German ARD Television Cabaret Artist Says Warmer Planet Better…”167,000 Fewer Cold Deaths”

From the NoTricksZone

By P Gosselin on 25. December 2021

By Die kalte Sonne

Shortly before Christmas, cabaret artist Dieter Nuhr regularly appears on ARD German public television and looks back on the year. This was also the case for 2021 and, in addition to the topic of Corona, the climate was once again on the agenda:

(Image: Screenshot ARD German public television Mediathek)

We have a transcript of the program here, or parts of it, because it will disappear from the ARD media library in 6 months. This is also to record how Mr. Nuhr saw the year 2021. Nuhr has become a hate figure by certain circles since his criticism of Fridays For Future and also of Greta Thunberg. There are regular calls circulating through social media demanding his broadcaster cancel the show.

We are already very high up on the cancel culture scale. Here are excerpts from Nuhr’s view of the climate issue:

But the biggest surprise (in the Bundestag election) was the generation of first-time voters. Among the supposed Friday-For-Future generation, only one in four voted Green, on a par with the FDP Freed Democrats, which even had more votes. This must not be so bad for the climate issue, because all parties have set themselves the task of saving the climate. Unfortunately in vain, but I’m serious, because I think it would be great if we could stop climate change. Unfortunately – that can’t be done from Germany, too bad, because what many people don’t know is that you can’t achieve world domination in the Bundestag elections. That was a surprising realization for many. It would be nice, but…unfortunately, unfortunately, even if we turned our country into a swamp biotope and replaced the population with frogs, what could happen next year, we don’t know yet. Even then, I wouldn’t see measurable climate cooling.”

I would have liked to hear in the election campaign what the parties want to do not to prevent climate change, but to live with it. Because that will be the dominant issue of the next decades. We will not prevent the terrible catastrophes – like the one in Ahrweiler in July – with heat pumps or electric cars, but we will make them manageable with sewage systems and flood plains that can cope with heavy rainfall.”

Since the climate summit in Glasgow, it has become absolutely clear that we will miss the 1.5 degree target. Those who were smart knew it beforehand. The heads of state of Russia and China didn’t even show up, because, of course, they couldn’t meet the deadline. Xi Jinping had to do a color wash. Vladimir Putin still had to return deposit bottles – that couldn’t be postponed. My hope was the American president, he had a super idea, he said: “May God save the planet” and then he fell asleep. Well, someone has to do it, I’m afraid that relying on God already went wrong with the plague.

By the way, 5 million people die every year because of the weather. 1/10 of all deaths can be attributed to extreme temperatures. 90%, by the way, because it’s too cold. I found that interesting once. There are already an additional 116,000 heat deaths every year, no joke, but also 283,000 fewer deaths due to cold – making a total of 167,000 undead. There are 4.5 times as many people dying from cold as from heat in this world and the Barcelona Institute of Global Health says that the data suggests that the total number of deaths will decrease in the coming years. That is good news.

The original German broadcast can be seen until June 22, 2022, at the ARD media library.

Very little science involved in that calculation, half runt, just very basic arithmetic. Do you wish that more people died for your lunatic doomsday cult?

Perhaps you should get another failed theology student, or failed comic artist to bolster the cult’s beliefs.

Nuhr is directionally correct about Excess Winter Deaths:
COLD WEATHER KILLS 20 TIMES AS MANY PEOPLE AS HOT WEATHER
by Joseph d’Aleo and Allan MacRae, September 4, 2015

I do object to his sentence as follows:
It would be nice, but…unfortunately, unfortunately, even if we turned our country into a swamp biotope and replaced the population with frogs, what could happen next year, we don’t know yet. Even then, I wouldn’t see measurable climate cooling.”

i think we are seeing global cooling now, and it will get colder and more dangerous in January and February 2022. I predicted this cooling and the green-energy debacle in 2002 and again in precise detail in 2013.

I’d say he’s more credible than Mikey Mann, better grasp of reality, seems to actually understand science even though he isn’t a scientist?

Anyone who questions and looks for answers is a scientist at some level.

The fact that he can point out reality and call for common sense policy, in Germany of all places and not get cancelled is heartening.

It’s newsworthy that the comedian hasn’t been brainwashed like most media puppets. If there is something inaccurate in what he said please point it out! Isn’t it a fact that more people die from extreme cold than heat (about 10:1) so global warming would be a benefit? Isn’t true that the flooding disaster would not have been any better if Germany had done anything different? If the whole world had done anything different? The earth is no where near the normal temperatures of about 10°C hotter where it spent most of its time in the past few hundreds of millions of years. 1°C warmer over the past 100 years is nothing to wet yourself over, it’s only a good start to getting back to the warm temps of past golden ages.

“1°C warmer over the past 100 years is nothing to wet yourself over”

Right on, given the reality that most humans in the past 100,000 years didn’t know where their next meal was coming from or whether or not a neighbor would wack them over the head with a club- or a cave bear or saber tooth would have them for lunch.

