The Department of the Interior (DOI) announced Thursday it generated over $39 million in revenue from oil and gas lease sales on public lands during the first few months of 2025.
A press release by the agency says these sales are “underscoring the Department’s continued commitment to responsible energy development on public lands and American Energy Dominance.” The revenue also reflects the government’s ongoing focus on supporting job growth, reducing reliance on foreign resources, unleashing domestic energy production and streamlining the permitting and leasing processes.
“This quarter’s lease sales demonstrate Interior’s unwavering commitment to fostering American Energy Dominance, and we are grateful to those who produce energy on federal lands,” DOI Secretary Doug Burgum said in the statement. “By building on the commonsense, pro-growth policies of the Trump administration, we’re ensuring public lands are being used to their fullest potential to support national security, economic strength and livelihood of the American people.”
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) leased 34 parcels, amounting to 25,038 acres, for a total of $39,007,609 in the first quarter of 2025, the press release stated. The bonus bids and rentals from the leases are set to be distributed between the states and federal government. The states where sales occurred include North Dakota, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada and Wyoming. The sales come amid President Donald Trump’s Executive Order 14154, which is aimed to help “meet the energy needs of U.S. citizens and solidify the nation as a global energy leader long into the future.”
Oil and gas leases are set up with terms of 10 years and can continue for longer if there is “production of oil and gas in paying quantities,” the press release noted. The federal government also receives a 16.67% royalty from the production.
The BLM is set to hold an additional 15 oil and gas lease sales in 2025.

The New Mexico acreage ($15,693/ac) is largely in the Permian Basin.
in Colorado, grazing land suitable for building is going over $7,000 an acre, but the BLM land lots cheaper. Nevertheless, decent price for the leases/bids
Drill, baby, drill!
Cheap, reliable power will give the US a big advantage economically n the coming years
Europe will take a bit longer to come to its senses
But it will
I hope so as well, just having serious doubts that good old Europe will come to it’s senes in time.
Does you no good to admit that you where steering in the wrong direction after having hit the clearly visible wall…
were…
I think it will be forced to.
Remember when Trump was last in power. Everything trump said was wrong. Funny that as soon as he was gone those same things became right
Europe is like that, self flagellating, passive aggressive, pompous, self righteous, hypocritical and ultimately cowardly
It needs time to get over the tantrum. It will moan for a while, flog itself then start to act
This will take the form of appointing a working group to decide on membership of a committee to consider action on energy security
There will be multiple dinners, conferences and 1 on 1 discussions behind the scenes
Once decided, after around 2 years, there will be a big gala to announce and celebrate the formation of the committee
Grand speeches will follow, bestowing great praise on the members and on the working group for their superb work
By this point they will have spent 1 billion euros on flights hotels, food, champagne, stationery and personal assistants
Finally, the real work will begin
EU dislikes the colonies exercising their power over them. They have always exploited the natives, now the natives are slapping them back.
I think the relationship has been the reverse for some time, with Europe as vassal colonies but retaining delusions of grandeur.
In the meantime another Obama/Biden judge has once again nullified the 2023 Gulf of America lease sale on behalf of a fake whale species…

Funny how they worry about whales in the Gulf and totally ignore whales in the Atlantic.
I’m more concerned about the whales in congress. Those guys could afford to push back from the buffet from time to time.
More good news.
