In early summer, wild forecasts appeared in the Germany media with dire warnings of a blistering hot summer, accompanied by severe drought! Harvests risked being dreadful.

But now that summer has ended, Germany’s DWD national weather service reports this year’s harvest “is significantly better than last year.”
“In many places, the fruit trees across the country are laden with fruit. In some cases, they are so heavily laden that individual branches are breaking under the enormous weight,” the DWD reports.
In terms of figures, the yield per hectare of grain (excluding corn) increased by 7.3 percent compared to the average from 2019 to 2024. The outlook for fruit and wine growing is similarly promising: the apple harvest is expected to increase by around 15.7 percent compared to the previous year and by 3.9 percent compared to the multi-year average.
The cherry harvest was one of the best in many years. Farmers also expect a good to above-average harvest and good quality for the 2025 vintage. We can only hope that the coming period will not be completely ruined by rain and that the wine can be harvested on time.
The bumper 2025 harvest year is due in large part to the positive climatic water balance was already recorded in fall 2024, which, in simple terms, means that the plants had sufficient water available. This was also reflected in soil moisture levels, which were even above average in some areas.
The harvest in 2024 was hit by severe night frosts of around -5°C at the end of April and there had been heavy local snowfall on April 21. Conditions in 2025 were much better.

The winter of 2024/25 was comparatively warm and characterized by low pressure and rainfall, at least at times, before high pressure caused a prolonged dry spell and soil moisture levels fell (slightly) below average. Vegetation started later than in the previous three years, which already minimized the risk of frost damage during flowering. In April and May, just in time for the plants to sprout, there was at least some precipitation and cooler temperatures in some areas, so that the effects were limited despite a significantly dry spring.
There were hardly any night frosts during the April-May period that could have damaged the plants and led to crop losses. Only in the east and southeast Germany did frost occur again on May 23 and 24, causing some damage to vegetation.
The summer of 2025 started off sunny and dry, which initially suggested that prolonged drought could lead to crop failures. The media warned that a “hellish summer” would be in the works with severe drought. But the doom and gloom never materialized. In July the weather became significantly wetter than the previous months. Fruit trees benefited from the weather, which is now leading to a bountiful harvest in the fall, reports the DWD.

They’ll just keep “predicting” the same thing. And when it finally happens, they’ll boast about the accuracy of their “prediction” and draw the dotted line to “climate change” and warn that more such (weather) is “expected due to climate change.”
And the deluded will memory hole all the incorrect predictions and point to the one that was “right” purely by chance.
Or they will carefully select the time period so that it supports what they are selling, and then proclaim that all others are just cherry picking.

So what else is new here since the UN’s FAO has reported that agricultural output globally has tripled over the last half-century. So why would Germany’s production be any different? Incidentally, I noticed in local Canadian supermarkets sacks of rice imported from India were being sold at nearly 40% discounts. Now this is from a country that has experienced major famines in the past when its population was one-third of what it is today. In addition, the climate alarmists have been consistently warning about a repeat of those conditions because of the so-called climate crisis. Yet here India is in a position with 1.4 billion people and able to grow enough rice to not only provide enough domestically but also to be able to export a sizeable surplus. So let’s hear how the alarmists can explain such a supposed anomaly or maybe the problem or threat from the climate never existed from the outset.
