The Cleveland Clinic defines “mania” as: “…an extremely unstable euphoric or irritable mood along with an excess activity or energy level, excessively rapid thought and speech, reckless behavior and feeling of invincibility.
We’ve seen the so-called “Trump Derangement Syndrome” exhibited by the left, apparently Mann’s manic tweeting suggests he’s suffering from could be called “Curry Derangement Syndrome.” How else can you explain the last few days of obsessively tweeting and retweeting from others about her?
Here’s a few examples.
Yes–this is Judith Curry:
and yes, this too:

Is the comedic website ‘skeptical science’, created by a professional cartoonist and dressed up like a scientific site, complete with fanatical, obsessive hit men patrolling its comments section with the brief to hysterically shout down any genuine inquiries, what Michael Mann considers ‘peer reviewed’ standard?
If so, evidently it’s founder, the professional cartoonist John Cook, no longer maintains it and has left it to rot on the vine.
As a complete climate newbie many years ago it was the first site I headed for as ‘skeptical science’ sounded, well, skeptical.
For just asking straightforward questions I was attacked mercilessly, like a steak dropped into a pool of ravenous piranha’s.
“As a complete climate newbie many years ago it was the first site I headed for as ‘skeptical science’ sounded, well, skeptical.”
Same for me- I posted the following comment elsewhere in this thread:
I think the motto of that site is “skeptical of climate skeptics”- so I asked there if it’s OK to be skeptical of people who are skeptical of climate skeptics- and they warned me any more comments like that and I’d be blocked.
I visited WUWT after my experience expecting much the same reception but couldn’t have been more wrong. So many helpful people patiently explaining things to me with humour and good grace.
Back then I wrote …
It was an icky dicky, tricky Mickey, cherry picky hockey stickey, that Mann gave to the IPCC

It seems we missed this moan in the Observer (the Guardian on a Sunday)

Ben Pile did a twitter thread about it

As Corporal Jones (Dad’s Army) used to say
They don’t like it up ’em, the fuzzy wuzzies.
Dr. Mann criticizing another scientist! He has a poor memory.
Mann claimed to be a 2007 Nobel Peace Prize winner and a Nobel Laureate in a defamation lawsuit filed in US Federal court. Mann lied in US Federal Court when he twice claimed in his Complaint that he was a Nobel Laureate. Documents are filed in Federal Court under Rule 11 where the party filing the document must make a reasonable effort to make sure what is stated in the document is true (factual statements).
10/24/2012 Complaint filed. Mann v. Competitive Enterprise Institute
Description: Defamation action brought by climate scientist against authors and publishers of articles about scientist’s work
From the Complaint:
“2. Dr. Mann is a climate scientist whose research is focused on global warming. Along with other researchers, he was one of the first document steady rise in surface temperatures during the 20th century and the increase in measured temperatures in 1950s. As a result of this research, Dr. Mann and his colleagues were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
5. It is one thing to engage in discussion about debatable topic. It is quite another to attempt to discredit totally validated scientific research through professional and personal defamation of a Nobel Prize recipient…”
In Dec 2012, the IPCC sent out a memo to key people who participated in writing AR1, AR2, AR3, AR4 including Mann telling everyone it was incorrect to claim to be a winner. Months later, Mann’s attorneys filed a “correction” on the claims.
Mann continued to allow reporters and publishers to praise him as a 2007 Nobel Peace Prize winner. Mann is just one of hundreds of “climate scientists” who have made the claim. Worse, the IPCC still uses scientists who made the claim to write reports.
(Recycling to help save the planet from Mann.)
Stopping by Yamal One Snowy Evening
What tree this is, I think I know.
It grew in Yamal some time ago.
Yamal 06 I’m placing here
In hopes a hockey stick will grow.
But McIntyre did think it queer
No tree, the stick did disappear!
Desperate measures I did take
To make that stick reappear.
There were some corings from a lake.
And other data I could bake.
I’ll tweak my model more until
Another hockey stick I’ll make!
I changed a line into a hill!
I can’t say how I was thrilled!
Then Climategate. I’m feeling ill.
Then Climategate. I’m feeling ill.
Yamal was Briffa’s baby, not Mann’s.
This speaks volumes as to the degree that climate and related sciences have been bastardized by politics and money. You have a so-called scientist who goes after critics of his publications like a rabid dog; a scientist whose publications have already been de-bunked.
Now take a look at other sciences where money and politics aren’t much of a factor – physics, astronomy, paleontology, archaeology….The only money in those sciences is sought to continue to dig in the ground, look to the sky or build particle accelerators and other test equipment and make observations. There really are no split camps where scientists battle over findings, theories (or computer models). And most importantly, there isn’t a clique of scientists who try to drum out those in the profession who disagree with their findings and predictions. Yes, there are disagreements, like whether or not t-rex was a scavenger (rather than a predator) and how far into North America the Vikings made it. And theoretical things, like what happens to something that falls into a black hole….but no one files lawsuits, and no one stoops to name-calling and no one gets kicked off of internet sites and forums for having a differing idea.
And finally, scientists in those fields have very little reason to fudge data (well, OK, there was the infamous Piltdown Man, but that’s an outlier).
Sadly, climate science and medical science are the most corrupted branches of science these days. No wonder people don’t trust “the science” anymore!
I check out “science” sites before I trust them.
Politically-skewed websites are not useful. They often misrepresent the facts to advance desired political narratives. Let’s look at the two most popular “go to” sites used by CAGW Alarmists:
1. Skeptical Science…aka SEPTICAL Science….run by a CARTOONIST, John Cook, who has NO science credentials and dresses like a KNOTSEE.…”I’m not a climatologist or a scientist but a self employed cartoonist” – John Cook, Skeptical Science..His claim to fame is that he keeps a journal and uses it to BLACKLIST prominent Climate REALISTS.
For those who are not familiar with the disgusting liar and fraud John Cook,

2. DeSmogBlog…aka DeSmog BOG…..Jim Hoggan — owner of the Vancouver, Canada PR firm Hoggan & Associates….PR FIRM!!! HA, HA, REAL CLIMATE SCIENCE SOURCE….NOT!
Brendan DeMelle — Executive Director and Managing Editor. He is also a FREELANCE WRITER…FREELANCE because NOBODY WILL HIRE HIM!! He and I correspond, and I am signed up for his newsletter where he lists all the damage they are doing to the fossil fuel industry.
NO SCIENCE CREDENTIALS, but these two STOOGES constantly LIE about Climate Realists…and the site was Founded by a Convicted Money Launderer, John Lefebvre …look it up if you doubt me….
