John Kerry insists he will not compromise on pressuring China to improve treatment of persecuted minorities like Christians and Uighurs, to win a global climate agreement. But I’m not sure I believe him.
Kerry: US ‘hopeful’ it can work with China to tackle climate change

DUBAI: US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry said the United States was hopeful it could work with China to tackle climate change, despite longstanding disagreements that have affected the bilateral relationship.
“Our hope is that we’re going to be able to deal with yes, China,” Kerry told reporters during a visit to the United Arab Emirates capital Abu Dhabi on Saturday. “President Biden has made it clear and I’ve made it clear: none of the other issues we have with China – and there are issues – is held hostage to or is engaged in a trade for what we need to do on climate.”
…
China has pledged to become carbon neutral by 2060 while US President Joe Biden’s administration is expected to announce a new target for reducing emissions at a global climate summit on Apr 22.

Given China’s ongoing massive coal expansion, and their open contempt for climate leaders like Greta Thunberg, a reasonable conclusion is that China does not care about CO2 emissions.
The question; Why would China attend a global climate summit, if they don’t care about CO2?
It seems obvious that China will likely use climate negotiations to attempt to silence global outrage at China’s ongoing persecution of Christians and mass internment campaign against Uighurs, lift sanctions, and gain recognition for their outrageous territorial claims and occupation of islands in the South China Sea, regardless of what Kerry wants.
John Kerry is the one who politically needs to bring home a deal, not China – so Kerry is negotiating from a position of weakness. Kerry does not have anything to offer that China cares about, other than concessions on non-climate issues.
Of course, if the terms of the treaty Kerry negotiates are weak enough, China might decide to sign anyway, for the entertainment value.
Kerry: It’s all about “nuance”. You unsophisticated deplorable types wouldn’t understand.
He’s a politician. He’ll sell out anyone and anything when it suits him.
John Kerry’s position of weakness is between his ears.
China will point out that Obama promised $ 200 billion a year in return for other countries signing the treaty. And China is due a huge amount of money from the US to satisfy the terms of the treaty.
John Kerry would not recognize a dishonest deal from China if it bit him.
I hold a small amount of money in a UK investment company. In their latest newsletter one of their staff extolled what he saw as China’s promise to switch to renewables. When I questioned this I got an email from the firm which confirmed that they really do believe that China is going to reduce its fossil fuel demand. The author of the article also wrote that he saw the Communist Party’s power as being beneficial as it made the switch easier to make. When even the capitalists start believing Chinese Communist Party propagada we really are in trouble.
Of course he will. John Kerry has zero integrity and even less sense.
“Will John Kerry Sell Out” the United States in any way possible? Of course! No doubt about it!
The tragedy of the ages is Kerry marching on about global warming as though nothing had happened in the COVID19 pandemic. The truth is recovery will be slow for most countries and a third of the global population and the U.S. will look good until the bills come due and inflation is suddenly a woke issue called affordability.
would a person that would sell out his own service members sell out for other stuff?
dumb question.
of course he would.
Is the title a real question, or a rhetorical question? John Kerry has already thrown in the towel hoping no one sees the limpness of his position.
From the article: “It seems obvious that China will likely use climate negotiations to attempt to silence global outrage at China’s ongoing persecution of Christians and mass internment campaign against Uighurs, lift sanctions, and gain recognition for their outrageous territorial claims and occupation of islands in the South China Sea, regardless of what Kerry wants.”
What? No mention of the plague the Chicoms have inflicted on the world? You know, the Wuhan virus intentional pandemic that has caused the mass death of millions of innocent people around the world?
Does everyone want to forget about this? It seems the U.S., the UK and the EU leaders have moved on. Who will call out these Chicom mass murderers?
If you don’t discourage such behavior, then what is to stop the Chicoms from feeling they can attack people in the future and get away with it? They might take this “looking the other way” by Western leaders as a sign that they can attack Taiwan without fearing repercussions from the rest of the world.
At a minimum, the world’s leaders should move the Chicom Olympic games to another site. The Chicoms should not be rewarded for mass murder. Those who do allow them to be rewarded are complicit in mass murder.
John Kerry has always been on the wrong side of history. It all started after idolizing the Kennedy’s and deciding that he wanted to enter politics.
First wrong decision: Join the Navy and become a war hero, because like Kennedy and since WWII that was a prerequisite for high office. Except after he muddled through his short tour in Vietnam, he discovered that veterans were no longer considered heroes.
So then he became a war protester who spit on veterans, which was the cool thing to do at the moment. Except who knew that aligning with a terrorist group would later prove embarrassing?
At least dumping his first wife and marrying better money was a good idea. He’d never have to worry about working for a living ever again.
He was for disarmament in the face of the Soviet empire. Once again, wrong.
He was for the Iraq War before he was against it. Again, behind the curve.
He was all for higher taxes on the rich, but moved his yacht to a cheaper jurisdiction.
Kerry was the architect of Obama’s Iran deal which involved pallets of cash in the dark of the night and did nothing to stop Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
For all this, he got a “lifetime achievement award”. The achievement was for not being laughed out of the public sphere for a long political life of being wrong and a hypocrite.
John Kerry has always been out-of-phase with reality. Want a safe bet? Always bet against whatever John Kerry supports. You’ll be a winner every time.
China will do nothing that does not benefit China and its not problem at all with other countries chasing stupid green ideology if that undermines their ability to compete with China. The fun part is they even get to judge if they done what they wanted as far as the IPCC is concerned .
Kerry would sell the US down the river for personal aggrandizement. He already did, to Iran.
I think we’re going to need extensive satellite photos of China for new and existing coal mine development, new and existing coal power plant sites, and new and existing forced labor compounds. Kerry is going to arm wave them away as out of sight and out of mind. They actually do this all the time. Heck, the share of roads and bridges in the infrastructure plan is only 5% as was the case in Obama’s stimulus. Remember that when you see all those news stories and editorials with photos of highways and bridges. And if you don’t believe the 5% go do the math and budget number lookup yourself, it’s not that hard. Just make sure you are really using stimulus amount proposed for roads and bridges and not other things mixed in like more money for BART.
The question is which Constitutional Rights of U.S. citizens will Kerry sell out to win a climate agreement. I guess 1st and 4th (as ICE vehicles become illegal) for starters, but he’ll try to throw in the 2nd.
John Kerry has been betraying his country for decades. He started with the winter soldier hearings where people who never served in the military lied, said they did and worked to discredit American soldiers. He followed up with his service in the senate and selling out to many foreign countries, followed by being a secretary of state and giving in to Iran and China. He has no respect for America so he will give the Chinese whatever they want. He looks at the majority of Americans and simple peasants. I know, tell me how you really feel about him. Mostly, he is slime and I can’t imagine why anyone would allow a waste of skin like that to represent my country.
In simple terms, the Traitor John F. Kerry never met a nation he wouldn’t sell out.
