’ foundation pulling back on funding for policy-focused organizations.
And in 2025, Jeff Bezos’ Earth Fund halted funding, while 350.org suspended programming in the U.S. and cut back worldwide. Greenpeace USA might be next.
Grist Appeal
At Grist, a fundraising appeal begins with weather-climate Doomism followed by this:

NRDC Misinformation
Pure misinformation is also being peddled to keep the faithful from bailing. National Resources Defense Council (Manish Bapna) reported from COP30:
… after everything that has happened in 2025, including the Trump Administration slamming the brakes on clean energy and climate action… what is the mood? … Yet the mood is not one of despair. The urgency is real, but so is the determination. New leaders are stepping up, and the global community continues to move forward. I am hopeful, and so are most of my colleagues. This is not only because I believe in humanity’s ability to rise to the occasion, although I do. It is also because the numbers tell a clear story. Clean energy is winning on economics.
I commented:
“Clean energy is winning on economics.” Bunk. The heralded ‘energy transition’ is really ‘energy duplication’ inflating rates. Repeal the IRA, ITC, and PTC immediately to get your verdict–and spare the living space of wind, solar, and battery industrialization (and duplication).
Final Comment
Climate activists are in denial. A great reset is underway despite tons of money and legions of soldiers for their public-rejected cause. I have challenged the Climate Industrial Complex, the Church of Climate, to open their minds to reject the industrialization of wind/solar/batteries and accept the benefits of CO2 growth (global greening) and fossil fuels (human betterment, adaptation). But are they willing to emotionally reject their prior thinking for cause?

But, I think reality is starting to dawn on a lot of people. Like Gates. He sees that American-made AI is impossible without a robust energy sector, which can only be accomplished with fossil fuels and nuclear. AI trumps CO2 for Gates, and lots of other big-money men.

Trump has to get as many EO’s codified into law before the 2026 midterm election while he still has the House & Senate.

Fudging the figures by lumping hydro power in with wind and solar under ‘renewables’ when in reality wind and solar are a different ‘species’ because of intermittence is deceptive.
Anyway in 2024 wind and solar together generated 4,500TWh (15%) while coal generated 10,000TWh (32%) of the total global electricity generation of about 31,000TWh (Our World in Data).
Electricity accounts for about 22% of the total global energy consumption, wind and solar when the weather and diurnal cycle allow contribute about 3.5% of that total global energy consumption.
Let the climate neurotics and others (‘baptists and bootleggers’) have their little treat just as one might humour annoying children.
The Cuckoonutacular Caterwauling Climate Cult is circling the drain. Sure, they will try to put a brave face on to try to rally the troops, but their doom is both certain and nigh.
I would really like to be sure of that…
.. but let’s not lower our guard… who knows what idiocies they can come up with next.

We must never underestimate the capacity of the state to waste public money. Even that phrase ‘public money’ is a construct to avoid calling it what it is, money taken by legislative force from wealth creators and their worker’s pockets.
Those engaged in state funded (another false construct) activities regard those providing the essential finance for those activities with contempt at best, with downright hostility at worst.
From that basic Public Sector foundation the easy care free squandering of Private Sector wealth comes. The ongoing mindset of projecting crisis, any crisis, in order to justify interventions and thus legitimatise sequestration of other peoples wealth is a well trodden path..
The Western World needs to return to basics and drop the Woke. Drop the faux battles of rich versus poor being promoted by the now dominant left wing public sector agencies and drop the ongoing climate change paranoia.
Examples of ridiculous Public expenditure are everywhere. This is one recent example from the UK. The much delayed HS2 rail line from close to London to Birmingham route authorised the construction of a bat tunnel on a section of open line costing £100 million. The spend is necessary/essential to safeguard bats….apparently. Just a few miles away wind turbines are wiping bats out at an alarming rate, but no matter, the state planning authority continues to approve the wind turbine expansion bat extermination program.
Go figure, as someone once said.
Climate Alarmism will persist while the state can use it to justify its policies. The faux nature of it does not bother those using it for their own gain which includes most government agencies.

But the interesting thing in the quotes in the post is that the measures they are applauding will have no effect even on national emissions, let alone global ones, even if they are adopted at scale. Its completely wishful thinking. Electric bicycles? And that they are no longer being advocated in the name of climate action, that is vanishing as a reason.

It has been so used, but I think that phase has now ended. You no longer find it figuring in the justifications the UK Labour Government gives for Net Zero. Something more complicated is happening. The former means to an end, Net Zero, has now become an end in itself and is used to justify all kinds of initiatives. You find UK organizations, companies and government bodies, including local authorities and the UK National Health Service, citing Net Zero as their justification for various outlandish actions.
But the justification for Net Zero is no longer to ‘tackle climate change’ as the story used to go. Its become an unquestioned end in itself,along with the dogma that EVs and heat pumps, wind and solar, will get there.
You can see this happening if you look carefully at other recent progressive manias and the policies they lead to on
Jared Diamond needs to write a new book on a new way for cultures to collapse. In a welter of irrelevant and ineffective actions which will have no effect on wholly imaginary problems, even were those problems real, and in the total disregard of genuine dangers and threats.
A key component in this is the process of redefinition of what is being done and the justification for doing it.

There is a petition in the UK to ban the use of the word ‘free’ when the government provides it given that it is paid for out of our taxes.