Remember it has cooled by almost 0.6 deg C since 2016. So, only 0.4. And the uncertainty is about 1.5 C because of error propagation and sparse ocean temp readings.

By the way it is -33 C in Lac Ste County, Alberta this evening. We are matching or exceeding records left, right and neutral.

In 1970 in what is today Bangladesh, East Pakistan, 500,000 persons were killed by a storm surge as a result of a tropical cyclone. During those chilly years of the early 1970s, cabaret artists dressed up as and claiming to be climatologists were claiming that Earth was on the verge of a new Ice Age. Then these same ‘climatologists’ changed tack and started distributing the same END of the World flyers, but this time because of global warming. And people still died of storm surges.

Even the butcher, the baker and the candlestick maker are now beginning to see that Catastrophic Anthropo Global Warming is a front for a ‘Totalitarian Reset’ of world governance and the economy.

At Glasgow, the head of an African Energy think tank addressed the UN ideologues stating that Africa can’t afford renewables and they don’t work anyway. They need cheap dispatchable power to lift their people out of poverty.

It doesn’t surprise me that a German caberet spokesman understands that the whole climate/anti fossil fuel shiteree is a clumsy political sleight of hand. Don’t be the last one out the door.

Percussion maintenance, we call it in the computer world. It works surprisingly often.

There is a fabled Compaq manual that defines this perfectly (you can look it up). The text was supposed to be:
“Hold down Ctrl – Alt and hit Del repeatedly.”

Somebody decided to use graphics to depict the Ctrl Alt and Del keys. Unfortunately they were never entered into the manual before printing. The result was:

“Hold down and hit repeatedly.”

These instructions have worked very well indeed for dealing with IT people in my experience.

fear of weather seems to correlate with age . young people fear weather and see in it a malignant force bringing impending doom . older people tend to remember that weather events have always been a part of life. young people have often been raised leading very sheltered lives without the free range unsupervised non electronic association with nature of earlier generations . it is sad that a generation which loves nature so much fears and loathes what earlier generations accepted as the essence of nature .

I’m old, and my main fear from snowy weather is PG&E losing power yet again; I’m tired of running that damned generator every snowstorm and snaking extension cords around the house. But it isn’t really PG&E’s fault, they are just the patsy dancing to the PUC’s tunes, and the PUC is populated by termed-out politicians who got a farewell sinecure from ex-colleagues needing someone grateful to do their bidding without seeing the contradictions.

Lost power the morning of the 24th due to wet, heavy snow on the power lines up in the mountains of southern Utah. Workers were out shutting down the lines, knocking the snow off of the transformers and switches, then restoring the power. We have an automatic transfer switch so just a blink for 8 or 10 seconds as the generator ramps up.

We are back in LV and the Facebook page for Duck Creek noted a power outage due to a tree downed by the snow and wind, power restored reasonably quickly.

Whole house generators are much less expensive then they were when I put mine in in 2007 and, IF you have LPG or natural gas, they are GRRRRRREAT. (nod to Tony the Tiger)

I have an 11kw Generac whole house generator, but it gobbles about 2 gallons an hour, if memory serves. One full day is too much. I have two 500 gallon tanks, 800 gallons effective, which normally last all year easily, but 3-4 days in a storm make me nervous. I mostly rely on a Honda 2200, runs 10-15 hours on one gallon of gasoline, but refilling is a pain with no gas gauge and hard to see into the tank while filling.

One constant with griff. He won’t let reality get in the way of his propaganda.

Total number of deaths from disasters of all types are way, way, way down.
That’s the beauty of capitalism. It creates the wealth that allows people to be able to afford to build better houses, and monitor weather so that people can get out of the way of the bad stuff.

Beyond that, there is nothing that is happening now, that hasn’t been happening for centuries and more.

Not many heat deaths. Cold is MUCH more deadly than heat.

Heat has lots of solutions besides airconditioning- breezes, fans, cold drinks, extra water, shade(in the desert) etc.

Cold has few solutions- mainly heat however you get it> hot water to drink, hot toddy, stoves, furnaces, or the next plane or train to somewhere warmer. Or maybe sleeping with your current Item.

You die faster the colder it gets.

I would question the increased heat deaths.
With the short June heat wave in BC they claimed over 600 deaths, many of which occurred as late as august.
With reasoning that heat damages in a way that won’t go away.

Of course almost all of these deaths were old people too poor to afford A/C including a bunch in old folks homes in lower mainland, where it can get pretty hot most summers

It is just awful that she has had her head filled with ideology and then sent out like a Hitler youth to fight their battles. Such people are reprehensible. We should never criticize her. We should always criticize her handlers and enablers. Greta will eventually grow up. Ten years from now she may realize herself that she was being used.
