Recently, hockey stick creator Dr. Michael Mann went on CBC to try linking wildfires and climate change, and the result was laughable. We’ll give Mann the attention he craves with a thorough look into the decades of misdirection, ad-hominem attacks, and gaslighting few can reasonably call a scientific career.
Tune in to the show for a look into the infamous “hockey stick” chart, the media’s portrayal of Mann at the time, videos of congressional hearings, charts Mann has defended, and more on Climate Change Roundtable.
Catch Host Anthony Watts and panelists Linnea Lueken and Andy Singer for episode 68 of Climate Change Roundtable, live every Friday at 12pm CT/1PM ET.

M. Mann has become the Linus Pauling of climate science, without the early career success.
Linus Pauling was wrong about the DNA structure, James Watson :: CSHL DNA Learning Center
With respect, did Linus Pauling deliberately erase data to suit his predisposition about DNA structure in the same way Mann opined that AWG/CC is “real, settled science” and CO2 is a pollutant molecule greenhouse gas….and still owes Judge enforced sum for losing a lawsuit…..and invented a scenario to prove his “theory” aka The Hockey Schtick?
There were also these. It was also good enough to dupe Steve Jobs years later.

Here’s my tale of my intersection with the Mann …

A large proportion of the projected global warming is definitely Mann made.

Here is the reason CO2 doesn’t cause nor is linked to forest fires.
Given what’s happened there over the years, Mike Mann obviously feels that he fits in and is comfortable at Penn State. Kinda says it all really.
The same mann who gets upset when people think he is very unethical in his use of other people’s work that goes unattributed.
Wow!
From the very beginning when I first saw that guy I thought. Well there is a guy that in High School got locked in his locker, suffered many wedgies, and had papers taped to his back saying “Kick me”.
And my opinion has not changed in those many years.
Going on the hysterical and laughable dribblings from this bloke (eg; Australia will be either a Mad Max or Water World in the future) there is little doubt that he is over compensating for something in his past. He is both sad and infuriating at the same time. Not enough negative things can be said about this irritation.
I don’t think he was necessarily badly treated at school, but he’s definitely over compensating. I think he’s just a not very bright academic that believes, wrongly, that the reason he isn’t the world’s number one scientist is because everyone is out to get him. He moved away from doing physics because the ‘math was too difficult’ for him, he can’t do the necessary math to present statistics in his chosen field and sues regularly for imagined slights as part of some deep-rooted persecution complex. A rather pathetic figure with delusions of grandeur – his ego is writing cheques he simply hasn’t got the ability to cash.
Congrats to Linnea Lueken who got the Greta incident exactly right.
Neither she, nor James Anderson, the scientist she was channeling, said humanity would be dead by 18 June 2023, the claim was that if fossil fuel usage was not ended, by that date, hunanity was doomed. Neither used the term tipping point, but it is clear that is what was meant. Anderson did say it was virtually certain the artic would be ice free by 2022.

“The chance that there will be any permanent ice left in the Arctic after 2022 is essentially zero,” Anderson said…
The Australian fires a couple of years ago occurred after 2 years greatly decreased rainfall, followed by a hot year.
The actual area burnt was significantly lower than many years previously, just in the wrong place, ie near human occupancy areas.
You will not have heard a single peep about “wildfire” in Australia since.
And were these fires in any way exacerbated by “management” practices beloved of the Ecoloons…?
In a way, yes.
Regular burn-offs were hard to get through legislation …
Fire trails not properly maintained etc etc
Even if they had been able to get burn-offs done easily, two wet years followed by two dry years left a large amount of highly flammable growth in most areas.
IMO, it would have been a monumental task to burn-off the load that had accumulated quickly enough to have made a lot of difference.
Mostly the problem was the NORMAL Australian climate… as it always has been.
Thing is… after 3 years of “wet” on the east coast, we are already approaching that same fuel load situation in many areas,
There is a lot of tallish drying grass and scrubby eucalyptus growth in forest areas, and nothing seems to be being done about it.
I suspect that we will have another rather nasty bush-fire year within the next few years.
That is what the Australian bush does.
KISS, simply look at the Hockey-stick. There is absolutely nothing about the trend in atmospheric CO2 or the quantum mechanics of the CO2 molecule that would ever justify a sudden change in temperature starting in 1902. The rapid bend in the temperature starting in 1902 when instrumental data is added is proof that CO2 isn’t the cause of the warming. The atmospheric trend and quantum mechanics of the CO2 molecule didn’t suddenly change in 1902, something else must have changed, and it wasn’t CO2. The fact that many real scientists are remaining silent is a real problem.
”The fact that many real scientists are remaining silent is a real problem.”
It is the main problem.
Are they being silent or are not being given a microphone?
Mann didn’t even get this right on his own.
He should at least have acknowledged his debt to Trofim D. Lysenko.
In fairness, Lysenko had Uncle Joe minding his back. A more scary chap than Sunak or Brandon.
Mann’s laughable garbage is still entirely accepted by 97% of Academia, the Media and the geniuses of the IPCC and their political chums.
Read Mark Steyn’s “A disgrace to the Profession” for the views of the naughty 3%. Mark has been waiting now 12 years for the sewer that represents “Justice” in DC to determine Mann’s case against him.
