In a keynote address at the launch of the International Gender Champions Climate Impact Group, Celeste Saulo, secretary-general of the WMO, stated that women and men are affected differently by weather and climate, and therefore need gender-sensitive information and services.
Since taking office at the start of 2024, Saulo has stated that one of her priorities is to foster greater diversity within the WMO, ensuring equitable representation across gender, regional and cultural lines. She is committed to implementing the WMO Gender Equality Policy which was updated in 2023.

Many of WMO’s programs to strengthen climate adaptation seek to address the barriers faced by women and marginalized communities in accessing resources and decision making tools. For instance, the Fiji Meteorological Service – in line with government policy – is working to mainstream gender in the provision of early warning systems thanks to the support of partners like Climate Risk and Early Warning Systems (CREWS).
Saulo continued, “I am determined to use my voice as an international gender champion to ensure that gender considerations are mainstreamed in climate policies. We have no time to lose. We stand at the intersection of inequality and climate change, and our strategies must reflect the urgency of the times.

I thought “women and men” wasn’t a thing anymore. What kind of “gender champion” wants to stick us all back in the bifocal gender straight jacket again? I want to know how the mild warming of the past 150 years is going to mess with my identification as an ambidextrous, throat singing, gender expansive, vegan, astrosentient, Llama with three legs. That’s the sort of problem these suppose scientists should be working on, not worrying about whether the presence of testis and extra fur will provide a survival advantage when the air conditioning is suboptimal.
Hmmm … much of the world still considers women as second class citizens, including on the UN’s council on Human Rights (or whatever the they call it).
I suspect this claimed threat is targeted at the women of “The West”.
The rest have no say worthy to be be considered.
(The “WHO” is a UN thing, right?)
Each and every new crisis tells us a “respected” institution shouldn’t be so respected.
As they transform themselves into institutions no longer worthy of anyone’s respect, we should note that Rodney Dangerfield, while being disrespected, at least provided entertainment.
These idiots contribute absolutely nothing of use to society, and everyone who reads or hears their moronic spew is in danger of instantly becoming less intelligent (or more stupid, as the case may be).
